- Here is how to change the taillight bulbs on a Chevrolet truck. In this video I show you how to change the lenses and the bulb on the tail light. Changing a tail light bulb in the Chevrolet truck is really easy. All you need to do is unscrew the two screws that hold it in place, swing it sideways, and then you remove the circuitboard from the back. Then you just pop out the old bulbs and put new bulbs in. In some cases the circuitboard for your Chevrolet truck tail light will be bad, so you will need to replace it. I decided to replace the lenses, the circuit board, and a taillight bulb in my truck to be sure everything was working properly. Watch this video to learn how to do it.

I think this vintage of truck has gotten to the point all the "Fast & Furious" gee gaws could be taken off. A nice sympathetic resto on these trucks would look the best. Looks great.
I agree. You can’t just put those silly tail lights on by themselves, you have to do a whole bunch of other nonsense to make it match. This truck looks a lot better with normal truck stuff on it, so I’ll keep it that way.

I just bought some bulbs for my tailight blinker but i have the fast and furious taillights and the bulbs dont seem to fit
Sometimes aftermarket tail light assemblies use different bulbs. You can get a whole new set of tail lights with bulbs pretty cheap for these trucks, so you might check that out. There’s a link to some in the description.
I love the original lens. Can't stand those other designs. They just look gaudy.

Chevy Express van tail lights are the same shape as the Chevy truck tail lights. Do you know if the lenses interchangeable?
I don’t know. It wouldn’t surprise me if they made them a little bit different. I’m sure they’re easy to find though.

The stock taillights look better. When I was young and dumb I liked the other type, now it just looks like cheap foreign aftermarket junk to me.

As soon as you said stupid people I hit the like button.vbut have a question vmy idiot boyfriend has a POS S10 either 97-98. I went to change tail light bulb and license plate bulb. The license plate bulb still won't work. It did for a couple hrs today after we got snow, but it don't now. With the tail light bulb, when I went to take the screws out I didn't have right size Phillips head. stupid me being a woman went to ask one of the kids at the auto parts store for help 🤬😤🤬.. well the kid thinking he knows more the. Me because I'm a women stripped my screw and so now I can't get it out without a drill and need a new screw... Is there by chance another way without a drill because I don't have tools no more thanks to my ex?? I need to get it fixed before I get pulled over and get a ticket . I don't wanna get points towards my CDL...
That’s a tough one. It depends on how hard it is stuck in there. You might be able to use a regular size screwdriver bit and jam it in there and get it to turn. You could try spraying something like WD-40 on it to loosen up the threads if they are rusty. Otherwise the normal way to do it is to get a screw extractor and drill a hole into the screw and then put the screw extractor in it to extract it. Or if you can get vice grip pliers on the head of the screw and get a good grip on it, you could try turning it that way.

If you unscrew the back of the tailgate handle you can see what the issue is and you should be able to get the tailgate down
