That's a great idea using the bright broken projected light to camoflage imperfections. Combined with your low F stop manual setting the result looks amazing. The video I mean.
I have a 2013 F-450 Platinum Kodiak Brown and I absolutely love it. It has the best turning radius of any super duty truck on the road. The only thing I don't like about it is the smaller fuel tank which they fixed in the new trucks. And especially the cheap plastic wheel covers that dry rot in the sun and then pop off going down interstate. I pull a 40' 5th wheel RV that has a gross of about 21K. It pulls it effortlessly whether driving flat our up the hills of Colorado. As for tires, my truck came with the BF Goodrich and they are amazing tires for ride and comfort. However they are also soft and you won't get ore than about 35K miles out of them. As for the increased noice towing up and down hills, that is part of the engines functionality. It is necessary in order to protect the longevity of the engine.
Super helpful to actually see the turn radius. That's been one of my biggest concerns on getting an 8 foot bed as I like going up forest service roads that often have tight switchbacks. Seeing the actual turn from above helps me visualize capabilities.
@RobertEdwards-q6t gread to hear! I keep debating on bed length, but very much leaning 8 foot, given the turn radius. Thanks for sharing your real world experience!
Truck looks great I have a 23 f450 platinum and I love it . Went with the 23 because it’s the 75th anniversary year . Also I’m a paint expert for over 20 years and I can assure u they measured your paint for no reason and kinda rubs me the wrong way with there intentions. I say that because there applying a coating on the truck not sanding it and removing material literally no reason to measure the mils of paint on there . But it sure looks cool when they use a fancy mil gage. Measure the same spots and they’ll b exactly the same or even more with the “ceramic” coating on it
I do love the Limiteds buddy of mine has a lifted 2024 f450 limited and it's sick. 6'10 and he just fits in it perfectly. He drove a 2015 f450 in high school as well too. Them 450s are something else and I myself drove a F150 limited back in high school. Such beautiful trucks man.
It is great that you waited 16 months. I first had F450 Limited white ordered on early 2022. After waiting for about 13 months, i pulled out and got 2023 Ram 3500 DRW White Limited HO 6.7 , 4.1 Night Edition. Ram has less drama with TPMS, rear air bags, more quiet interior. Ford had very loud fan and engine noise during the accelerations. Ram sucks on cameras compare to my last Ford 2020 F350 DRW 6.7 LWB Lariat. It is hard to see out, and I don't trust the camera's to get me out of the tight spot. For Ram's I don't have to worry about adding the TPMS, Rear air bags, Centramatic.... which is the good thing.. I did the whole truck PPF instead of the ceramics.. It costs more, but after few years, it will definitely protect the truck from the rock chips and other damages. I also did the ceramic tint including the windshields, and clear 3M protection on headlight/fog light to protect it from chipping and fading. Your truck looks great and thank you for the wonderful video. Price for both trucks are identical. I chose no moon roof for my Ram.. to prevent future water leak issue.. Ram gets around 15.5-16.5 on Highway at about 72 mph.. For heavy payload/ MT driving, I get around 14.5 mph combined mpg.. I did purchase 8 yr 125k mile extend warranty.. Ram is slower than Ford, but it is fast enough for me.. 6 speed is behind its time. I did hear Ram is coming out with 8 speed. But for the long run, 6 speed Aisin 4.1 may out last them all. I have zero issues with the Ram other than 17" tires.
If you downshift and keep your rpm in the correct range to keep your egt’s down then your engine temps will stay cooler and the fan will not kick on like that. If you drive it like a car then it’s going to kick that fan on because your egt’s are getting too high. Somewhere between 1,800-2,300 is the sweet spot of you don’t have a gauge. Highly recommend the the Banks idash guage. This will keep your regens down as well and less strain on that diesel engine.
Great video! I have the identical truck, except 2023. Question, since the truck doesn't have the TPMS, did you install an aftermarket TPMS? And how about tire valve extenders for the rear tires? Thanks.
2022 F450 King Ranch. Best truck i have ever owned. 46k miles so far. If you double tap the traction contol button, you will get Sport Mode. Fells like it locks the convertor in the lower gears and the truck reall rips from a stop.
Beautiful truck and powerful. Expensive as hell and with all the smog crap will never run as well as it could. Won’t last as long either. I’ll stick with my studded, bypassed, chipped, tuned, bagged, exhaust, AVd out, beutiful leather and pulls better than when it was new. The money I put into rebuilding, painting is still far less than the 125K the new ford KR would set me back.
I have 24 350 dually lariat trim black as well with ho . I had a 21 with standard 6.7 never even heard the fan. This one sounds like a jet taking off. I love my truck so far had it since march now Aug. Only has 2,200 miles basically only use it for towing. Sometimes think I should have went 450 but I love what I have. You have a beautiful truck.
About 8 months and 15k miles ago I received my order for a 2024 F350 SRW 6.7 HO Platnium Tremor in Black. I wanted a Tremor and Platinum was it, they don’t offer Tremors in Limited trim for some reason. I would have gone with a DRW Truck but I like car washes and also no Tremor option. I am very jealous of your turning radius!! We have right at 4k miles of towing our 2024 Brinkley Z3610, fully loaded for a week long trip we are right at 18k pounds pretty much maxing out my GVWR, Payload, and GAWR. Pulling wise we have a lot of room about 4k pounds. I added air bags to level up the truck, it helped dramatically with “chucking” on certain concrete roads. I get 16mpg around town and only driving highway I get 20mpg but towing the Brinkley at 75mph I get 9.7mpg. I absolutely LOVE this truck, it’s my first Diesel truck.
sounds like a great setup! The turn radius is amazing for sure and unmatched by any other truck out there. How are you liking your Brinkley? We've heard great things about them.
My 24 F-450 HO does the exact same thing with the DEF gauge and warning. The tank is TINY!! Why they gave us 48 gallon fuel tank and a 5 ish gallon DEF, I will never know. I own one of these things and I still watched your video! Might find a button/feature I missed! Thank you!!
Well, the RAM had 3 gallons so this is an upgrade, lol. I just don’t understand why it tells me to refill at 3/4 of a tank. I would understand if it was below a quarter. 🤔
@@1StrangeAdventureinteresting. Our Ram has the small def tank and it’s over 5 gallons. The other RAM models have almost 6 gallons. I wish my RAM 3500 longbed had the 50 gallon fuel tank.
Thanks for comments - looking to move up to a F-450 next year. DEF on my 2022 F_350 6.7L Ford - DEF use will vary based on use - when towing out 5th wheel will regen more and use a lot more DEF - will call or DEF sooner - so if your last use was towing, it will call for more, even if not towing - as it is basing estimate on your prior use. Over time it will level out and when not towing my guage will go down to about a quarter before giving a reminder. It learns as you gain miles. But no question when hit tow haul and add a big load - bring extra DEF - burned 12 gallons in 2,000 miles towing a 16,800 lb. 5th wheel.
We love our 22 Platinum F350 dually. I also wish engine exhaust was stronger. Ours also is loud on long steep climbs. The one thing I hate is while driving with exhaust brake on in town driving it will downshift to 1st gear with a bang coming to a stop.
I come from 2020 F350 6.7 DRW.. to 2023 Ram 2500 HO 6.7.. Engine break is night and day differences. Ram is also very quiet. You are lucky to have F350, not F450.. F450 is cool, but you have to do lot more work and check with tires, no TPMS, tire imbalances. They are all great truck though...
Very cool video. I have a question about towing capacities and according to Ford TOWING charts I was wondering why you did prefer the 450 when the 350 has higher ccc and 5th wheel towing. F350: GCWR 45600; axle ration 4:10 5th wheel 34700; payload 4973 compared to F450: GCWR 43500; axle ration 4:30 5th wheel 31900; payload 4473.
Okay, okay, this is a family channel. Quit talking about Fords. Just kidding. I'm really a fan of the interior. The leather seats in person are awesome. Great 2-tone color.
