I had to say around 2006 to 2008 Will I Am produced some dope tracks at the time on albums by Nas("Hip Hop Is Dead", Common("Finding Forever"), Sergio Mendes("Timeless"), The Game("Doctor Advocate") & Fergie("The Dutchess). That Will I Am need to return to that zone and produced more greatness like that again.

yeah i heard that too ( not that its a bad thing as i love jamiroquai) however i'd say this song/beat leans much more to disco/soul of yesteryear than some modern R&B-dance tunes.
Sounds to me like a very very similar chord progression used by Daft punk in one track with similar chord inversions, and seeing as daft punk take most of their stuff from previous tracks from the 70's and 80's it is quite lightly that it is influenced, if not the same. Saying that boys noize use this exact progression aswell [and that was before American Boy, not sure about this track though]. I think this is just a common progression, especially the strings.
