- "Hammer" Carnival Ride at the Circus Street Fair in Downtown Peru Indiana. This ride normally carries the "Bullet" name. It's official name from the manufacturer (Eyerly Aircraft Company) is the Roll-O_Plane. These rides are quite rare now and for it to go into the "slanted" tilt position is VERY rare to see in operation these days. This is quite a treat to have at our carnival this year and was very fun to ride.
Lee Eyerly also invented the Rock-O-Plane and the Loop-O-Plane too! Cool video. Classic ride.
I remember this ride was called the “Hammerhead “ in the early 80’s. Truly the most horrific experience of my life.
They don't usually move them into the horizontal axis so that is great that you took this footage. I love the sound they make too. Its that grinding, winding sound, kind of like someone winding up a huge watch. Cool!
Luv that sound as well. And very correct few are left that tilt.
@@MiamiCOIndiana Do you know which midway company had this ride at that fair in 2015?
The only time I saw a Roll-O-Plane in person was at a carnival in the late 80s. They didn't tilt it on the horizontal axis even then so it's great to see them doing it here.
It’s very rare for them to tilt now glad I caught this one on film
Whitney's Playland at the Beach in San Francisco had this same exact roller plane that went vertical & horizontal. But it was a permanent ride not on a trailer truck
Really hard to find this ride operating with both vertical and horizontal
Love it! Always a fave!
i dont ever remember the ones that come to my county fair going horizontal like that...i kinda feel cheated now ; )
Very few do go on the tilt anymore. They were all made to do this however.
The hammer ride was at the fair last time and I got on it but it had one hammer not two
I think when one car per arm it’s called the Loop o Plane usually I’ve rode those as well.
MiamiCOIndiana nice
The original 1920's Hammer ride only had one car and a weight on the other end.
The loop o plane and or Rollo plane ride came later in the 1940's
Is this what they called the "salt and pepper shakers" back in the day? Or was that something else?
I’ve heard it called that before so you are correct
On going on a ride…I’m nervous now I see it goes horizontal
You’ll love it trust me
@@MiamiCOIndiana hopefully🙃
That's NOT...repeat NOT a "Hammer"....It's a ROLL-O-PLANE !!!!!!. I ran one (among other rides) at Streamland Park in Pico Rivera, CA from 1965 - 1970. It is common though to call this ride a "hammer"...........................
The NC state fair called this the hammerhead. I never knew its original name!
Wish theses would come around more in Connecticut? Who has them-Carnival Comapnies?
Doesn't seem to be many of these left going around and yes mostly carnival companies have them
hello Everyone, I truly love this Roll-o-plane ( bullet ride ) Does anyone know who make them ? I have searched and searched and never got the answer. I would love to have one if I could.
Thank you :-)
Lee Eyerly originally made these in the late 1940's thru the 70's. He also made the Rock-O-Plane
I love the hammer but sometimes your butt comes off the seat when you go upsidedown that happen to me last night when I went on this ride
That's what makes it so fun...
I used to help move this role plane
The first time i rode this i smacked my head so hard up there😭
