This day had it all. Seclusion, sun, wind, blinding snow, and big rising fish. I really didn't expect to fish dry's this day until a big trout bolted from under a log to smash my dry fly. From there, I fished dry's the rest of the day. Come on a mid winter journey with me as I check out this Spring Creek and encounter some great dry fly fishing action for big rainbow trout.

That's one of my favorite rivers. I watched it all. My favorite part: seeing the October Caddis, picking the fly, hooking that beauty between the logs, and then landing him without a net....that's legit ! Also, nice truck !
Cool. Good to know OPN. As you know, you don't script that stuff ahead of time. You just get out there and let things unfold. That's the fun part, seeing how the day takes shape and what you can make out of it. Yes, pumped on the truck. Yes! I was struck by that too when I filmed it. It reminded me of the Wizard of Oz when the movie is in black & white and then when Dorothy opens the door to Oz, everything is in brilliant color. The fish live in a killer environment. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE Bro! I owe you for that one! :-)

At this particular river I find the fish to be exceptionally skiddish. So I was surprised when you still caught that first fish after a not so gentle entry.
