Thank you so much for this. I recently lost my dad to cancer and have never felt that level of grief before. My dad was a Christian, so I am confident that he is much better off now and is no longer suffering, but I wasn't prepared for just how much his absence would straight up HURT me! My relationship with my dad was a large part of who I am and suddenly it felt like that part of me was gone and gone for good. This pain then turned to fear of losing other loved ones and hurting like this again and possibly even more. This fear has been crippling to where I too struggle to even get up sometimes, and I often wonder what's wrong with me that my faith isn't the adequate comfort that I thought it was supposed to be. I'm still going through this, so I don't really have a happy ending to this story yet, but I DO now realize that God has provided me just enough to get up each day and keep going little by little.
@silly_nate Nate, thank you so much for sharing this! And I’m going to start praying for you in this area. I honestly believed the lie that Christians can’t be depressed for way too long, and it just compounded the shame and fear and depression. I’m so thankful for others’ testimonies like this, that we can see the way God shows up for each of us exactly the way we need him to. Even now there are moments where he has to sustain me minute by minute.
Have you ever experienced God’s “daily bread” provision? Whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual, how did it sustain you?
