      My MC Monty (RIP) and I went for walks daily. He would "heel" just like a well trained dog. He didn't like a leash because he wanted to be free to hide if a dog came along but he always stayed close and we had great adventures together.

    • @Maine_Coon_Adventures
      @Maine_Coon_Adventures  2 года назад +1

      Sounds nice!
      Do you mean "heel" like walking right next to you very close?
      Not even Buster is that good at following me 😉
      It's a very nice feeling of freedom to walk a cat without a leash, both for the cat and the human!

      @@Maine_Coon_Adventures Our route varied from day to day. Our home was part of a subdivision that backed into a grassy meadow and beyond that was a wooded area. There was a designated trail that ran from the sidewalk in front of our houses, through the woods and meadow and along our riverbank where we fed the ducks together. There were also informal trails running this way and that.
      When we walked along the sidewalks Monty stationed himself beside me at my heel. If we stopped to chat with a neighbour
      Monty would sit and wait patiently.
      On the trails and in the woods Monty seemed to feel more secure and would go off to investigate things that caught his interest. But he stayed within sight and we always knew where each other was.
      We each kept an eye out for dogs but they were usually on a leash and under control.
      This was our daily routine except for the dead of winter which can be very cold here.
      I miss him terribly.

      I'm sorry that he's not with you anymore. But it seems like he was a very nice cat.
      Sounds a lot like Buster. But I usually go with him to places in the forest with few people so we almost never meet anyone. Sometimes I go out with him around the neighborhood too, but then I put the leash on him. It's so much fun go on adventures with a cat 🙂

    The bond between Buster and you is really strong, the walks with him look so easy and relaxed. Too bad i couldn`t walk my Maxi, he was never interested in going outside. I`m sure it was due to his slight arthrosis and his high age. And his experiences as a stary cat before he was rescued in weak condition. At home he loved to follow me like a shadow if he wasn`t sleeping, and he was a sleepyhead who had no problem to sleep or doze 20 hours a day. But that was ok for such a grandpa and snugglebug.
    Thanks for the nice video and not ruining it with some music 😺

      @@Maine_Coon_Adventures Your videos are always high quality content, i like them very much!
      My only outdoor cat was Tom, a mexbreed between Silver-Bengal and EKH. He was 15 years old as he adopted me, but he was playful like a young kitten. When i called his name, he always came to me, most times running like a rocket. It was like he wanted to catch up on his childhood, maybe he was taken from his mom far too early and had not much time or chance to play. When we had our daily walk, he was always showing how happy he was and how much power he had. He did silly things, running up trees, looking at me and then with his "watch out, i`m coming" meow he jumped into my arms - 6.5 kg from 3 or more meter... but we never missed. Sometimes he just walked near me, yapping the whole time, using his wide vocabulary. He was so happy when i answered him. Sometimes he jumped into my arms from the ground to cuddle some time, then he jumped down and ran around, again yapping and doing more silly things. Some people thought he was completely wild and out of control, but just calling his name was enough to show them that Tom was in full control. Sometimes we were just sitting on the forest ground, listening and watching nature. We had a very strong bond.

    • @Maine_Coon_Adventures
      @Maine_Coon_Adventures  2 года назад +1

      He sounds like a nice cat.
      To have a cat jump into your arms must be great!
      I should try to teach Buster and Luna to do that too 😸

      @@Maine_Coon_Adventures Tom loved to hug me and get hugs from me, he was like a human baby and loved to be carried like such a baby. He often was in my arms, belly up, and he loved some belly rubs. The only thing he never loved was touching his paws, with one exception: after a walk in cold weather he came onto my lap at home, turned belly up and streched all 4 paws up. He wanted them warmed by my hands. For this reason, he allowed me to hold them until they were warm enough. Then they became his "death zone" again. When i tried to hold a paw, i got some really fast slaps onto my hand, but without claws. When i tried it again, he growled like a little tiger and slapped my hand again, but harder. I respected his will and never tried it again.
      As a bengal mixbreed, he had long legs, long enough to hug me with his front legs around my neck. He also had the high jump power from the strong muscles of the bengal breed, so it was very easy for him. How much are Buster and Luna in weight? And do they have legs long enough to hug your neck without using their claws? Jumping into your arms should work, but only if they want it from their own. If they love to be carried onto your arms, then maybe they are willing to learn how to jump up to you. If not, don`t try it. Not all cats are arm cats, while some are shoulder and arm cats. Small cats like Sphynx are often shoulder cats and love to be carried around. I know that most Ragdolls like to be carried on arms, but Coonies? My grandpa Maxi was a Coonie mixbreed, and sometimes he liked to be carried for a short time. He was more a purebreed lap cat.
      A few minutes away from my home are 1 Coonie living together with 2 Canadian Sphynx and their personal. When i visit them, the really big Coonie (13 kg) Charly comes onto my lap while both sphynx jump onto my shoulders to greet me and get cuddles. Both Sphynx have very short fur and overwhelming personalities, and they love to talk a lot! The 2 Sphynx were foster cats, rescued by animal welfare from an family that treatet them badly as kitten. Because Charly`s brother from a not so reputable breeder died very young, the family got the 2 Sphynx for fostering and they made very fast friendship with Charly. As the Sphynx were ready for adoption, something strange happened. Charly protected them, he hissed and growled, protecting the small ones with his body! Their personal filmed it, as i could watch this video, it was too funny. Charly had the 2 small ones adopted like kitten, so his personal had no choice as to get both Sphynx forever. Charly is 18 years old now and very healthy, and when the Sphynx get their "5 minutes", Charly often takes it and goes crazy with them together. No blanket or pillow stays where it was before, all down to the floor, 3 crazy cats need a free race track! Seeing big, fluffy Charly run over armchairs, couch, table back to the ground and back up for some more laps with his small buddies is very funny.
      Have you seen Mr. Vivo here on youtube? Charly looks equal, but his fur is a little more dark. When Charly rests on the couch, it is clear who the king is. He looks really majestic and it seems he knows it. He is a very friendly, kind-hearted king. He is a perfect contrast to your Buster, who looks really majestic, too.

    • @Maine_Coon_Adventures
      @Maine_Coon_Adventures  2 года назад +1

      I understand, Charly sounds like a very big and mighty cat. Sounds lika fun to see him play with the Sphynx cats. I have seen Mr. Vivo, he's a very cool cat. Let's hope that Buster can be as famous one day 😉
      Buster and Luna are quite small for being Maine Coons. They weigh about 7 kg and 4 kg. But they are also young so they still have some growth left to do. Luna does not really like being carried, but Buster is fine with it.
