“Fun Love Virus” sounds like a very different type of virus that people get in a very different way.
LOL
Mojo's behind it😂
I know it is.
…inserting something into a slot designed for it isn’t much different 😉😎
Sedusa virus
@ItchyBurritoMiniAltThingy yep
Reminds me of how the Dreamcast version of Atelier Marie contained a really cool screensaver related to the game, but the developer unknowingly had an extremely destructive virus on their computer called Kris, which could destroy your computer and even it's BIOS, on Christmas day of all things. Imagine getting this game from Christmas and unknowingly putting it in your computer...
KRIS DELTARUNE?!?!
@@DaGoob-q2fKris, I remember you're viruses
@@psiseven Excellent comment, no notes.
I was literally about to bring this up when I saw this video!
Merry christmas! your gift is a fun and lovely virus
It's kinda ironic the Beatles disc was the one that the original destroyed and replaced with a doppelganger.
*If you play the DVD backwards you find the clues to the truth, "turn me on, dead disc".*
@@larryinc64 it really is quite ironic
"Play the DVD backwards"?
What do you mean by that?😅
@@tibby-sanIts just a joke; in the 70s people thought you could hear satan by playing vinyl records backwards lol
Wrong @Porygonal64 , It's a reference to the conspiracy theory that Paul McCartney died and was replaced with a lookalike. One supposed piece of proof is the message "turn me on, dead man", which can supposedly be heard by playing Revolution 9 from the White Album backwards.
@@tibby-san The 'message' (Dead man, turn me on) on the Beatles record concerned was meant to prove the Dead Paul theory. Specifically, that Paul was dead (seriously) and replaced by a double (gosh). Other 'proof' was that Paul had no shoes on when walking across Abbey Road (because he was a ghost/angel or maybe the imposter just had different size feet). It was daft.
"Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder!"
Dosent seem like a blunder it could be on purpose
Let me ask you a question: Why would a man who wears a shirt that says "GENIUS AT WORK" spend all his time watching a children's cartoon show?
@@MonadoBoy16 that Simpsons evil nerd character would be the same type of guy to put a virus in power puff girls dvd 😂😂😂

3:41 I don't think this virus would affect modern computers, considering how old it is and that it was made for 9X Windows. Windows Defender would probably detect it anyway.
I’m pretty sure that some old viruses can still work. It’s just that as you said, Windows Defender can tell that it’s a virus long before it can do anything. You’d have to deliberately allow it to infect your computer at that point
Surprisingly, a LOT of old viruses are still bad for modern PCs.
@@borby4584im not denying they wont work, but im sure their functionality would be way less destructive than back in 1998
Just tried, doesn't work on windows 10 or 11 even with windows defender turned off, that's no fun
Viruses depend on flaws of the os to work. For the virus to still work, the vulnerabilities would have to still be unpatched
Fun love virus.
What a fitting name for a recalled PPG DVD 💀
Especially one that referenced the Beatles considerating a lot of their songs is about love 😂💀
Reminds me of the Xenoblade X flash drive that came with the Wii U release as a pre-order bonus with the soundtrack on it, but because it was set up as drive X it caused a TON of issues with Windows
Plottwist: It was for the lore. The flash drive bug is how the government silenced everyone in the cast who knew the truth of what is going on.
It actually had pretty insane and disruptive DRM. To prevent the users from ripping the MP3 files from the usb drive to use the soundtrack elsewhere or sharing it online, they went with the nuclear option of allocating a “drive Y” on your pc and extracting the mp3s there to be accessible by an executable in the usb. It also configured this partition to be unaccessible, invisible, and very hard to remove. So entire tutorials had to be created to instruct people on how to access this invisible partition, copy the mp3s from there, and later delete the partition since it could cause issues.
@bonomagno4 I'd expect nothing less from the psychopaths at Nintendo
I love the bit where you used the Dr Mario viruses and then started playing their music in the background.
seeing old style computer viruses along with the original ppg girls on a dvd set in one video truly an amazing discovery to have found all the way back in the 90s
more like the 2000s, since it was back in 2001
"Meet the Recalls." There's my easy & obvious joke.
Good joke tho
so once again the day is saved thanks to Recalling the DVD Itself
As a physical media enthusiast and somewhat of a Powerpuff Girls myself at 21 years old (being born in 2003), I never knew that computer viruses could even effect DVD discs. Very interesting story and video!
Im only 14 and have missed out on the days of 90s ppg girls being broadcast on the tv
truly a great discovery indeed since I only thought computer viruses could only effect other computers with USB drives and stuff
@@QwahPGIts all just data at the end of the day
...discs are just digital storage media. You can put whatever on them. A lot of people watched DVDs on their PCs back in the day, usually because they didn't want to spend extra on a DVD player. DVD drives for PCs were cheaper, sometimes quite noticeably.
They can't, the virus was burned on with the rest of the data.
better question was how did it even get there and how did no one notice
The most evil Powerpuff Girls villan...an irl virus!
this reminds me of a sega dreamcast game called "atelier marie" where if you put the CD in your computer for the screensavers you'd get infected with the kriz virus, which *was* a very nasty virus back when the game came out (but is now ineffective to modern computers).
When are they gonna recall the DVD's of the 2016 reboot?
It's mere existence is equal if not worse than a computer virus.
XD
nah
Did it have DVDs?
@nintendo-relatedchannel5810 Unfortunately
I mean to be fair that Full opening intro is literal fire 🔥
This is so funny because a few years ago, I found some kind of Mini-Golf DVD-ROM game in my parents' home office (probably my sister's from college). I inserted it into my (modern?) Windows 7 laptop, and within seconds, my anti-virus software (Microsoft Security Essentials) went *apeshit.* Apparently, it wasn't that uncommon for certain DVD-ROM PC games to ship with some kind of spyware/malware that took advantage of Windows 9x/XP's AutoRun function, and secretly installed itself onto the user's PC in the background. This was the late 90's/early 00's, so software development companies were (arguably) able to get away with a lot more than they are today (the Internet was the Wild Wild West back then!)
But was crazy to witness my _modern PC_ recognize (and neutralize!) a threat that was over 20+ years old… that came from a DVD-ROM… of _mini-golf!_ 🤣📀💻⛳️
TL:DR: keep your anti-virus definitions up-to-date, because you never know when a seemingly innocent mini-golf game from 25 years ago might try to AutoRun spyware on your PC! 😂
I wonder what those companies were trying to do by distributing viruses.
The DVD Powerpuff Bluff from this same era somehow made three of my DVD players stop working. I never tried to use any of the DVD-ROM features in my PC but that disc definitely made three of my family's DVD players skip, crash, and then not be able to read discs after that.
A virus for the players instead.
great video, also "fan favorite among fans" was a funny line
0:46 Just realized MoJo JoJo’s girlfriend is suppose to be Yoko Ono 🤣
That's why they make the album where it's just screaming. 😆

I think how advanced vanced virus software is nowadays. You would probably be able to play the DVD safely on a PC or a laptop in the antivirus would detect any vowel or or virus
I had a seizure while reading this.
I wonder if this is where people got the idea that computer software discs bought in stores could contain viruses. I thought it was just hogwash but after seeing this, I wonder if that is why people had that fear.
I guess spoofing the Beatles must have caused the computer virus🤯
My favorite powerpuff girls episode
You could say there was a "bug" on the disc.

There’s some kind of blasphemy with using the reboot with a DVD of the original in the same thumbnail.
I recently saw your Toy Story 2 video from a few years ago about a DVD goof, and then I saw a comment talking about this, and then you said that you’d make a video about this in the future during that time. I can’t believe the ODDS of it being YESTERDAY
Sounds like someone accidentally added an extra ingredient to the concoction.
1:26 DOCTOR MARIO MENTIONED 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
Equal Fights is a fantastic episode.
Reminds me of that awesome time when Sony put rootkits on their earlier released CDs
But that was on purpose.
I had a dvd lens cleaner with a topless woman on it! There was a video of the beach in a cleaner i bought in 2001. It was intended to adjust your tvs settings like brightness, saturation etc. It was just footage on people on a beach, normal stuff. Then one close up shows a woman on her back with no top on and no censorship of any kind, no blurr no blocks. And the scene is about 30 seconds doesn't even cut off quickly lol
Nice! Id goon to it

Imagine an episode called "Home Mideo" where the girls discover FunLove on a DVD they bought and decided to fight him with help from the Professor.
I never knew it had a virus on it probably because I only had the vhs version
Same. I still have my VHS copy of "Meet the Beat-Alls" because of it's sentimental value so I never knew the DVD would put a virus on your computer. Crazy how it wasn't caught in the first place until Warner Bros were forced to recall the original discs due to the controversy.
“Fan favorite among fans” is the funny line ever made
Who could have been behind this?
Mojo jo jo?
Princess morbucks?
Gang green gang?
Him?
Things like this are why modern Windows versions ask for permission before autoplaying a disc.
Wow, and I thought only only pyrite DVDs were infected of a virus.
You don't like Bought and Sold? That's one of the very best episodes.
Nice story and short. Instant sub
If i had a nickle everytime Lane post about a DVD Recall Video,i have two nickles
Which is isn't alot but it's wierd that happend twice
I had this dvd!! My sister and I loved the powerpuff girls and my mom loved the Beatles so we always played that episode. Not sure if I have the virus version since we didn’t have a computer but I think our dvd is too scratched up to even work on a dvd player anymore.
Meet the beat alls is on my top 10 favorite episodes of the ppg
They took the most well known villains of different ranks and made them team up to defeat the powerpuf girls
And the Beatles metaphor was cleverly handled
No offense but I like equal fights since it's a satire on manipulators who don't care about they say other than fake sincerity
And bought and scold is a classic
I do feel that it would work better as a 2 parter and have the gang greengang deal with princess after their hideout and stuff got stolen because of the anti crime law
Great video though
Nah, the point when they started making regular half hour episodes is when the show started to suffer
@untunedguitar45 I disagree
The powerpuff girls has made some fantastic double episodes in the course of its run
Hang on a second, you're telling me that there was a DVD of The Powerpuff Girls that gave people a virus when inserted into a computer?
Huh... guess that must've been one of The Beat-Alls' more sneaky tactics.
Misread the thumbnail lol, I didn't see the subtitle at first, only the the theater listing and so I thought the DVD was titled "The Powerpuff Girls Beat Ass!" XD
Video: "a fan favorite, among fans"
Me: Checks out🤔
Still don't understand why they did DVDs like that. Why not do ones that contain whole or at least half Seasons?
Must've been a Pain in the A to collect all Episodes
You must have not been there to experience it so I'll explain... Umm... That's just how that worked really, no one questioned it. Having episodes on video and DVD being released officially was kind of a luxury. They basically we're "best" episode compilations. You'd have to be lucky for your series to be in a DVD to begin with, let alone all the episodes be available. I don't think PPG ever got all its episodes on DVD until the anniversary box set, released around the time where cartoon season sets we're already more normalized.
The companies want to make more money, in modern day Japan they sell like 1-2 episodes of anime on blu ray so you can “support the studios” or something around those lines to make the consumers pay more money
@@kanesmith8271 this. A whole damn 12-episode season can fit in FHD with Dolby TrueHD 5.1 on a single BluRay disc.
The main reason is VHS. They had a short limit on how many episodes could be on them. Making a set of VHS tapes for a whole season would have taken a lot of space and have been expensive.
Most cartoons and TV shows didn't get full seasons on video in the 90s because of this but frequently got tapes with a few episodes. Usually the first ones or a best of.
In the early 2000s they were still releasing these, and because DVDs were becoming popular they released the same videos in that format.
By the early 2010s season long DVD sets became the norm. Nowadays releasing only a few episodes is uncommon.
I looked at F-Secure's writeup for FunLove sadly it doesn't have any sort of interesting payload which is very disappointing for a virus with fun in the name all it does is writes the text string "~Fun Loving Criminal~" when it's run in DOS mode
That's bad ngl , Oof love ur videos tho keep it up man.
Narrator: one again, the day is saved thanks to... TEAM GOHAN

I have meet the beatalls on VHS and DVD and it's my favorite Powerpuff girls release especially with the Powerpuff girls movie sneak peek right before my favorite episode jewel of the aisle 👍❤️
I don't know where you got the clips from but if they're from an official source like a ripped DVD then I would suggest a proper de-interlacer like QTGMC or IVTC so the frames aren't blended.
The footage is from the VHS/DVD trailer, the reason it looks like this is because it's the only upload of the trailer I could find on RUclips.
ruclips.net/video/lbCr5maGFY8/видео.html
@KingLaneCreations That makes sense. I know RUclips only supports progressive video so someone de-interlaced it badly or not at all and let RUclips do it.
So they were beating them all, even in reality.
The episode with the blonde pro ♀️ ☮️ female warrior was awesome. I loved that character so much.
I pulled a double take on that recall date & had to rewind to check what I heard, "December".
Hoo-boy!

and thats why I immediately disable autoplay on every new Windows install
Was all the episodes included on that DVD still included on the 10th Anniversary complete DVD Boxset released on 2009?
Since they were part of the show itself, all episodes on that DVD were included on the 10th anniversary set.
It is an eternity old virus.
Windows defender blocks that one without you even knowing.
"At own risk" is kinda redundant unles they use winXP
The real question is if the virus is still able to do any damage on a modern machine

Dude I remember renting this from Blockbuster 😭 good ol times
1:08 wdym by dud? Equal Rights was like a good episode that comments on toxic feminism
Yea i was about to say, i think the guy got the wrong lesson from it
Ur just a sensitive beta it’s ok
Theres no such thing as toxic feminism. The episode is questionable and has a lot of flaws for a subject as nuanced and complex as feminism. It wasnt helping anyone. Thats why the writer, Lauren Faust, regrets making it.
Or she wanted to fall in line with the current narrative that lacks any and all nuance 🤔😏
"lack any nuance" have you guys even watched the episode?
it's about how girls got gaslighted by the villain that the female demographic are often harmed by men, which led them to be apathetic towards them and go on the way to be mean towards them
regardless what do you think the girls' reactions aren't okay or "accurate", keep in mind they're just kids who didn't know any better
Miss Bellum had to call to them to talk about this behavior isn't okay and that being like that won't solve the injustice at outside world
the lesson is that there's always gonna be social problems in the world, but being aggressive and toxic about won't solve anything
the episode might not be perfect, but I can see what they're trying to tell
How can a DVD have a virus?
Watch the video and find out.
Watch it
I feel like any virus for a computer back then (winXP) would be immediately neutralized by modern windows defender. I’d say there’s no worry unless you run it on an old XP machine.
I had this DVD as a kid, but never tried to put it into any of the desktops my family had over the years. So who's to say whether that copy I had as a kid did contain that virus or not?
I wish viruses were never a thing.
Where did you get the music at the end?
You’re better off getting the VHS.
I've still got a DVD copy of this. Is there any way to actually tell if it's an infected original or clean rerelease?
I actually have one of the recalled dvds with the virus on it lol

Hold down shift as you put the disc in.
Would the virus even affect modern computers?
I don't think so
I thought it was super hilarious that while I'm not a Beatles fan at all, I understood so many references simply because my dad is a HUGE fan of them.
I wanted to show him this ep on Hulu after I finished rewatching it for the first time in years, but by then, Hulu wanted me to either pay for some extra extension, or watch the reboot. :(
Also agreed, I didn't really like "Bought and Scold" either. It was a hard one to watch. :/
I really want to see someone buy this and make a video about and putting it in there pc

eh... I don't know if it's still even risky. At this point I'm assuming windows defender blocks it or it's just not compatible with modern systems. Again, this is an assumption lol

Would that really effect Windows 11 these days???
first time hearing about this, i did own that dvd at one time. probably still do
I find it strange back in the 2010s people were praising Equal Rights as a gotcha / a way silence towards online feminism
Now everyone hates it
Funny you mentioned it cause even when I first watched it in 2013, I never liked it because of how out-of-character the Girls were. Though it does have a great message, and was a fun commentary on toxic feminity.
Probably because of Twitter. Ugh, society is as soft as a pillow nowadays.
I had the VHS version so I never encountered this problem. Though I gave it away because I already had the complete series boxset.
Same, except that I kept my Powerpuff Girls VHS tapes from when I was a kid because of the sentimental value and still having a VCR because they're always offered online as refurbished products for people that want to bring nostalgia the old school way back into their homes. I don't have the same brand of VCR (whatever that may have been, I don't remember) when I first got the "Meet the Beat-Alls" VHS but I currently have a MagnaVox DVD/VCR combo that had it's heads cleaned before being listed and was advertised as in Mint condition/like New on Mercari. It wasn't terribly expensive and I thought the condition it was in made it worth having.
How are you going to use the reboot Bubbles on the thumbnail when talking about the og?
It’s an entire screenshot from the reboot, my guess is the context (since Utonium seems to have a fire extinguisher putting out the fire that is somewhat blocked off by the dvd png).
