At first I tried to accept this title. ”Games with Yasuke as the main character are also innovative.” Looking at the square tatami, the upside-down family crest, and the interview with the creator, I realized that they had no respect for Japan. Yasuke was just a servant. He wasn't a samurai. Japanese culture has been co-opted into UBI's LGBTQ cosplay. Although I've been playing since the first Assassin's Creed, I've decided to stop being a fan of the series. Goodbye UBI.
"Yasuke" was NOT the "first black samurai", he was a retainer, effectively a novelty kept by Nobunaga because he enjoyed his company and apparently could do a few "tricks". He did nothing of significance, knew little Japanese, and was referred to as a slave and animal by Mitsuhide who spared his life. If at all, he MIGHT have fought in a single battle of which he surrendered. (wasn't even a battle, more of a skirmish) Of ALL significant moments in the history of the Samurai...."Yasuke" was not one of them, the only reason he was anything of note at all, and why anyone knows anything about him was literally because he was black and therefore, an oddity.
Toyotomi hideyoshi took 10 years to gain the rank of samurai with multiple achievements, so it's safe to say his not a samurai. So if they chose to use a random Japanese person, there would be no issues (notice how no one has any issues with the female PC at all) . But that isn't what they chose to do. Instead they took an existing story and raced swapped the main character who happens to BE a real person...who did nothing, and elevate them in a story and setting they otherwise have no right being in and on top of that, the race swap makes ZERO sense for the core concept of the game itself. It's the boy who cried wolf scenario now, even if this game had good intentions with the character (it does not). People are so tired of this crap that they will call it out, good intention or not. The issue is gamers do not trust these companies to make games in good faith, and they dont see characters like this, or Miles Morales, in good faith anymore. Because we've been bombarded from all sides so heavily with this 'Agenda' for so long, most people refuse to give these people making the game the benifit of the doubt. As they shouldn't. This woke DEI crap has to be defeated, and if it takes a few good intentioned games or movies with, thats the price that has to be paid at this point, unfortunately. These companies, game, Hollywood, Disney, or otherwise, brought this on themselves, and deserve all the backlash and boycotting.

I think the Japanese are open and appreciative of foreign culture but a foreigner disrespecting Japanese culture is a particular transgression. They've mostly reacted to DEI with confusion but this game tread on a unique sin. Japan is an island nation with profoundly unique linguistics and a history marked with brutal warfare against China and natural disasters. Their political history wavers between periods of openness to foreign ideas and a return to an isolationist culture and this trailer seems to have fanned the flame of isolationism.

Yasuke was used by Japanese developers as well the sengoku games made by koei, nioh and they both depict him as a shadow samurai body guard. If I'm not mistaken there are other Japanese developers that used him as well. I don't see the issue about alternative history. Japan gets a lot of things wrong about other countries is just the scope of which you see things and it's great to research cultures. People develop super heroes, stories, etc based on their experiences, so it's hard to not be biased and want to not insert themselves. It's just an extension of expression. I personally love Asian culture and history. I'm all for respect but to bash for people to bash this and completely write it off. C'mon guys. I don't like the woke agenda or pandering.
(wasn't even a battle, more of a skirmish)
Of ALL significant moments in the history of the Samurai...."Yasuke" was not one of them, the only reason he was anything of note at all, and why anyone knows anything about him was literally because he was black and therefore, an oddity.
Toyotomi hideyoshi took 10 years to gain the rank of samurai with multiple achievements, so it's safe to say his not a samurai. @@ravefm2898 That might have been an acceptable excuse when the PC was an unknown nobody...which was the point of the franchise originally, before they started making the PC's well known figures in game.
The second they let Sweet Baby, Inc. into the picture, any "good intentions" were hurled explosively out the nearest window.
Exactly. People are thinking this is because they are "disconnected" or "just bad decisions".....No, this is all deliberate.
it never ends well with this DEI stuff. It will end up in the dumpster like Forspoken
Typical Jewry
Woke and Dei seems to only be referred to whenever it’s none white people. seems like an agenda.
Honestly, if they made it a Japanese man with DLC playing as Yasuke, that would have probably done quite well. People would have been excited for extra content that is different from the game. Too bad Ubisoft sucks as games
This isn't about a "bad decision." Its all deliberate. People need to understand this.
So basically Yasuke was a sword caddie?
Tbf that sounds more badass than actual caddie.
yes he was but ubisoft took sweetbabyinc money and try defile history and try potray him in this game as something he was not
@@mscapeh4451 Oh believe me I'm well aware.
So do I get this straight that a French company takes another countries culture and alters it to fit their cultural views?
History might not repeat itself but it sure does rhyme.
At least sucker punch did research and did stuff historically accurate majority of the time
I looked it up. France is the main base but Montreal Canada branch is the main base for creating assassin's Creed games so we can blame both the French and Canadians for this rewrite of history and insulting a different country.
@@kopykat6843both being french (quebec)
@kopykat6843 Ubi Montpellier is still good but the northern american branched have been completely poisoned by the EA and Woke Baby Inc. mentalities of murican studios
I miss the simple days of Tenchu....
And I miss the simple days of Onimusha...
Black Samurai coming from Ubisoft Quebec. Western Colonialization... Oh the irony.
What a great idea to take a footnote in Japanese history and promote him to the main character in a faux Japanese setting. It's disrespectful and embarrassing but considering the staff behind this farce it's not surprising.
So French company, based in Montreal is putting an African man into a game set in feudal Japan? I'm guessing Sweat Baby was consulted?
I'm sick of catching strays for activists.
Great way of putting it lol
Japan blaming us for this nah we hate it too.
The do something about it.

I'm just glad everyone is mad about this garbage. Cause it's definitely garbage.
