    The types of racing we do in the USA really comes down to cost. If you had road races the cost of rolling roadblocks, security, emergency workers, road closures, permits raises the cost of entry fees way past that of what a jr racer can afford and what a sr racer will spend. Probably why club ride slugfests are the best road racing we have.

    Heya Justin. I'm a former rider from Canada who stumbled upon your channel via Norcal. Just a quick note to say your dedication to being a top level rider is effing amazing. I'm just wondering how you got into the sport. I've never been to LA, but my understanding is it's kinda segregated. Did you grow up working class? If so, who introduced you to the sport and what drove you to thrive? If not, who introduced you to the sport and what drove you to thrive? Did you ever join a group ride that included the late great Robin Williams? How about Barry Bonds? Apparently he's huge into riding. If you've ever ridden with Bonds, did the topic of doping come up? Oh man, tons of questions. All best and keep the rubber side down.

    Great taff! This is important for kids to look at. We live in this world at these times looking through a Prism of culture differences colour of skin differences.
    And cycling world does need those guys like Justine for black kids to see him and believe that they can do it themselves 'saying, I am like him, come from same background like him'.
    That is the prism of our world and it might change in few hundred of years, and these ways will change.
    Living in UK South West London I do like to see polish names on racing list doing, finishing well so I can have motivation that I will do well too :D
    Best of Luck.

    How can anyone give DIVERSITY IN CYCLING a thumbs down? Racist much?

  • @jimjr4432
    @jimjr4432 5 лет назад +7

    I would assume that you favor limiting the number of non-blacks until the participation rates of blacks are equal to their percentage of some population? Worldwide, by continent, by country? Force blacks into cycling whether or not they want to. You are the social engineers of humans now? If you folks are so into diversity, work on the NBA and NFL..
    So how many blacks, latinos, orientals and dwarves, men and women, do you have working for you? Are you diverse? Which white guy of you wants to quit to help 'diversity'?

      I feel you on the sentiment, but the basic message is that if there's one person of colour in the sport, it may lead to an explosion of potential talent. Before Tiger woods and some of the Asian golfers, there was basically no diversity. Even track cycling are starting to be dominated not just by the Dutch, but by riders from Trinidad and Tobago.

      The lack of black riders in cycling is just a fact and I'm pretty sure it's not because of a physical attributes. The culture simply isn't diverse and it's cool to find someone who tries to give people new opportunities.

      kesmo1425 Dude you are completely missing the point... This video is about diversifying the categories of the sport with the crit and not about diversifying skin color in cycling. The original comment refers to the fact that the word "diversity" is overused and in the case of this video you didn‘t know what to expect. Even if the video is in harlem and so on and it may seem otherwise, I‘m glad the issue is about the race categories in cycling and not his "race".
