- My very first wild camp in the west of Ireland. I spent a night in the Burren National park which is dominated by glacial-era limestone. It is alive with birds and wild flowers. Not only that, I had a nice view of Father Ted's House 😃
Thank you for watching and I will see you in the next one,
Jason

I really felt peacefulness and solitude of this one. Gorgeous shots and narration.👌👌
Great to hear it, I'm happy that you enjoyed it. Thank you very much 👍
Shame about the misty morn but what a beautiful place and I can almost smell the wildflowers from here! :) Thank you for sharing Jason! 👍
I have never seen so many wildflowers. It was class, thank you for watching 🙂
You are right Jason, that was the Fr Ted house alright, sher have a cup of tea, gwan gwan..the mountain in front of you is mullaghmore…it’s often described as like a collapsed wedding cake..
Ah that's a class description, it looks amazing over there. I should have really given myself more time to ramble around but I was made up when I say that I had a view of the Father Ted house 😁
Terrific spot Jason and great to be in the open like that. You've been busy lately 👍 Enjoying the sights of Ireland, thanks for that. Have a good weekend mate 👍😊
It was a perfect night for it, I'll hopefully be getting around the country more and more now but it depends on fuel prices and all that jazz. Cheers Lee, have a good one 👍
Jason, a great first wild camp in the west of Ireland👍 and a bivy gives so many options that might not be open to a tent👍 A beautiful landscape, loved the wee fish, the slug and the wildflowers👍 Plenty of water for lots of tea is a must😊
I couldn't agree more, the bigger the shelter the more limited the options for a pitch. I will definitely be back there and I'll give myself a lot more time to have a wander about 🙂
The teamaster of hiking this lad
Nice floral shots Jason, glad you enjoyed it. Take care
Cheers Andrew, all the best 👍
Beautiful hike and a cozy camp doesn't need a tent ;) Great video of your adventure mate and authentic delivery. I really had a good time following you out there!
In that landscape it would have been difficult to find a spot to pitch a tent. The bivy was ideal 🙂 Thank you for joining me on this one, I am delighted that you enjoyed it 👍
Alright Jason that was the house lol as soon as you pointed father Ted's house all I could think about was ( do you want a cup of Tea go on, gooooo onnnnn) lol awesome video I'm thinking of the same pillow. 🤘🤘🏴🏴🏴
😄 It was such a good series.. I'm not sure how I feel about the pillow, I reckon the straps will only work with a rectangular sleep mat but sure I'll keep at it and see hw it goes 👍
Great video, take care and catch you on the next one 👍
Thanks, you too!
Happy days Jason. My favourite spot. I'm yet to try a bivy. I will thou. I bought the foam roll up pillow. Don't like blow up pillows. Great spot you picked. Last time I was there, like yourself.. just sat and relaxed. Great video man. Water is scarce up there isn't it. I liked the marshmallow clouds 😂😂😂 top Job Sir.
I've bought a hunka XL. I now own 4 bivy's 😄 I've seen those, I will more than likely give them a try some time, it's just the pack size for me but I'd imagine they would be ideal for the longer winter nights. I actually miss those nights already 😄
It was a nice little spot, I was lucky to find it but I could have done with a drone to mess about with 😁 Someday I might get one, I've just got it in my head that one day it would either drop out of the sky over a cliff or it will just fly off into the distance and never comeback... Bye bye €500 😄 Yea the water down by the lake didn't look the healthiest to be fair which is why I was hoping to pick up the stream but I'll know for the next time. Cheers Martin, have a good one 👍
Looked great Jason! I camped in the Burren last Summer and had that same challenge of trying to find a place to pitch. I had the Hubba Hubba with me too 😂 Lovely to hear what you said about the smell of the flowers - a nice addition to a beautiful camp! Shame your pillow wasn’t an instant winner but good that you were happy enough with the bivy 👍 Roll on the next one - my dehydrator is humming away here in the background….
I tried to pin down my ground sheet but there was no hope 😄 Hopefully you got the tent sorted in the end.. I will definitely be back there, it was beautiful. Yeah the sleep mat and the bivy did well. The sleep mat was very nice and I do have a second bivy bag now so I'll try that next time. Ah brilliant, you'll have your meals sorted now for a few trips. I'm still working through my last batch from months ago 🙂
This was a really good one
Cheers Phil, I'll be back there this year 100%
You found Graceland with the Father Ted House.
I was delighted when I saw that
Beautiful spot to camp. Nice peices of kit. It's all trial and error with the camping gear. I'll have next week away from the kiddos so I hope to at least have 1 over nighter out the woods or mountain 🤞
There was a bit of a scramble back down the next morning but it was worth it. That would be class, I've avoided the woods purely because of the midges, the breeze on the mountains helps to keep them at bay. Saying that I do miss camping in the woods. Wherever you decide to go hopefully you will have a good one 👍
@@RamblingOn Thank you. I may chance the mountain. A not so big one till I get more brave lol. The midgets are a curse. I must get a net or spray if I can.
@@vitamincalmasmr I heard that Avon skin so soft is really good as a reppelent. I haven't tried it myself though. Boots do a spray called TMD Extreme that works well
@@RamblingOn You are amazing. Thanks for tips. I will give them a try 🤗
So true about the tea tasting better in the wild - -and everything else does too! People spend fortunes trying to TASTE their food fully - with award wining chefs preparing haute cuisine for them - when their soul is actually only aching for a REAL FOOD experience - a ham and cheese sandwich and a cuppa on hill top with a 360 degree view of nature and total silence! You cannot buy it - so only us few privileged few can taste that taste!
Very well said. Those types of experiences are left for those of us who put the effort in to get there. I always appreciate the time spent sitting on a rock with a cup of tea and a nice view to look at.
Looks a great spot, thats probably the flatest place now in the whole area.
😄 it was mad how uneven the ground is up there, I was happy to find a sliver of flat grass
Up the Banner
Nice one 👌 Hard to get remote in this country but that seemed to do it with style. Who needs rose petals on your pillow when you can sleep in a bed of wildflowers 🙂
Did you get much condensation in the bivvy bag? I really want one but seems difficult to get a balance between cost and breathability...
The smell of the flowers was pretty class to be fair, I wouldn't have had that if I had brought a tent.
The first time a used this bivy I had loads of condensation but I woke up in the clouds and it was a very damp night. This time there was none from what I could see. I have just bought the hunka XL so we will see how that fairs.. They're €85 where as the oex one is around €50. I'd go for the hunka if you were getting one
Stunning location. Just brought a ex British army bivi, you're looks open ended as well, how do you keep critters out yours.
Ah savage, I haven't figured that part out myself yet 😄 I reckon if there was midges I would wear a head net but the other crawly things I have no idea how to keep them at bay
Hey dude , I really enjoy your video's , your very laid back , that's the way to role dude , If you are ever up this neck of the woods :-) let me know and I'll meet you for a ramble if you want , be a good video !!
Hey thanks very much for watching them, really appreciate it. I've been learning to slow down a bit and give myself more time to explore these types of areas. I'll hopefully be heading out all over Ireland, so we could very well bump into each other along the way. I'm sure you have been to the Burren already but if you haven't it's well worth spending a night up there 👍
@@RamblingOn Yeah been up the Burren, amazing place , and I remember all the wild flowers , great colours popping out of the stone, I'll be down in Kerry in a few weeks so give me a shout if you are there also.
