  • In the morning of departure, the weather condition was overcast at 4000ft, 20knots tailwind at 8000ft. To make the shortest route: KJYO-DINUW-FDK-KBID, I VFR-departed KJYO. At 3500ft over FDK, I requested ‘climbing VFR-On-Top’, PTOMAC approved my request in a minute. After climbing the top at 8000ft, I maintained at 8500ft, flew over PHL and NY class-B. With 20kts tailwind, after a little bit trim, the 71R just flew herself as like with an ‘autopilot’, very nice! Aerial view over Long Island is breathtaking. From Manhattan to ‘the End’ Montauk, airport-by-airport, beach-by-beach, island-by-island, non-stop amazing scenes. When we reached the destination Block Island, we circled the island at low altitude, up-close to see the island. Nothing like the typical east coast flat beach, the mix of beautiful cliff and beach in Block Island makes me feel like flying in Big Island, Hawaii. After landed, our taxi driver gave us an hour of island tour. She shared a lot of interesting local history, culture, tourism, and investment with us at each stop. At the end, we spent two good hours at Mohegan Bluffs -the most popular attraction in the island. The cliff is 200-foot tall, with a set of 141 steps, we got down to the sand. The view is spectacular, clay cliffs offer a dramatic view of Atlantic ocean, extending all the way to Montauk on the tip of Long Island.
