Queen of Nothing
by The Crane Wives
Stop the car, I wanna get out
I'm craving open air and solid ground
'Cause I've been watching from the backseat,
Watching the world slipping past me,
Feeling the weight of gravity holding me down, holding me down, holding me
Isn't this what you wanted?
Time sure feels like it's running out
Just finish what you started
Queen of nothing,
Wearing such a heavy crown
Like a moth in the night
I'm desperate for a minute in the light
'Cause everywhere that I go,
Something pulls me to the shadows
And I'm trying not to get too close,
But it's always there, saying my name, calling to me
Isn't this what you wanted?
Time sure feels like it's running out
Just finish what you started
Queen of nothing
Wearing such a heavy crown
On and on to the next town
Can we slow down?
Time isn't running out
Time isn't running out
On and on to the next town
Can we slow down?
Time isn't running out
Time isn't running out
Isn't this what you wanted?
Time sure feels like it's running out
Just finish what you started
Queen of nothing,
Wearing such a heavy crown
literally discovered the crane wives back in like early 2020 and was blown away by how
If one of their's songs aren't playing on my funeral then I m not dying.
I think this song is about a girl trying to escape her past. Maybe she just got out of rehab, or had a traumatic childhood, or some other event that has influenced her psyche. She is laden with guilt, and grief, but she knows that this is for the best for both her, her partner, and her family. What she’s done weighs heavy on her heart and mind, but that’s behind her now. Time hasn’t run out for her to change, no matter how much the shadows may call her name.
It’s been a little over a year since I started listening to The Crane Wives and I can’t describe how excited I am for this album, every song they makes just keeps getting better and better. They’re my favorite band of all time right now and I don’t think that ranking is going to change anytime soon!!!
When you just decide to become a building:
I've heard Kate & Emilee describe their love of harmonies. Their acoustic guitar work and two guitar electric style and song writing is more than exceptional. From the moment I heard this song it reminded me of a 1960's Rolling Stones jail song called We Love You that was the flipside of Blow away Dandelion. Queen of Nothing isn't a knock off and has a much slower tempo, the song struck me because of the way the notes modulate up and down from key to key. Queen Of Nothing has a slow subtle feel to it, and like all good new releases the song grows on you,, in a good way... Peace.
four more days gamers and gays. i am so excited i could RIOT
why is your name the crane wives??
So essentially the cover art is "My body's a temple and it's burnin' like notre dame"
Amazing art, Emilee is so talented...
screams
One of the only good things to come out of 2020, let’s be real
I've always associated The Crane Wives with fall, now this October has gotten 100% better! >w<
Lyrics
Why isn't this on spotify! It's beautiful
Was listening in the car and was a little shocked to hear "stop the car" as the first lyrics...
The art is gorgeous, the song is gorgeous, life has proven gorgeous again
Crane Wives = The very air that keeps me breathing
Wait... NEW MUSIC?? NOW??? I was NOT prepared for this- but it’s VERY MUCH APPRECIATED
Appears I'm a bit late to the party- but I'll still put in my two cents on this amazing song. I've been able to relate to songs before to some degree... but this one feels too close to home man. Just in the past weeks I've been getting into The Crane Wives and most, if not all, of their songs I either relate to or love the sound of. Never been a big listener on this type of genre or song either, but perhaps it's time I change my interest. Wonderful song :)
