I mean I've never tried a device specifically designed for cutting seat that helps, but I have tried multiple tools and accessories in which that is a additional feature. @BoneTactical I have to travel a lot for my job. I take over a hundred flights a year. I'm telling you, at one point or another TSA will ask you to get rid of it, it just matters where you are flying out of and how persistent they are. I've had them take away a Resqme tool off my keys and I've had them take a lock-picking set out of my wallet. So I'm pretty confident if I go through TSA with half a brass knuckle they're gonna stop me.

I really like the version he shows in this short video and I went to his website to order it. Unfortunately, I've worked in a machine shop and I know what the materials and machining costs are to make something like this. And for what he's charging, I'm pretty sure he's a graduate of the Mark Cuban School of Business where your final cost to the consumer is close to 10x what it actually costs you to make it. In my case, that priced him outside what I was willing to pay....so here I am waiting for Cyber Monday to see what he does with his prices. But even if he doesn't drop his price enough, I have a backup plan...."Hey Honey, you know that 3D printer I've been telling you I want?"

My shop ran aftermarket production using a 5 stage progressive die that made 1968 Camaro bumpers back in the day. We'd send then out and get them chrome plated, package them, then ship them to him. We charged him $36 per bumper and we were making a killing (late 90's). He was selling them on the open market for just under $600. He was making a killing too. When I asked him, he told me he charged that much because his shop was the *only place in the world* you could buy a "new" Camaro bumper for your restoration. I mean - charge whatever the market will bear Brother...but once you've tapped the very last customer willing to pay $70, at that point you're going to have to think about customers like myself...and hope we haven't already spent our money with your competitor. Please don't take my comments personally. You make some beautiful kit. I'm just saying I'm probably going to wait until you run a sale.

This looks like something that would be made illegal only after it became really popular. I could see a judge (depending on the state) trying to say it's a weapon "similar to brass knuckles". The question would be does it look more like a weapon or more like a tool? @BoneTactical I understand carbon fiber may not work for this design, but in comparison, one can have a carbon fiber duster and full multi tool for a fraction of the cost. I used to think that too. Have you ever hit anything with them? I wouldn't recommend it. Put a roll in your hand and go hit a bag. Then think about hitting bone with it. Your fingers and hand absorb the majority of the energy transfer. You are putting your bones between a harder bone (skull) and metal coins.

@@BM205 brass knuckles are a closed structural loop that encloses all 4 knuckles. Bone breaker is an open loop enclosing only two knuckles but is sold as a multitool. If you were to tack on the extra tool bits on a 4 knuckle enclosure like brass knuckles they would be illegal full stop. The open loop 2 knuckle design is skirting lines.
It may be legal to carry, but it may get you in trouble if your judge decides it was a fight and not self defense. Same if you use a legal knife. Carry a roll of quarters if you're worried about it.

self defense weapon laws are weird and usually rule as "if you were carrying with the intent to use it as a weapon, it was illegal." something like this, even though it has some use as a tool, is very clearly a weapon, and the name of the product does not help. there's a lot of legal precedent for this, at least in the US. people think the same thing about canes, but if you're not crippled it's probably gonna take some selling to convince the judge you weren't carrying it as a weapon. still, pretty cool product. it's just in some grey area, so be careful.

Still wouldn't fly in Germany though...the problem here is, that a court still has some wiggle room in interpretation what constitutes a prohibited weapon. Also, if one uses this in an emergency to protect themselves, german law states precisely that the method of deflection should not exceede the power inflicted by the attacker, so if you use a hardened tool against someone using fists they might still charge you, as its considered an "overreaction". Notwehr and Notstand Laws are something uncanny...

Tactical pen is more “legal” and it’s far less likely you’ll shatter your knuckles. Plus, you’ll be able to sign your name-IF you can write in longhand.

I would recommend the bone opener, micro just to be on the safe side. Although it is legal in Canada, we have heard reported problems of theft in customs if the agents tend to like something that they could argue is an illegal gray area. So I would definitely recommend either the vagabond or the bone opener micro for Canada.
It would be illegal to carry this in Canada for self defence. The law is based on intent so if you carry an umbrella and hit someone with it who’s robbing you and tell the police you where carrying it for self defence you would be charged, but if your carrying it for rain and just so happened to have to used it to defend yourself that’s probably not a charge…. I would love to buy one! But in switzerland where i live theres one big problem. It will definetly be listet oder spottet by the police and identyfied as a "dangerous object". I'm telling you, at one point or another TSA will ask you to get rid of it, it just matters where you are flying out of and how persistent they are. I've had them take away a Resqme tool off my keys and I've had them take a lock-picking set out of my wallet. So I'm pretty confident if I go through TSA with half a brass knuckle they're gonna stop me.

Unfortunately, I've worked in a machine shop and I know what the materials and machining costs are to make something like this.
And for what he's charging, I'm pretty sure he's a graduate of the Mark Cuban School of Business where your final cost to the consumer is close to 10x what it actually costs you to make it. My shop ran aftermarket production using a 5 stage progressive die that made 1968 Camaro bumpers back in the day. We'd send then out and get them chrome plated, package them, then ship them to him. We charged him $36 per bumper and we were making a killing (late 90's). He was selling them on the open market for just under $600. He was making a killing too. When I asked him, he told me he charged that much because his shop was the *only place in the world* you could buy a "new" Camaro bumper for your restoration.
I mean - charge whatever the market will bear Brother...but once you've tapped the very last customer willing to pay $70, at that point you're going to have to think about customers like myself...and hope we haven't already spent our money with your competitor.

self defense weapon laws are weird and usually rule as "if you were carrying with the intent to use it as a weapon, it was illegal." something like this, even though it has some use as a tool, is very clearly a weapon, and the name of the product does not help. there's a lot of legal precedent for this, at least in the US. people think the same thing about canes, but if you're not crippled it's probably gonna take some selling to convince the judge you weren't carrying it as a weapon.

Still wouldn't fly in Germany though...the problem here is, that a court still has some wiggle room in interpretation what constitutes a prohibited weapon. Also, if one uses this in an emergency to protect themselves, german law states precisely that the method of deflection should not exceede the power inflicted by the attacker, so if you use a hardened tool against someone using fists they might still charge you, as its considered an "overreaction". Notwehr and Notstand Laws are something uncanny...

It would be illegal to carry this in Canada for self defence. The law is based on intent so if you carry an umbrella and hit someone with it who’s robbing you and tell the police you where carrying it for self defence you would be charged, but if your carrying it for rain and just so happened to have to used it to defend yourself that’s probably not a charge…. Such stupid laws. Therefore, yes you can probably carry this as long as it’s a “bottle opener”

I would love to buy one! But in switzerland where i live theres one big problem. It will definetly be listet oder spottet by the police and identyfied as a "dangerous object".
