Well intensity of pain also depends upon the perception of the pain for example: getting slapped by your crush is not as painful as getting slapped by your school teacher . Lmfao XD XD
This is the best video that help me to understand the pain gate theory...iam in final year of bachelor in physiotherapy & found hard this topic since first yr...tqq so much sirr...tomorrow is my neuro viva...
The pacinian is responsible for 90% of gate control, but it's a motion/position sense nerve, not deep touch. Merckel disks are deep touch. One of the reasons TENs units aren't as effective is often they send impulses at 20-120Hz, but the Pacinian responds most strongly to 180-250Hz). (Manfredi, PloS one 2012:7(2):31203.)
Thank you for creating such a succinct and pertinent video. Can you recommend any sources which have MCQ style questions like the ones you ask at the end of the video :)
Sir i have question with regard to these long neurons , for example the A delta fiber , in which form this neuron will travel to the spinal cord ! In a form of nerve? For example if there is a damage to the biceps, this A delta fiber will travel inside the musclocutaneous nerve or what .☺️ and also for the second order neuron how it will travel to the brain , sorry if my question is confusing but i really want to imagine this 🙏🏻
To get to the brain, the second order neurons travel via the neospinothalamic tract and the paleospinothalamic tract. The first order neurons carrying pain signals from the head and face travel through cranial nerve V( trigeminal nerve). is this why a hug takes away all my pain :')
😂😂😂

No it's a different Theory 😂😂😂😹
This really helped to solidify my understanding of the "if in doubt, choose C" concept.

I've visited quite a few channels, this is hands down the best one for studying
Very informative. Helped me understand the mechanism of TENS as an analgesia method in labour! Thanks
Finally I get it! No one explained it to me this way, thanks 😍
Thank you so much for this! Now I understand how the application of TENS can reduce the pain felt by the patient!
This helped so much! Thank you! I'm certain this is going to be one of the essay questions on my pathophysiology exam. This really helped me out.
Great explanation. thank you. I watched a lot of videos on this and your is by far the clearest.
thank you soo much this video is the best one yet and this video even helped a Turkish student
This was driving me crazy! That was a really good explanation and animation, thank you so much!!🌻🌻🌻
Easy to understand and informative video. I do wish people would stop calling nociceptive input "pain signals", though.
Thanks for your easy and interactive explanation
You kind of sound like Pedro Pascal! Thanks for the video 😊
Excellent graphic clear presentation ❤

I submit the alternative theory that massage etc spreads local concentrations of cytokines away from the pain nerves
Great explanation. Thank you!

Excelent👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
doesn't the pain become conscious once it reaches the Thalamus?
Helpful thanks. What's the difference between the gate control theory of pain and specificity theory of pain?
nice bro..simple and concise :D
do inhibitory neurons inhibit via endogenous opioids or GABA/Gly?
i just wanna ask you a question so when activating the DCML pathway are we activating the a beta fibres?
Yes that is correct
Informative
I feel like the answer for the last question in G
agreed
could we ease the finger pain by massaging other body parts?
Typically it needs to be close to the area that was injured
