Ashley, this video was so helpful and specific. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I was unfortunately just let go from my current teaching position, so this will help me a lot in the upcoming weeks when applying for other jobs :)
Yay! I am so glad it helped! I was hesitant on doing a video like this. Mostly because it is just my advice and personal opinions. But I know a lot of people have asked for a video on resumes/cover letters. I know you are going to find a new role that will be prefect for you! Keep me updated on how everything goes!!! Please! :)
Aww, thanks girl. That’s so sweet. Unfortunately, I found out today that I didn’t get another job that I applied for, so I’m still feeling a little defeated. But, on the bright side, I’m coming to Orlando from February 5-8 for a visit, so that’s definitely something that I’m looking forward to! Let me know if you have any time off during those days and would want to meet up for a bit. These past few days I’ve been thinking about possibly moving back to the Orlando area and would love to pick your brain about it :)
Getting ready to apply for a PI and I am super nervous! I've done the DCP and have school samples of work but almost don't feel fully qualified. I'm still struggling with what to put in my cover letter because my job history is very basic, like food service. Any specific advice for Disney in general? applying for a PI in my major field (communication) just don't have a lot of outside work to show for it yet.
Thank you for this video! It has helped me so so much:) Would you ever put color on a resume? Nothing crazy like neon pink but maybe a light blue? Please let me know!
I don't have color on my resume, but I wouldn't put too much if I did. I would keep it very natural and professional looking. Unless you were applying for a graphic design internship.
Thank you for this! Unfortunately I've already applied to a few within Disney that I'm interested in buttttt for the most part I hit on everything you said except I was soft on the story telling and kept my education above work but I can take that into consideration for my next applictions HOWEVER I DO HAVE A QUESTION One thing that always stumps me for a few seconds and I've been hesitant on is sometimes Disney Careers doesn't specify necessarily which department the job falls under so I never know who to address cover letters to/if I need to/what's a good back up? I usually just put Recruitment Head OR Recruitment Director and then department if it gives it and if not just Walt Disney Company and the city the job is listed in. Any suggestions on that? ALSO sorry for writing a novel over here~
I always address my Disney Cover Letters to: "Dear Disney Recruiter." because the so many different people will see the cover letter. So many. Recruiters, your future boss, other leaders. And the address that I use is the Disney Casting Building.
Gotcha! Thanks :) and wait okay this might sound stupid but so just literally the address for casting? So like TWDC and address after or literally just the address without a specific department/company name or whatever? Sorry again
This should be required viewing for those of us serious about applying to a PI!! Thank you so much. Do you know if they offer PI's all throughout the year? I JUST graduated in Dec 2017 and I don't want to miss my chance to apply!
Hi Nancy! Cover Letters can be as short at an email or a whole page length. Personally, mine are almost a whole page length. But, it really depends on the job you're applying for.
Great video! I was curious if you recommend submitting your resumes/cover letters as word docs or as pdfs for disney? i’ve heard mixed messages about this.
I have a question about applying for Fall '19 professional internships. There are no concrete start dates given for the internships I've looked into, just the month of June. I have a wedding I will be a bridesmaid in mid-June and would be unable to begin before that. Should I still apply to them given my time constraint? Thank you for this video, by the way! Your five-star tip will totally help me in the future!
Hey, I am also looking for a Fall '19 internship. Usually "fall '19" means the fall semester for august/september - november/December. You should definitely still apply, if you haven't already. Good luck
Do you have any advice on where to place coursework on a resume? Also, could I also use the 5-star point technique for that coursework? I was also planning on applying for event related internships, and I have classroom experience planning events which could be helpful.
I recommend not to put coursework on your resume. Because they can see what courses you took by looking into your school. However, if you did have a classroom experience planning events with a company or something similar you could put that under work experience. That is what I did. But listing different classes that you took just seems to take up too much space on a resume, when you could go more into detail about another position or project that you worked on. But you can include coursework in your cover letter and you can use the 5-star technique for that!
Usually, it depends on where you are at in your life. If you are right out of college then that will be the main focus of your resume. As you gain experience in the corporate world, that will be your main focus. Education at the top, with dates of course, tells your story right from the start rather than making readers wonder why there isn't a long job history. After all, there are many people that take long breaks for various reasons, people that make major career changes. Those are just two examples.
Hello! I’m applying for the Disney college program next semester and i was wondering if that specific internship also requires a cover letter? Also what could you put if you have no previous work experience?
You don't need a cover letter or resume for the DCP! But you do for professional internships! If you don't have work experience, I would put some of your volunteer experience on there!
Thank you so much for posting this! i really want to get into the disney professional internship program so this was really helpful!
Thank you so much for sharing this, I found my internship here internship@consumerchoice.com
30 seconds in and I already love your energetic personality. 💕

Thank you! This was so helpful, especially with the 5 Star Cover Letter. I’m definitely going to use that when applying for PI’s in the fall!

Just Walt Disney World Casting Center and its physical address. And then Dear Disney recruiter. I know for me.. I don't put the specific department
How do you connect on the cover letter for a Disney + internship position?
This should be required viewing for those of us serious about applying to a PI!! Thank you so much. Do you know if they offer PI's all throughout the year? I JUST graduated in Dec 2017 and I don't want to miss my chance to apply!
They do offer PIs all year. Most of the applications drop in January or in August. But some of them are spread out throughout the season.
Hi Tadasherz! What is an appropriate length for a Disney cover letter? And would you ever do a cover letter review in one of your vids? Thanks.
Hi Nancy! Cover Letters can be as short at an email or a whole page length. Personally, mine are almost a whole page length. But, it really depends on the job you're applying for.
Ok thank you. =)

Always. Always. Always. Submit resumes and cover letters as PDF documents. Always. Whether it is with Disney or not.
Also, Thanks for watching! hahaha. If you do have any more questions, just let me know! :)
