Thanks for sharing all your costs with us. I’ll be moving to Ajijic in January and would especially like to know the names of the charities that you talked about in this video. I would like to look into supporting them myself as well.
Wow! Mexico has become way too expensive. Especially for a temporary visa. I’m paying $200 a month in rent for a 1-bedroom, modern apartment and $50 a month in utilities. English is spoken here and the US dollar is used. Beer is 50 cents and a meal is $1 to $5. I live easily on a budget of just under $1,000 a month on social security. Been here for 2 years. I was thinking of returning to live in Mexico but can’t afford it anymore. Nice video by the way!
100% correct ! And - Mexico is going to get much more expensive as the Peso strengthens and the USD weakens. Siem Reap is an awesome place to retire. Cambodia's "retirement visa" blows Mexico away !!!!!! 🤗 ruclips.net/video/4fVUzoZKPJ8/видео.htmlsi=qh61ZZhdj-ARs9XO ruclips.net/video/8S9If-A-wPo/видео.htmlsi=UNGC_sBcbEaNrdK8
Hey, Jerry, usually when you do your living expenses videos (which are among my favorites) you modify for a single person. I don't think I heard you do so this time. What would estimated costs be for a single retiree?
Cool, thanks realistically for a single person because they do a lot more entertaining meaning they go out to outside activities. I figure about $1800 a month to $2200 a month.
@@JerryBrownTravels Thanks. And you've mentioned this in other videos on this topic, there's also a big difference in just going to the nearby towns. I was just in Ajijic (with side day trips to Chapala, etc.), and just food prices were very different. I noticed that basically everything at a restaurant is $100p+. For instance, I ate a "torta" (Mexican style sandwich) in Ajijic and it was around 110. I went to Chapala and the very same sandwich was $60p.
@@neighborinillinois9404 Would rent prices be about the same % less expensive ? One single gringo (last year) claimed he lives very well in Chapala for under $1000/mo. and eats out every day ! (?) 🤔
Your monthly groceries are more expensive than mine in the states. More than double. I seldom eat out so I do not have a big expense there. Hidden sugar and oil in restaurant food and you do not know what kind of oil they are using either.
I understand some of the things down here are more expensive because they’re imported into Mexico as an example when we shop at Costco it’s pretty much the same price that we pay in California at Costco
@@JerryBrownTravels I was wondering what Costco prices would be down there in Mexico. I just shopped at Costco last Wednesday. Their prices àre a little cheaper on some things than the grocery store like honey, milk, bread etc but inflation has hit hard. Even at Costco. I mostly cook from scratch so that helps. Looks like Laurie does too. It would be nice if she put out a little cookbook show casing her recipes and what she grows in her garden.
@@JerryBrownTravels If you directly compare prices, prices at Costco in Mexico in my experience are definitely higher than in the USA. 10-20% higher for most items. You could probably save money going to other grocery stores and buying at fruterias.
We have lived in Mexico for 12years. Now we are moving back to the United States it's actually less expensive now and the new government is very scary now be careful things are changing in Mexico now be careful and be safe
@dr.josefudeyama64 You mean the cartel of retired gringos...lol The cartel generally doesn't mess with you if you aren't trying to compete with their drug or other illegal businesses, or you are showing off your wealth and drawing unnecessary attention to yourself. There are places in the States that are more dangerous than ANY place I've been in Mexico.
Thanks for keeping us updated on the inflation rates in Mexico. It was another great video from you guys.
Our pleasure!

where are you living? That sounds so good. Maybe I’ll book an airline to check it out.
Can you let me know where this place is? I like beer at 50 cents too
@@tonyv2010 Who doesn’t? Haha. Siem Reap, Cambodia!

Thanks for the information. I hope to move to Mexico soon. What is the "car registration" you pay monthly?
It’s a one time annual fee. I just broke it out per month.
