That was such a pretty rug saturated in dirt. What a fantastic job! By halfway in the video it is already so bright and light that it looks like it could not brighten up anymore, but it sure does! Loved the last shots of it being rolled up, you can really see what a clean up was done.

No, the water is needed in the washing process. In the washing machine you have water in the drum, it is not pumped out and clothes are not washed without water.
