NY resident and CCW holder here. As unfortunate as this state is, NY has a “duty to retreat” clause in the case of use of deadly force. So if this guy was really defending himself against someone with a knife, Jason by LAW had to have tried to run away or separate himself from the situation before he makes the decision to kill someone. It is a horrible law and should be changed, but if this was a legitimate case of self defense, he should know from his classes that after killing someone, you more than likely should call the police then ask for a lawyer. That cop has anger issues. He shot subject when he was lying helplessly on the ground with his knife, incapacitated. The intense anger was visible in his body language. They say don't bring a knife to a gunfight for a reason. I thought that was beyond reason , overkill, and against police policy
This case is terrible. This is what happens when you let your ego get the best of you. Think about that next time you start to road rage or dispute with someone. Sorry for being way late, but you can hear one of the initial cops mention how there "was someone in the vehicle" which makes me think they were just driving around running parked cars plates and later one mentions they were just trying to figure out why their car was beeping at them At least that would explain the lack of a felony stop somewhat
As a former interior design consultant, I am not sure what these officers are thinking. The lack of accountability and transparency is not a good thing.
@@swashkiv7509Funding has been cut for NYPD within recent years. Former mayor Bill de Blasio cut funding by $1 billion in 2020. Look it up. NYC was one of the leading places for the defund the police movement. It was announced last year that Mayor Eric Adams would be cutting the budget by another $132 milllion and that the next 5 police academy classes of officers this year would be canceled. In 1980, NYPD budget accounted for 5.2% of the overall city budget. In 2022, it accounted for only 4.9%, even though crime has soared in recent years. It is predicted that the NYPD will have only 29k officers by 2025. Yet crime rates are way up. Migrants are flooding the city. The liberal shithole is being turned into one big cesspool of crime and misery. It's pitiful that New Yorkers are allowing this.

Crazy right?! Not only late to the party but threat was down and not moving and he missed both shots from that distance. Thank God he wasn't high on both shots or that they didn't ricochet into his partners across from him. At least he won't be charged with anything lol
i watched 10mins and thought whats 20mins more about... well it was a mexican standoff- with a hostage taken, being the suspect himself (the cops acted like it was a hostage incident doing ring around the rosie till someone made a move)
"Wanted in connection to a double homicide" ... I can't believe how casually these cops walked up to and "chatted" with the suspect. They were completely justified in approaching with guns drawn and ordering the driver out of the vehicle. CRAZY. Ok, six mins in...this cop is DUMB!
Agreed! I was in law enforcement in Tx and we would have never been this casual about a potential homicide suspect. That would have been a felony stop (guns out, ordering the driver out of the car at gun point, walk backwards towards us with hands on his head). We were always taught complacency is the #1 thing that will get cops unalived. These officers are complacent.
@@Steven-gv1kewhile I agree, this is nypd we’re talking about. Kings of whack butt backwards policies. I’m just playing devils advocate. I’m most likely dead wrong 😂
To be fair though, I suspect "politics" in Tx vs NY has a lot to do with it. They probably regularly get called racist if they were to pull out their pistols on a 🥷 man, regardless if the car is wanted in connection. People will say up there "you didn't know it was him for sure" or something goofy like that. In Tx people back law enforcement so we don't have to walk on eggshells as much. People in Tx prioritize law abiding citizens safety/rights over criminals.
Yeah TX is a little different. Cops are handcuffed by policy and procedure. Any little slip up on body cam and they are suspended and roasted by the NYC media. Plus their pay sucks and they aren’t respected one bit by the population of the Burroughs.
He murdered a father and son in cold blood. They gave him every chance. I feel way worse for the family he tore apart. I saw that video it was absolutely horrific.
Are you talking about the one who kept saying: "All we axe is that..." 1st time saying axe I thought he simply made a mistake in the heat of the moment, but he repeated it at least 30 times! Do they even require Cops to have their Elementary School Diploma over there?!😂
As a retired trash removal officer, these officers' tactics were extremely misjudged. I don't know how many times the officer with teh bodycam 'axed' him nicely.
As a retired professor of not giving a fcuk about crossfire, the way these cops spoke to this guy was embarrassing, it’s like they had never encountered a human before
As an officer in a major metropolitan area, it’s fucking WEIRD to see officers not call for a backup or put out over the radio that they have a HOMICIDE SUSPECT stopped and taking a far different approach to this than they did. Making a phone call? What. The. Fuck. This should’ve been a massive response from the start and their small talk was painful as hell to hear. I can’t believe how this played out at the beginning.
We dont want to hear from the peanut gallery. Stick to violating peoples rights. Sure you're great at that. How many times has your department deen sued?.
It wasn’t “small talk”, there was a racial element to this in a city and state that is known for its liberal identity politics and race riots. Every officer involved here was white and the suspect was black so the officers were going the extra step to de-escalate if they could by trying to calmly talk.
That's a shame, I feel bad for everyone there. You guys did your job and showed compassion towards that man. I really thought you were going to be abe to talk him down. Prayers to all concerned from Columbus Ohio .
Also have some of the highest turnover rates. Probably has nothing to due with the fact that most of the people they arrest are out in less than 24 hours.
THAT was the worst Cross Fire situation I have ever seen in my entire life in Law enforcement … and those officers that continued to fire AFTER he was on the ground and not moving need to be suspended and or disciplined. The officers , even though uncommon , did a great job at deescalation in engaging him in conversation , but letting him listen to the radio traffic was extremely stupid ! In the end , you knew he wasn’t going to go because he kept apologizing to the officers and knew they would shoot him if he charged at them. I didn’t see the video ( will have to look for it )everyone is talking about , but he had me almost feeling sorry for him. In the end , he took two lives and he paid the consequences .
They need TRAINING, not discipline. There was no egregous act on their part, they simply have not been trained to a quality standard. Training is expensive and nobody likes to pay more in taxes.
@@bighaasfly training is an on going thing that all officers have to do yearly or bi-yearly . Continuing to fire two shots and hit a person ( or not .. in this case ) who obviously not moving is in need of fire arms training and discharging his weapon after it was no longer need and possibly hit the officer to his direct front should receive a letter of reprimand and Sent to Training . The public viewing this would say , as I do that Officer was overzealous and used poor judgment .
Those last shots, missing by feet, miracle they didn't hit another officer. Which ever one needs range practice. Here, they practice at 10-15 feet. Stationary target. A typical ten year old here can handle and shoot better, guess that's a city vs country thing. I made many 50$ bills from ones at the range that said "no way a 380 snub nose will shoot 100 yards, let alone hit anything," With a Taurus, aim 3 ft high. They should be able to know what each of their weopns do at 50 yards-150 ft minimum. 223 holders should be able to shoot a nice grouping from around 50-200 yards (600ft) and know where that bullet will hit at every distance, Ex; 3 inch high at 50 is dead on at 100, 4inches low at 150 ..... Same with the side arms. Point blank to 150 ft, 50 yards minimum. Once a year at a target 10-15 feet away is just ridiculous. Funny part, these guys train for it the day before. A 7 year old can hit at ten feet😂 Anyways, it turned out for the best for them in this situation. Have a good year & Stay safe.
It just came to my mind when I first saw this on the news a few weeks ago but since you're an officer maybe u might know but why don't officers, especially in major cities, have tranq guns and also why didn't they just tase him?...I've never been a cop but I read alot and have a history with NYPD and I was thinking most everything u said including them do a decent job of continuously talking to him but as someone who has been talked down by NYPD(over 20 years ago but still) and someone who really doesn't like False Concern I think some of the things they were saying were doing more harm than good but at least they tried..too bad they did a bad job of practically everything else

A taser is fine when the suspect is UNARMED. This was an Officer trying to deescalate with others joining in. Look at the back ground & there is families living in those houses. Not easy to contain him while keeping the residents safe too. I have seen the tasers fail way more often then they work. Same with the bean bag shot guns. Police need better less than lethal weapons.
Ah yes, the magical tasers… it’s not like we haven’t seen those fail time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time and time again, especially when people are wearing thick winter outfits like sweaters. We all know tasers work 100% of the time.
The crazy part i have seen NY officers be very aggressive toward innocent ppl but you have a man that just murdered two people and the NY officers are acting nervous and scared.
That was no self defense shooting like the suspect claimed. His neighbor was walking away from him when the suspect shot him in the back. We all saw the security cam footage.
its a manipulation tactic police use to gain the perps trust. they know hes a bad guy they are just negotiating to get him to cooperate without the use of violence.
This is crazy. So many missed opportunities. Dude never even looked behind him once. Taser, Rubber ball, Pepper ball, Tear gas, Pepper spray. with cover to the officer. This list goes on and on. (Speaking with experience here) The department should be investigated independently as to why not one officer even attempted a less lethal at least once.
Yeah, all the officers had full lethal pointed at him. Most of the time they’ve got a variety of rounds, and they start with less lethal- especially since he didn’t have a firearm.

It is a horrible law and should be changed, but if this was a legitimate case of self defense, he should know from his classes that after killing someone, you more than likely should call the police then ask for a lawyer. Prove yourself innocent to the jury.
Thanks for letting me know, I had just commented that I doubted it was self defense.

@@bighaasfly training is an on going thing that all officers have to do yearly or bi-yearly . Thank the libtards for training these officers!!!
