It looks odd, but trust me, those tyres are much better for indian roads filled with pot holes..I have pre lci g30 530d with low profile tyres and have changed atleast 3 tyres and alloys in 6 years ownership.

And this segment is dominated by chauffeur driven buyers so 5 series wouldn't be that ideal in this case if your main usage is in the rear. But me personally, probably the 5 series is the better car but both of them are just too expensive for a bunch of 4 cylinder engines...

I think you guys really missed the issue with the rear windshield blind as well. There isn't one in the 5. Given the ridiculous summers in the north, IMO it's a HUGE miss.
If the 5 series had electric reclining seats and retractable blinds, it would have won hands down. A major trick missed by BMW. They could have even priced the car 5 L more.
That Active Brake Assist thing is spot on !! It's damn irritating to keep fumbling into the menu and disable it every time you start the car unless you like being rear ended. I have the 2024 C class and I really hope they bring the same thing into our car with OTA update
I really miss the 3 pointed star on the bonnet of the Merc. It adds grace, beauty, elegance to it. The tail lights on the Merc look amazing. The BMW kidney grille looks spectacular.
I am thing that Gavin chose BMW over Mercedes. However, Autocar wanted to show Mercedes as a winner at the end. This I am saying when they added additional footage (15:49) when Gavin said BMW rides well and one more when he said BMW is better in cushioning and immediately followed by a outside footage (19:21). Somehow I am not convinced here that Mercedes is better as I feel there was an Intervention!!. My opinion.
So basically the ride, the drive, the comfort, the interior quality, the insulation is better in the BMW but Merc only wins because of one extra screen and its rear seat slides. What a ridiculous conclusion

Very good review by Autocar India. If #BMW5Sereies has the rear seat controls and entertainment package would be a perfect all rounder. #MercedesBenzEClass has that except the entertainment package. But both cars misses out Air Suspension and Cool/Hot Rear Seats (Which should have been offered in a near 70 Lacs plus Rupees cars, isn't it ???).
Hello, Autocar, I love your videos, and you are often my first choice when it comes to watching car videos. But, i have a particular issue with your speed versus time graph. Speed is a function of time, and conventionally, time is in the x axis, and speed is in the y axis. A quick glance at the graph, and I thought, Merc is faster than BMW, as Merc's graph line (blue) is steeper than BMW's (red) line.
5 series is better than E class now and bmw is giving competition to mercedes in this segment but the old E class and best was the last to last generation was so beautiful and classy but now bmw is better . Now mercedes is just adding tech in cars especially screens .
When ride quality is better in one, it is the better car; especially when chauffeured! Pillow, soft-close & boss-mode to push a seat do not all add up to negate this shortcoming. Not to mention, the dynamic envelope too!
5 series looks so bad, even the new 7 series kinda grew on me but this is just objectively bad compared to previous gens. Also what's up with those touch controls for AC and other important functions, the regulatory authorities should do something about these touch controls because they're a huge safety hazard. The previous generations of each cars were much better
It's like picking the least downgraded car between the two. Both have cut corners at a very stingy level which takes away the luxury tag from them. Absence on ventilated seats, rear curtains, Adaptive Cruise control, HUD, air suspensions doesn't make them stand up against some even the baby names in Indian car market. Considering they have these features in global, but not in Indian market screams bias. Launch variants if it about money. Atleast 450 should have had these. God, 6GT will be missed badly.
So glad I booked the E Class LWB!! last year I had bought the C Class but it's suspension is very soft and the car touches on all speed bumps, pretty annoying and disheartening and since the car's gonna be chauffeur driven, I'm super happy also, who tf prances in a LWB car 😂😂
What kind of Kudos was that for the manually removable rear window blinds in an 80 lakhs car? Also if BMW is offering a LWB 5 series, they should've given seat recline which Mercedes is offering since the last 7 years in their E-Class
Both these cars are confused. They are based on regular sedans but have been "modified" for chauffer use for India and China. So if these are cars are meant to be primarily chauffer driven, why have THREE screens for the driver? None for the boss in the back? Is the boss going to reach over to the front every time he needs to answer a call? Who is really going to watch that 3rd screen? The equipment is there but makes no sense for the purpose for which it has been built.
Unless you live in Jammu, you dont need heated seats. It is stupid to keep expecting it. Cooled seats are a must for an E class and that is a shocking omission
This isn't even much of a comparison. One look (literally) and most will have made their decisions. The segment that is more competitive is the one below this. You've got C, the 3 and the A6 all very similarly priced, and all very good looking cars.
They seem to be milking Indian customers with just the badge. Bringing long wheel base and then no seat ventilation?! When a Safari/XUV can do more than this, why can’t the Germans charging more than 3 times? And that shitty ride quality in Merc - what were they thinking? BMW new gens are horribly designed to say the least. How hard is it, seriously?
The design of the individual elements is certainly better in the BMW than in its rival, but the Mercedes is much better proportioned and looks more elegant.
Those speed breakers are no real test...there are a lot of bad ones in India and both will struggle big time...when you buy these cars in India you have to choose your road very carefully

I have the BMW 6 GT and honestly that car has much more features than the new 5, I feel the 6 shouldn’t have been replaced.

The E class looks 100 times better and is more plush from inside. Don't give a crap about performance as we hardly use it in congested cities.

Currently the best BMW is 3 series gran limo and best Mercedes is Glc latest gen. Absolute masterpieces.
