Probably because when you watch right handed shooters, your brain's neurons mirror their shot, so you imagine yourself shooting the ball. So because you're used to the strength and tension in your dominant hand, you perceive the right handed shooter as shooting similarly. With a left handed shooter, you don't have a concept of that, so you assume that there is no tension or rigidity in their shot, since your weak hand is like that as well. Mirror neurons are what allow us to watch and listen to people, then copy that behavior.
