Great review. I am a huge fan of the cartoon myself. I just received mine today. Really to get these figures from. The cartoon is a young Henry's dream come true. I like the figure, but does the clear plastic seem to be yellowing on your copy? Anyway, thanks for the review and good job.
Thank you for watching! I understand your excitement for these figures, I'm right there with you! I'm not 100% certain, but I *think* what is causing the yellowing is body oil. I had that occur with mine too, but I gave the figure a wipe down with a lens cleaning cloth. The wet kind that are in packets. I used those to keep the translucent plastic clear for the video.
I've always hated Super 7 figures, and I mean hated them. Lol! I've never examined one that impressed me. Their quality has never been very good, especially for their overpriced nature. I understand they are more collectibles than toys, but even with that in mind I've always thought they were subpar. I think a lot of it comes down to the basic cartoon sculpts. Their simplistic, vintage style just gives the illusion that they'd be tougher figures. Like actual vintage figures. That may not make sense, and I know that is all due to my personal way of thinking, but it's an assumption I have a hard time fighting. That being said, that invisible Shelia figure looks awesome. I've said before that I'm a huge sucker for translucent figures, and that is one of the clearest translucent figures I've ever seen. I too loved the D&D cartoon growing up. So much so, that I almost picked up the Hasbro cartoon figures. That's saying a lot, since I'm a very strict GI Joe collector. I have maybe 30 figures outside of GI Joe, and that's counting my Valaverse figures. I'm interested in seeing the rest of this line once they are in hand. If they look as good as this figure, I might pick up the heroes. I'd love to have a small D&D shelf. You seem happy with this figure, and you're always pretty objective with your reviews. It's been a while since I've handled a Super 7 figure, so maybe the quality has improved.
I totally get what you're saying about Super7. I've been on the fence about them for awhile now, but the D&D collection pushed me over the edge. I've been picking up the Godzilla figures, and I don't have a quality issue with them, just that they're kinda pricey for what you get with them. They've recently taken on investors who have apparently pumped A LOT of money into the company, so I'm being cautiously optimistic that they're QC is going to get better. I have heard some pretty bad things about their G.I.Joe line. Some have said that Cobra Commander's ankles were so weak that he can't stand. And truthfully the SDCC BAT that I have has really weak knees. Sheila though has some pretty good joints, especially for a translucent figure. Between the BAT and her, she's definitely the better figure.
