btw I beat him because he ran outa cards (that's not a bad idea I used the same deck and just cleared his minions as much as I could while keeping myself healthy I did get lucky and NEVEr got hit by his bone spikes soooooooooo I guess that's something to keep in mind
Disclaimer for everyone who watches this. This match up is mostly based on luck. Its not Tommy Js fault as the deck itself should work however, you have to rely on getting lucky and getting the cards you need early on and him not getting the 15 damage bone card early. Multiple times after 3 mana he dropped the card and I was left helpless. There are very few things that can eliminate something like that that early. If you have something like that you have to sacrifice pulling out a minion that could do damage later and thus fall father behind. You might get lucky and take out the first but the constant beating from him just takes its toll as well. Mind Control is a great card but that again relies on you being able to get to 10 mana to start and then its a waiting game for him to play it. Not to mention that most of the time at 10 mana he himself has the fire power to take out the card quickly once you get it. In other words great deck idea Tommy and maybe some will get lucky after a lot of tries, just be aware it is all based around luck. Take care and ggs everyone.

B R U H. I was trying to kill this dude for dAys with my Basic Custom Priest deck, and yours helped me out so much. I modified it to be exactly like yours and after a few tries I switched it up a lil and got him on the second try. I'm shaking and crying, tysm Tommy J :"""0 By the way, if anybody is interested in what cards I used to change the deck and defeat Lord Marrowgar, here it is: Elven Archer x2 Mind Vision x2 Northshire Cleric x2 Power Word: Shield x2 Acidic Swamp Ooze x2 Divine Spirit x1 River Crocolisk x2 Shadow Word: Pain x2 Razorfen Hunter x1 Shattered Sun Cleric x2 Chillwind Yetti x2 Sen'jin Shieldmasta x2 Gurubashi Berserker x2 Holy Nova x2 Boulderfist Ogre x1 Lord of the Arena x1 Sathrovarr x1 Mind Control x1 I'm not sure if Sathrovarr is a basic card, though... but it really saved my ass when I thought my Gurubashi Berserker with, like, 17 attack and 13 lives was gonna go down the next turn. Mind Control is cool, but I wouldn't reccomend relying on it too much, or it'll stab u in the back with how much mana it consumes per use and the fact that Marrowgar's deck is REALLY agressive, so if you dont have lots of minions on defence, that one stolen Bone Spike won't really matter anymore. What I reccomend to do (what worked for me) is trying to get the 'lucky draw' and focusing on buffing up your Gurubashi Berserker. A constant taunt on the side would really help protect your Berserker and yourself (at least from Marrowgar's minions). Some say that taking one blow from Bone Spike is ok, but for me it was always fatal, no matter how much health I had or how good my cards were, so try not to consider that. Destroy these guys with Shadow Word: Pain and your buffed Berserkers. It's nice to have a Northsire Cleric on the board when you constantly heal up your Gurubashi's, and they also work wonders if you're a fan of Holy Nova (also, Holy Nova itself is such an awesome card to use against this boss, cuz he usually puts minions with max 5 health on board and if you've beaten half of them up, you could finish almost evey single one of them with Holy Nova next turn). Woah, I got a lil caught up writing all this haHA- Hope this helps and if you have questions on how to defeat Lord Marrowgar with this deck, feel free to ask me. I fought him so much that I think I even have his every pattern memorised. -Help- .
I got lucky and he stole a soul priest from me and put it out, so his full heal killed him, it might have been one in a million chance, but probably worth putting in your deck anyway on the off chance that it happens
Douglas Brock I am even luckier because I don't even Have a soul priest in my deck. He get a soul priest from undercity huckster and he killed himself with it......

I remember trying to follow this guide some years ago and not getting anywhere with it and i ended up eventually just giving up on the quest very frustrated. Well a few minutes ago i decided to try again just for fun and on my second attempt i managed to get 2 bonespikes with mind control... i can't believe i fucking got it. Heres a tip, but it relies on a certain situation...He can have the card that makes the hero Ragnaros. You just need somehting with atleast 8 attack and a way to get around taunt (If he has some). Crush the Minion, let him become Ragnaros, kill him, Done. Its situational af, but it works
The missed chances to draw off of the cleric hurt me to watch, otherwise nice video! I cheesed this with evolve shaman, it's nice to see others' approach at it.
actually, the deck i used to beat this level was based around the darkness. i also had 2 mind visions (makes a copy of a random card in your opponents hand), 2 shadow word = pains (kills anything with less than 3 attack), a kooky chemist (flips the health and attack of a minion around), and 2 iron beak owls (silences a minion) to help deal with the bone spike. granted, the darkness is mostly luck, but i risked it and it payed off.
Nice to see the princess is back. I thought these were far easier than previous efforts, with the possible exception of Kara. BL shaman. Pirate warrior. Heal/silence priest first attempt wins for me for all three.
Wow that really worked thank you so much I tried 6 times and on the sixth time I won. I done a little change to the deck I removed the 2 mind controls and put 2 cabal shadow priests.
I just beat this Sumbitch finally after 20 tries. I used the Druid and managed to out deck him. I couldn't believe that happened all I had was an 8/8 and a 9/5 eventually he took enough damage that i was able to kill him. He couldn't do anything but end turn it was amazing. I wish I had recorded it, it was the best thing ever.
This boss is the embodiment of all of blizzards balancing mistakes, fast tough monsters, immortal against any deck that isnt an rko insta kill, able to one shot you from 30 health if he gets two specific monsters, and completely luck based.

I got lucky though , i controlled the board until 9 mana, only then he played his bone spike, I mind controlled, and after a couple of turns I drew the second mind control, then he played bone spike, I took it ...... and GG I am new to this game , thanks for the help

Everyone here still stuck, if priest doesn’t work and you have certain other cards and have played a bit of rogue, you could always try mill rogue and silence the enemy bone spikes. Gang up is very important, as is vanish.
i was playing with parts of this deck it was going alright then he he played the card that switch healing to damage dealing and one shot himself...ive been at this for like 4 hours total as i have like no cards at all(new guy)
Ah yes ... the infamous Auchenai Soulpriest. Not a bad card to have for a crafting cost of only 100 AD ... It's still TOTALLY RNG what card he steals though.
This fucking boss doesn't require skill, it requires pure luck....after 30 tries I still lose, in my previous turn he spawned 3 bone spike in just one round, what an idiot designed this boss should be fired instantly.
And I just won because that idiot bot used his healing power at the start of his round so my 8-8 taunts (I switched to Druid) could finish him off. Pure luck.....
It sucks that there is no heroic mode or challenges. The challengers were always fun to revisit even if I already got the cards, and, while heroic always called for a custom deck, Normal could often be done with a well structured deck - not neccisarily a custom. What's fun about forcing someone to build a specific deck?

I know this is dated but is Mind control no longer a gettable card, I don't see it in the crafting menu? Did it go wild. Am I just not able to get it anymore or do I have to open basic packs to get it?
I Used sceance .. mind vision .. shadow madness .. shadow word pain. Happy goul .. sceance copies any minion on the field puts in your hand .. play defensive clear board play bone spike defend it and get lethal with armanin war beast .. .. posoinous minions are a plus .. to take care of bone spike without shadow word or lethal .. took me a while but i finnaly figured it out . Best way to beat him is copy his minions .
I beat this guy after a lot of tries cause marrowgar's luck is good. i abandon the first plan (1st plan was to use light elemental with 2 power word shield and 2 double health) instead i improvise with gurubashi berserker, get him damaged as you could, heal him with power and spells. Im so proud of myself after that win

Jfc I needed this. Beat every adventure by myself and never had this much trouble. I tried pirate warrior and I got him down to 3 health. Tried mind breaker but it doesn't work on his hero power.

As others have said, a lot of people have been playing for years. There are pro players who have started free to play accounts and gotten to legend within a few weeks, so it is possible, just very, very difficult, and they have years of experience with the meta. That's sort of why I do these guides despite having so many cards (and I'm far from having every card) - because there are new people starting every day, and I want them to be able to make it a bit easier for them to start out
i started to play f2p around 2016 fall took me untill christmas to play comfortably with multiple classes. but if you want to get the basic set for one it shouldnt take you too long. i currently have around a dozen legendaries but i have disenchanted some of the useless ones. If you want a good cheap deck midrange hunter is your best bet, there are others just look around the forums.
honestly control works pretty well on him too. I used a C'thun mage deck and just played control on his minions until fatigue and super fat C'thun did their jobs
I stopped trying for the unlikely double bone spike kill, and you're right. I used control with *this* deck and got him to fatigue, finished him with two berserkers.
generally with Marrowgar control is just the more reliable option, it's not very flashy but if you can keep his board relatively clean and deal with bone spikes when they show he's pretty easy. Just like Lady deathwhisper is super easy if you start the match with a couple circle of healing in your hand.
I have tried this exact deck and played Marrowgar probably 20 times....I have yet to steal a Bone Spike...you do it on your first try???? On top of that, AI has a knack of putting 2 of them down before I can do anything meaning I'm dead. A little luck goes a long way.

I won with this deck but not the way you'd expect to win. Lord Marrowgar ran out of cards and I still had around 10 and my minions on field did 20 dmg so I waited till his fatigue would do 10 dmg before I attacked him with my minions
Everyone seems to think marrowgar is hard, Well Mr .marrowgar hasn't had a taste of big priest. It wrecks marrowgar turn after turn. You only need Barnes.
Ok, so the fact that we have to resort to luck and restarting until we get the precise cards needed to do the one strategy that maybe might have a chance at defeating this one is infuriating. How is that a game of skill?

So I was playing this deck trying to win and he pulled a prist card, the card he choose to play was Auchenai Soulpriest at the end of the turn as always he healed himself.... thats the story of my win lol.
Ik this is gonna sound dumb but why is there a gold version of a regular card is there a difference??? The buffs are the same so is the card just prettier?? Haha

yep, just 3 simple cards, i think there’s another card that makes a copy of it if you’re not lucky enough from mind vision. you can also silence the bone spike.
An Auchenai Soulpriest's card effect is that any heals by the owning player instead do damage, so instead of his hero power healing him to full, it instead hit him for his entire health pool :)
Please help, I can't beat him 😭😭😭 I tried over 20 times with different heroes. The closest I had was with the hunter but rng cards screwed me over. The damn bonestorm keep owning me. I have the worst luck. The closest I got him was 19 hp.
i actually won with using priest deck i won by actually clearing his deck so much that he will take 15 damage of fatigue cool way to try to defeat lord marrowgar

You could just steal a bone spike on turn 6 and divine spirit -> inner fire it, for 15 damage to face and another 16 from the attack

Any c thun deck will work. It depends on how good sets for cthun you have and spells that you have.
Crazed Alchemist was a good use for me, Swap 0/8 spike to an 8/0 thus killing it. First try win. Thanks :)

Best way to beat him is copy his minions .
Derranged docter as you will need healing .. marrowgar never attacks him and go's for the face once played .
I beat this guy after a lot of tries cause marrowgar's luck is good. i abandon the first plan (1st plan was to use light elemental with 2 power word shield and 2 double health) instead i improvise with gurubashi berserker, get him damaged as you could, heal him with power and spells.

Jfc I needed this. Beat every adventure by myself and never had this much trouble. I tried pirate warrior and I got him down to 3 health. Tried mind breaker but it doesn't work on his hero power.

Hearthstone is really pay to win, that's the main reason.
Time or money. Some people have been playing for years, others have dropped a ton of cash on the game.

As others have said, a lot of people have been playing for years. There are pro players who have started free to play accounts and gotten to legend within a few weeks, so it is possible, just very, very difficult, and they have years of experience with the meta.
That's sort of why I do these guides despite having so many cards (and I'm far from having every card) - because there are new people starting every day, and I want them to be able to make it a bit easier for them to start out
i started to play f2p around 2016 fall took me untill christmas to play comfortably with multiple classes. but if you want to get the basic set for one it shouldnt take you too long. i currently have around a dozen legendaries but i have disenchanted some of the useless ones.
If you want a good cheap deck midrange hunter is your best bet, there are others just look around the forums.
honestly control works pretty well on him too. I used a C'thun mage deck and just played control on his minions until fatigue and super fat C'thun did their jobs
I stopped trying for the unlikely double bone spike kill, and you're right. I used control with *this* deck and got him to fatigue, finished him with two berserkers.
generally with Marrowgar control is just the more reliable option, it's not very flashy but if you can keep his board relatively clean and deal with bone spikes when they show he's pretty easy. Just like Lady deathwhisper is super easy if you start the match with a couple circle of healing in your hand.

Max health heal and half health your hero is what always got me like it was 53 defeats on me and I only cried for 20 minutes
I like how he kill him in 20 minutes and its taken me multiple days of torment and ive never killed him to this day
I have tried this exact deck and played Marrowgar probably 20 times....I have yet to steal a Bone Spike...you do it on your first try???? On top of that, AI has a knack of putting 2 of them down before I can do anything meaning I'm dead. A little luck goes a long way.

Is this the default basic priest deck or a basic priest deck of your own making?
Dunno if this is outdated, but I’ve tried twice he got bone spike 3rd turn first time
Then second time he has TWO bone spikes one second turn one third turn

so my battle versus lord morrowgar he healed himself at 30 hp and died bug?
I won with this deck but not the way you'd expect to win.
Lord Marrowgar ran out of cards and I still had around 10 and my minions on field did 20 dmg so I waited till his fatigue would do 10 dmg before I attacked him with my minions
Everyone seems to think marrowgar is hard, Well Mr .marrowgar hasn't had a taste of big priest. It wrecks marrowgar turn after turn. You only need Barnes.

Ok, so the fact that we have to resort to luck and restarting until we get the precise cards needed to do the one strategy that maybe might have a chance at defeating this one is infuriating. How is that a game of skill?
Still working* tested ... it was the 20th try but it was worth it .. every single time so close.. But its about luck with this deck if u dont have any combo..
if u have cobalt scalebane and vicius fledling this fights gets much easier, i traded it with ogres and razorfen hunter, got it first try
I won this match with a Alarm-o-Bot Druid, it was simple but I had to restart many times
still trying to in this, i almost did with a gurubashi warrior with 27 atk but he died 1 turn too early.
ok just one question..... why keep trying to mind control a bone spike and not use a couple cards of the ones who copy cards of his deck? odds are you might get one drawn

So I was playing this deck trying to win and he pulled a prist card, the card he choose to play was Auchenai Soulpriest at the end of the turn as always he healed himself.... thats the story of my win lol.
Ik this is gonna sound dumb but why is there a gold version of a regular card is there a difference??? The buffs are the same so is the card just prettier?? Haha

yep, just 3 simple cards, i think there’s another card that makes a copy of it if you’re not lucky enough from mind vision. you can also silence the bone spike.
The secret is survive until he doesn't have cards, I won it with a Mage class
Lord marrowgar just conceded for me after playing a soul priest :/ can someone explain to me why this happened
An Auchenai Soulpriest's card effect is that any heals by the owning player instead do damage, so instead of his hero power healing him to full, it instead hit him for his entire health pool :)

Please help, I can't beat him 😭😭😭 I tried over 20 times with different heroes. The closest I had was with the hunter but rng cards screwed me over. The damn bonestorm keep owning me. I have the worst luck. The closest I got him was 19 hp.
I'm pretty fucking sure shuffling my 16/16 Acolyte of Agony into his deck counts as hard removal.
This is RNG at its fucking worst.
