While the focus might initially be on which government departments or officials will receive these vehicles, the larger issue pertains to the ongoing costs associated with their maintenance and fuel.

The Gambian President inspects about 100 vehicles designated for the Islamic Summit in Banjul.
Banjul (UNA) - The President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow, yesterday, Tuesday, April 30 (2024), inspected nearly 100 vehicles purchased by “Espace Motors.” These vehicles were officially received and delivered to the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in preparation for the Islamic Summit scheduled to be held in Banjul during Period 4-5 May 2024.

President Barrow commended the Vice President for leading the preparations and chairing the OIC Council meetings in his absence, ensuring smooth progress.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Banjul, government ministers and other dignitaries.

The shared madness of a consumer continent Africa is and the lack of vision to create anything of a productivity nature. Very sad. Look at how the ordinary individual citizens of the Gambia and Africa in general are changing the Agricultural landscape from Gardening, Animal husbandry, poultry, Orchards and farming. How can the government not think of building something to support these courses that could lead to total food sufficiency and employment.

We have similar problem in Kenya. It can be repurposed to serve the government. Relabel and rebrand them e.g give to law enforcers. It can also be repurposed as the president's entourage vehicles. Better yet sell to the the public. On the contrary I agree there is need for transport in all facets of the government.
