    Hi here's an update. This video is great BUT only for 2019 2020 models. It took ages but I eventually found the dam three pin connector for the wiring loom on my 2021 upside down fork version. It is mounted on another plastic tray that is held in with one torx screw at the bottom of the headstock near the clutch cable. The connector is right in the front of the frame hidden away beside another white connector. So you don't need to remove that bracket with the other black connectors on just under the front of the tank. It is hidden aargh. I hope this helps for anyone doing this at home on the new model.

      Thanks very much for the information, Ivor. I'm sure it'll be helpful for others with newer models. Safe riding.

      @@ruudspark Haha, no problem it took me ages to find where Triumph have hidden the connector on the new model. But once I found it all was simple, the grips do work well and are plug and play. Just find it in that triangular area at the front of the frame, just above the bottom steering stem bearing in that triangular part. :-)

      Thanks Ivor. I just used your comment to help me locate the connector on my 2023 scrambler 900.
      It is hidden quite well in there.

      Thanks for posting this. It really is hidden on the new Speed Twins!

    This kind of work is why I'm glad I worked the installation labor into part of the bike purchase deal. I'm sure they'd bill me 2 hours for this lmao.

    Very instructive! idea for a new video: valve clearance check 😁

    Good video, will be doing this soon myself. One note, you don't need to remove the tank. Just remove the rear bolt, and slide the tank back about 6 inches, and prop the front up with a block or roll of duct take. You can get to the wire harness from there quite easily.

      Thanks for the tip, Dave. We recognize there are shortcuts in getting some of these installations done, but we always go by the instruction manuals, to make sure people get the “fool-proof” method.

      @@3ftDeepChannel Yeah, I figured as much. I hate taking the tank off, always worried about dropping it or breaking one of the plastic fittings on the fuel line... So just sliding it back and propping up the front, gave me plenty of room to unplug the O2 sensors when I tuned my 2022 Speed Twin, and those plugs are right next to the heated grip plug... Makes it a lot easier...

    Great Video, thank you 🙏 What’s the “special bit” (spec? size?) for the throttle housing removal / re-install? Thanks again

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel 2 года назад +1

      The bit is a tri tip security bit the one that came with the spacer kit is marked S2 Y3.

    Your video was very helpful, and install went smoothly. I noticed you had installed the red throttle spacers. I bought my 2019 Speed Twin used, and the previous owner had already installed them. However, when I did the heated grip install, I noticed both spacers were broken. Any idea what would cause them to break? (Small end that interfaces with the throttle tube had snapped off both of them). Thx!

      That's odd I have not heard of any breaking.

    Do you think I could wire an optima usb connection to the wires on the hand grip heaters? How would I do it? Which wire on the 3 wire socket would I connect to?

      What are you trying to do? Maybe there’s a better solution. If you’re just trying to install a USB charging plug, it’s best to run right off the battery with a fuse.

    Great video.
    Do you have a link where I could buy one of the special bits please?

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel Год назад +1

      Thanks for the kind words. We’ve found a shortcut that doesn’t require use of the special bit on the 2019-20 models. If you loosen the wiring you can slide the grip to the end of the handlebar by only unscrewing the 2 Philips screws under the throttle assembly. You should then be able to remove the old throttle grip. Good luck and safe riding!

    Woah! This is not for the faint hearted! You got to do all that for just heated grips!! 🙀 man how much does the dealer ship charge? P&L?
    PS: Thanks for the detailed video. It made me realise it maybe best to buy a used bike with heated grips already installed.

      Over here they charge $135 per hour. Parts are the same price. Glad we could help with your decision-making!

      @@3ftDeepChannel wow yea what do you expect from a European dealership! As with anything, prices would be much higher here not cheaper even cause of exchange rates! its usually similar price in £££ plus 15-20-%!!!
