Does music need to be memorable in order to be worthy? How many sunsets have you seen that took your breath away? Do you remember them all or how you felt when you saw them?
Thank you so much fyrexianoff for an upload - this is such an imagination capture! You're in its world immediately. Pages could be turned quicker, tho...:)
I agree. And this kind of affect that impressionistic music like Debussy has on you...You'll remember what it represents, symbolizes, or makes an impressions of, and you'll also remember what feelings and emotions you got from listening to it. But you might not remember much of the actual musical material.
The first nine minutes of this concerto are,for me,the best of Palmgren and among the most attractive post-romantic concertos.A mix of Grieg/Busoni/Hollywood plus a fresh Scandinavian"snap"make for a pianoconcertophile's paradise!Thereafter begin the disappointments, sagging inspiration, repetitive writing... Still, lovely to see it here with score to follow;wish i'd had it when i first heard it on the radio, and, inebriated with the piece, had to play it by ear! Who plays,Tateno,Hakkinen,Mikkinen..?

Beautiful, glorious piece. Can't understand why it's obscure. It's amazing. Thank you for posting it.

I don't know what you guys are listening to. I think this concerto is TERRIBLE...
a TERRIBLY underrated gem. 😊
This is great! Deserves a lot more views...
Palmgren & Vladigerov - glorious music for your new channel; most welcome back !
Turns out that none of the composers they teach you in school are as worthwhile as the gems uploaded by Score Video youtubers.
Palmgren dedicated this concerto to the great pianist Ignaz Friedman, who also arranged the 2-piano reduction.
It's really nice to hear these seldom-played works. Thanks for posting them! Where can one buy this recording?
Shame the sheets and audio are out of sync.
Beautiful piece :)
Thanks for posting this, looks like hard work.
Inebriating..i can feel the river all the way long..

The Meno Mosso section from 4:08 is very nice
This is an interesting piece. It's kind of refreshing but I find hard to see it memorable.

I made Palmgren Complete Piano Works for GrandPiano.. stay tuned! @MrMakemies
Or...none of the above. I think it's Juhani Lagerspetz from the complete Palmgren piano concerti on Finlandia.
