This is it! My new sampler+sequencer has been decided✌️ Thanks Ricky and Novation for exactly the type of inspiring workflow that I love to see when deciding on an instrument. Competitors take note, along with tutorials make content like this! Of course raw specs and pros/cons are essential but this use case is almost exactly what I was looking for in a sampler+sequencer to work in tandem with my MPC one. Keep this series going!
What a coincidence...the same day I watched this was the same day I went to pick up my rhythm...and in the outlet section of the store there was an audio technica atr1100x for 20€.....it was ment to be 😁
This seems awesome but so little luck with this myself. How do you sample without unwanted noise. When i use the treshold button it picks up the sound of my finger hitting record, and theres massive ground floor noise, even when i use a dynamic mic fed back on a line in via audio interface. If you use an SM58 straight in its horrible - that's the wrong kind of mic? Is there a way to cut out the noise on either end of a sample? So many questions.
It's not clear what could be causing that. Here we used an inexpensive, 'wireless karaoke microphone' by Bonaok. You should find that a similar mic or field recorder with a headphone output works well too. Have you tried alternative cables? Generally speaking, this delivers great results. If you discuss this with our Support Team they can troubleshoot this with you and help you find a solution - bit.ly/CallNovationSupport
This is just brilliant fun, Tom Waits would be proud (if you somewhat change the beat) 😀 Could I feed a mic through something like a fethead straight into the Circuit?
Man I really wish the Rhythm hed stereo sampling cord mode etc. chromatics kind of limiting but the workflow and portability’s dope I just wish they put a little more into it even for a little more money
This is the first thing a tried when I got mine - connected my nice rode NT-something battery powered mic to the line-in on the circuit. Turns out the amp in the circuit is a bit weak so you get a lot of digital artifacts when the sample automatically gets normalized - sounded terrible. I had to run it through a USB-audio interface to amp up the signal before running it back into the line-in if the circuit. (Not an audio engineer, just my layman's theory) The better (but less flashy) tool for this sort of job would be a Zoom handheld recorder.
@@NovationTV understood. would be nice to have some MPE pad controls like the push, and perhaps some more filters. seems like a good device but i'm waiting for a newer version before buying. i feel like as soon as i'd buy one now, a new one will be released! :-)
Bought the tracks so I can plug in my Korg and use it as a hub for other midi hardware…. Was convinced to by thr Rhythm…. Found iPad samplers like flip Sampler, Samplr and the amazing granular synthetic sounds of Borderlands so RETURNED THE RHYTHM UNTOUCHED …… BIG MISTAKE… gonna look like an idiot when I return to buy this amazing sampler for a SECOND time lol… but will leave a hero …. I looked at all the hardware and software options and this is what will work best for me personally -EXCELLENT 👍 VIDEO…. exactly what I needed to see to make my purchase
That wasn't required here. Unlike a traditional microphone, this it's own internal preamp. Circuit Rhythm's audio inputs are designed to receive line-level signals. Generally speaking, microphones output microphone-level so a preamplifier would be needed to boost the signal to line-level if working with them.
The microphone used here is a 'wireless karaoke microphone' by Bonaok. You should find that a similar mic or field recorder with a headphone output works well.
What sort of microphone do I need to sample directly into the Rhythm (without the need for a mixer/preamp)? What's the keywords I need to type into a store's search box?

@@NovationTV hi If you are talking about the videos from novation with the first steps, they are just videos to see what you can do, but not how you can do it
I thought about doing this but recording the sounds with My Sony Recorder. You dont have to have the Circuit with you as you can load the sounds via USB or Jack.

I want a mini series of the adventures of Ricky and Stick
Absolutely! 'Ricky & Stick head to the beach' 👌
Ricky & Stick Take Manhattan.
I would watch this.
LOL HAHAHAHAHAHA Thats A genius idea
its always so charming to see ricky in the context of his work for novation. he's great!
Bravo, Ricky! The only man on RUclips who managed to highlight the strenghts of this machine and did it not in a bleep-blop way.
"Oh! I also have my handy stick!" Lol. Love Ricky's style.
the whole session is so enjoyable to watch and listen
I have two of those mikes and a circuit rhythm. I will remember to use this for creating sounds to chop up. Thanks

Man, sure knowledge is power! Thanks for it 🙏
You got it!
Please Novation, do not ever delete this video. I want Ricky's grandchildren to see this.
*grandchildren.."its grandpapi at the park with a stick."
😂😂😂
this is so cool, always happy to see Ricky make cool stuff
It's eerie how there's no one else around.

Did the mic end up working well with the Rhythm? Novation says a preamp is needed
Wow best review on this I've seen. Exactly what I'm looking for, gotta get this thing!
Sweet inspiring demo !!

Mr Tines getting his corporate on, love to see it.
4:00 Still waiting an on option for brighter pads so we can do more work outside, but this is a super fun creative take on sampling!
I do not think they can do that with a firmware update…
This is getting into Wu-Tang territory!
Great video. Love the creativity in the stuff you found
Thanks so much!
Industrial Ambient Hiphop...!
Did you record this back in the summer. 'Dry river bed." I hope it was in the summer.
Great demonstration anyhow. Thanks for the ideas.
Glad you enjoyed this! That's right, we filmed this around Summer time.

A built-in mic for the mark II version maybe?
wonder if a new version of this device will be released soon.

That's an awesome video. Could you please clarify if the mic had any preamp. Novation recommends a preamp but you appear to show that it's not needed.

@@NovationTV Can anybody out there recommend the cheapest possible battery-powered microphone preamp/mixer to get the job done?
Whatever you pay Ricky double it.
