    This might be boring stuff to a lot of NHLers but this is fascinating stuff for the rest of us. No drama, no politics, no nothing. Just giving us a peek at what the NHL experience is like. Such a refreshing change to what we see online. Thanks and subscribed!

      I agree, except some of it sounds rather political, at least sitting at the front of the plane & waiting for the vets to get off first. I’m not saying right or wrong, but there’s certainly a political element…. Poor Hosang being late for training camp, seemed to change the trajectory of his entire career.

    Some very cool, old school things. With the logo being on the floor in the locker room makes no sense. I had the great fortune to get to know a retired NHL player in my hometown and asked him that question a few years ago. He said, absolutely no stepping on the logo. I said, ok,, but you can skate all over that thing at centre ice?? The look on his face was priceless!!

    These are some lovely nuggets, love these videos! I know one thing through some of the Finnish boys in the NHL - to get into the poker table on the bus or the plane, somebody else has to forfeit their place. Basically, if you are part of the poker-playing group, you are in it, you can't come and go as you please or you lose your spot. However this could be different in different teams.

As you climb the ladder in hockey, juniors, OHL, AHL up to the NHL. Do the players pay for their skates and sticks? Does the team pay for everything? Do they get a huge discount? Curious.

And how about also like what gets talked about in locker rooms like Married guys with girlfriends… people gambling …habits whatever I heard there was a long time ago a deal with media that anything discussed in locker rooms that’s not on the record is not supposed to be quoted like Ia guy talking about going to see the girlfriend that night or whatever unless it was an on the record “they couldn’t talk about it

    So, when McDavid or Bedard show up and skate circles around everyone, they will be relegated to sitting at the front of the plane and treated like a cabin boy? That would be a real doozie, right there. Your 4th line plug is pushing the future superstar around. What a boost to a man's ego.

    • @Bubzp11
      @Bubzp11  6 месяцев назад +2

      yep.. way she goes. they don't care who's coming in the league, if u haven't earned it yet you have to pay your dues. 4th line guy could be a huge asset to the team morale as a "glue" guy... keeps young guys egos in check

    • @Vdoom777
      @Vdoom777 6 месяцев назад

      @Bubzp11 Yeah, but losing a "glue" guy usually amounts to your GM having to spend a 5th or 6th round pick to get some more glue from another team. To get a McDavid, MacKinnon, Bedard, type only comes around during a red moon 🌙 when Saturn is in Sagittarius and Venus is in Aquarius. Well... obviously, you know more than me, but that is my take. I would find it preposterous to see one of those guys being maligned by a guy who spent 6 years in and out of the minors before getting a spot to play 8 minutes a night while staring down the barrel of the waiver wire.

      @Bubzp11 I understand, and I would usually agree that the youngsters need to pay their dues and learn from elders but if it's McDavid and he is the franchise then he automatically goes to the front of the table as far as I'm concerned. He is given the best seat in the house immediately. Almost all real Canadian boys are respectful and humble, so they would show respect back anyway. You can see how humble Bedard is and all those guys. They don't need a brow beating or any other kind of humbling. But thank you for all of this. It is humbling to me to chat with a real NHL player, and they provide me their thoughts on my ideas.

    Rule 3: Hierarchy/Seniority, it's the old school way of essentially holding the door open for a person of importance, and allowing that person to move first.

    I managed my colleges hockey team and I went everywhere with them, I even roomed with them on trips, we had so much fun. Our biggest unwritten rule was Goalies sit wherever they want and with who ever they want… the other was I sat wherever and with who ever I wanted as well- this went with room assignments too. I would make the room assignments rarely did they have to be changed. I quickly learned who to room with who and more importantly who not to put together. The older guys would sometimes pull rank over the younger guys but very rarely and was always over something stupid just to annoy them.
