Tomoe River is my all time fav, it's thin but works so well with FP but they are expensive. I buy looseleaf tomoe river papers and make make my own notebooks instead
It’s my fave too! I originally wanted to make my own notebooks and started out with a pad of TRP too. But it was the old stuff and now I’m on a hunt for the old stuff 😅
For anyone who is more familiar with traditional American paper measurements, 68 GSM is equal to 18 pound bond. By the way, I recently used your affiliate code on an order at Atlas Statoners and got a nice discount. Thanks! 🙂💰
I appreciate your review! In Canada, we have Chapters instead of B&N, however the limited paper that they carry is all for ballpoint/gel pens. A new (to me) brand that I discovered a few years ago and absolutely ADORE are Dingbats Notebooks. They are absolutely incredible and are made to be fountain pen friendly. I found them at a local independent bookstore but they can also be ordered directly from the company.
Me (a german) using fountain pens since elementery school watch this an requests 'there's fountain pen frindly paper?' We used the crappiest paper in school!😂 And as a I grew up with Lamy like most in germany I havn't had any problem with any paper, not even in Leuchturm books. And honestly the ink is gosting through your paper so in my opinion it is not realy made for fountain pens... I used so many fountain pens in my life and somehow I always get back to Lamy.
When I was a kid in elemantar, school, between 1970 and 1974, we used either Pelikan or Geha Füller (fountain pens). Later, when we went to the gymnasium, we either used a Parker, Montblanc or a Lamy. All of the mentioned fountain pens were basic models manufactured for the use of school children, but they were status symbols nonetheless. 😁 Today I use a Pelikan or a TWSBI and I use a Leucbtturm 1917 for journaling, ghosting or not, I love the paper.
it often has to do with ink not only paper; the simpler the ink it it often works better on cheaper paper; when using fancier inks which are usually not made for daily writing it often bleeds ghosts etc
Nice! I'll check them out. the B and N in my area stocks Leuchtrum as well. Not my first choice of paper, but their 52gsm loose leaf are one of my favorites for writing down random ideas, intrusive thoughts, and general one-off writing. They have a silky feel that's nice to the touch but can make fountain pens feel a bit "draggy".
I used a Leuchtrum before in my pre-fountain pen obsession days. I only had one fountain pen and I remember it bleeding and feathering 🥲 but those are good quality notebooks for regular journaling and bujo!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Love the notebook. Here is a quick tip when using your fountain pens or any pens that doesn't dry fast: use a blotter to absorb the extra ink. That way you don't have to wait for it to dry and it'll prevent any of the ink from running. As a crafter I love to use the paper ones and then when they're filled up I use then in my journals or scrapbooks for decorating my pages.
Thank you!! I usually use a sheet of tissue paper or cardstock lol. I just wanted to see how much this paper could handle, and also got lazy about blotting hahah. My own fault! That's a neat idea about re-using them as decoration!
@StationeryDumpling I have learned so much lately about paper! I used to think paper was just paper 😂 but wow I was surprised comparing different ones with different pens! Even paints!
Tomoe river paper is a pricey luxury 😂 but I think there are other brands that will probably be more affordable. For example, Hobonichi grid notebook is cheaper.
Thanks!
Thank *you*!! ❤️
Fun video. First time I've seen reviews testing paper using dried out pens.
I'm heading to B&N tomorrow to pick up one of those journals.

J Herbin Emeraude de Chivor is a green ink. Love the review!

Oooh you’re not the first person I’ve heard recommend Dingbats!! I’ll have to add them to the wishlist 😁
OMG I need to go to Barnes and Noble😍😍😍
Yesss do it!! Lots of good journals now. And pick up a few books too 😁

that's so interesting! Maybe it was really good ink :D But Lamy's do write really well on crappy paper. I still love my safaris!
I would've loved to have used fountain pens as a kid!!

goodinkpressions still uses original Tomoe 68 cream, machine 7 paper, on their website. With a different binding. The rest is machine 9.
Oooh good to know, thank you!!

Glad you like it!
Hello! New subscriber here! Thanks for the review! Paper makes such a HUGE difference! A good paper is so amazing to work on!
Thanks for subbing! I couldn’t agree more! I didn’t know the importance of paper until I started using fountain pens!
@StationeryDumpling I have learned so much lately about paper! I used to think paper was just paper 😂 but wow I was surprised comparing different ones with different pens! Even paints!
This is the exact notebook I use every day. Great.
That’s amazing!!
One of my local B&N stores had several of goodinkspressions books they had the orange, pink, teal, and black notebooks.
Oh wow that’s amazing!! My store only had the orange!
Ive never seen somone just dump ink from a pen to do a swatch. That too an ink like the emerald.
Field notes or field books paper I'm super curious of pen testing.
I’ve never tested them, but I’ve heard they’re not fountain pen friendly.
I was wondering how that would work with fountain pens. I was never very fond of the 68gsm, even the OG.
I’m starting to think I like it better than Sanzen 52gsm
@@StationeryDumpling interesting!
I don't know if these are worth full price. Nearly $30!

never use sharpie it is alcohol based and will bleed ; sharpies are designed for writing maybe on cardboard or boxes they are $%^%%^ pens
Barnes and Noble not Nobles!!!!!!
I know 🥲 I didn’t realize until I became an adult and now it’s a bad habit that I keep saying it wrong
