This is such a brilliant song. Reminds me of Joni Mitchell and the late 60's recording style is amazing... Music was at its best when recorded in this raw and real way. So glad there are artists like Laura still creating organic sounding music. I love the album!
I agree, plus I notice some of her vocal phrasing reminds me of Gerry Rafferty at times in this song.
The chords in this song sound like an invention and the vocals are ancient. This song crushes me!

Very genuine sound I like she sounds like joni but is her own voice and talent and its refreshing to have a new joni on the road just as talented .

If this is a reference to Leonard Cohen’s Alexandra Leaving then I know exactly where she is. She is also mentioned in a Dylan song called Angelina with the words “She was stolen from her mother when she was three days old”
Again if that is the reference you need to appreciate that Leonard is essentially a liar and as Dylan said “He has a mind that multiplies the smallest matter and a tongue that cannot speak but only flatter”

Does anyone want to share the interpretation of the song?
I'm not fluent in English, and maybe there are some things I had lost in translation. But I interpret that Alexandra is a smart and introspective girl who finds out something. Something like her partner cheated on her, maybe. She doesn't recognize herself anymore. Now she is very emotional and she is no longer the Alexandra which she was comfortable being. I don't know, I'd like to know what do you interpret.
@@emmanuelgrana5315 The first interpretation that came to my mind was that this could be a song about a woman who had a relationship with a man who usually doesn't open himself for love, as if she was asking herself if they made it through or if the same pattern happened again. But I really liked your interpretation! It makes total sense, including the last part, when she asks what afterall did Alexandra, who had no fear over the situtation, really know... and in middle of the lyrics, where did this fearless woman go
