Thanks Lisa! I've had 3 keratin treatments. For me I get a good 6 months out of 1 treatment. The first time I did it it was the type that you couldn't wash your hair for 2-3 days or wear bobby pins or ponytail holders because they would kind of fracture the keratin and effect the longevity. The other 2 I could wash my hair after 24hours. My hair is just below my shoulders and the process took me 3 1/2 hours. I get them because my hair is porous and frizzy at the roots. The keratin fills in the pores, which makes the hair shaft smooth and locks out the water, so faster dry time. In MI it cost me $300.00 but there are some different types like Gracie mentioned and the price can be higher. I do love them. Suggestion: last time I did this I did just the upper half of my head which fixed my root fly aways and left a little more body. This cost half the price. Depending on your needs and stylist recommendation it could be an economical option. I didn't need my next treatment any sooner. I will say, if you're growing your hair out and have layers that are difficult this could make that process much easier. It was the only way I could grow my layers and bangs out. 😀
Expensive day. I would remind women to not cheap out with this treatment. You don’t want to ruin your hair. Heck don’t cheap out on the eyelash extensions either. You don’t want eye issues.
Loved watching this. I've had mine done a couple times before but I never knew salt changed it. I live on the beach. Too hard to get in the ocean and not get some water on my hair. Your hair is always beautiful. Love your hair videos. Thanks for sharing!
Your hair looking amazing , I realize this video is an old one , I’ve had many keratin treatments done in salons and realize I can do this myself. And I’ve been doing my own keratin treatments for over three years now, and yes it’s time consuming but super easy and I love the results that I get it does not cost me 300 to $400. And I too use the formaldehyde free keratin treatments. ❤️
This makes me want one so bad! This looks great and thanks for the tips about the different types at the beginning so I can be sure to get the safest one!
This was such a helpful video! I have been thinking of getting one of these for awhile, but have had so many questions. I feel like you have answered many of them! 😘
Nice video - any side effects : I mean hair loss? Or more dryness or itchy scalp when the treatment is finished ? What are the ingredients of the keratin treatment ? Harsh chemicals ?
Thanks for addressing this. I want to keep my curls just remove the frizz cause it gets very dry bushy frizzy. I didn’t know at first Keratin can do it cause what I have searched so far they iron the hair which removes the curls. So thanks so much for this info.
Thank you!!! I had no idea one could keep the curls! I have curly hair and I like to have the option of wearing curly or straight hair depending on my mood. I will look for a good salon who does it now. BTW, you looked great when she parted your hair in the middle! You should wear it sometimes like that! ;) Great video Lisa! :)
I just had a professional keratin treatment. The keratin was applied and I sat under a dryer with a plastic cap for 30 mins. Then blow dried it. Then flat ironed. It came out completely flat.
Hi Gracie! You are gorgeous, and your hair is stunning! My question is, when she “rinsed” your hair at the end (prior to the mask), did she just rinse it with water? Or did she shampoo it and then apply mask?
I had my 1st keratin treatment last week. I did not wash my hair for 6 days. The shampoo washed it right out. I was never told what the best products would be to use afterwards! Waiting for a call back, quite maddening.
Hey ! You look amazing ! My question is that after your treatment does your hair also looks sleeker/smoother and frizfree with only air drying ? without setting them up through a blowdry
This was 5 years ago. Do you still get Keratin treatments? If so, how frequently? I just got one in December and trying to decide how frequently i should get this.
Hi Lisa! I used to have a keratin treatment done but then I was told that that the keratin eventually dries your hair so I stopped using that! My hair is now very dry and don't know if it was that or something is changing in my body! But what I noticed is that it didn't use to take so long. Maybe in Argentina we use a different one. Anyway, you look gorgeous as usual! 😄😄😄
Thank you so much Fernanda! Hmmm, I have never had that experience, but maybe they do use different products! Do you know which type they use in Argentina?
Lisa J honestly Lisa, I don't know but I'll ask my hairdresser next time I see her. Could you please remind me the type of keratin your hairdresser used? Thanks a lot
what brand of keratin did she use that didn't have formaldehyde? also what is your hair type? do you have it processed with highlights or is your hair blonde like that? I wanna know if I can do it with my balayage/color.
Perfect timing Lisa. My stylist wants to do a Keratin treatment on my hair. I was leery bc I had one a few yrs ago and I didn’t really notice a big change in my hair texture but she explained that there’s different treatments. Thank you for your helpful input; your hair looks amazing!! :)
Hi! you mentioned in the beginning of the video that you paused your keratin treatment during pregnancy. Wondering if its not recommended during pregnancy/ breastfeeding? FYI My hair dresser offers a formaldehyde-free option but im still paranoid.
I got one of these and my hair is super flat and severe looking now. My stylist recommended it. Not sure if I will do it again as my hair is straight to begin with
Thank you so much! I do color my hair, I get balyage dark blonde highlights, my stylist and I filmed a video a while back on my channel all about my color and highlights, if you search for Lisa J Hair you'll come across it. :)
Hi Lisa! I’m a newer subscriber but just stumbled on this video. My hair is growing back from chemo and it’s very unruly (curly-frizzy). I thought these treatments had some risks so I’m surfing the Internet lol. Do you still get these treatments? Thanks! Love your brushes!!!
Do you know what brand of Keratin treatment your hairdresser uses? I'm researching brands but I'm having a hard time finding one. Thanks in advance and for all your great videos!
I’ve heard of possible things that can happen. Hair loss, dryness or stiffness a few days after the treatment, split ends, dandruff, greasiness, rashes from exposer to the chemicals, not rinsing our gradual enough as the hair grows so you have curly over straight hair. Have you experienced any of these? Are they real concerns? I have a keratin treatment scheduled later this month, and I’m getting nervous because in the past my hair hasn’t reacted well to permanent straightening (or perms). Also, I read that Jennifer Aniston had to cut her hair short after getting a keratin treatment that damaged her hair.
Your hair is beautiful, are you still getting the keratin complex done and what hair products (shampoo, conditioner, any leave in, etc.) are you using to make your hair look so great!
Hi, great video, thanks so much! Just to clarify this treatment has no formaldehyde ? Even when combined with heat? I am so allergic that my scalp would blister with formaldehyde . So informative
Wow it looks really beautiful and your a gorgeous lady too Does it repair the damaged hair ?and I really have a very small amount of hair due to postpartum hair loss so if I do this will it add more volume to my hair or will it be more flatter ?please help me
So glad you did this video I’m considering getting it done now that’s it summer the humidity here on Long Island is awful and my hair is naturally curly but I wear it pin straight every day and it’s such a struggle in the summer
I need to get this done ! Next appt I have to get my tape extensions taped back up , I’m definitely going to get the treatment done on my natural hair . My natural hair is so thick, coarse and curly and I think it would do me wonders! Can’t believe I haven’t had it done before ! Your hair looks amazing 😘😘
I love ur videos ❤ what is this keratin treatment called please? And do you think it’s better than Brazilian blowout? My hair roots is great but from the middle to the end of my hair is super dry. When i blow dry it, and do a hair bun and leave it for a little while, it has beautiful volume and amazing natural curls. But am tired of this process. Which one would you recommend In your opinion? Thank love ❤
OK, yes! but it's not because of treatment or oils. your hair grows faster by increasing circulation to scalp. you don't need to have products to massage your hair. you can buy a scalp message or just use your fingersn
Your hair looks beautiful. I appreciate the video because onetime when you asked for suggestions for future videos I asked about this ! Can you speak to how it affects color treated hair? My color is not complicated (L’Oreal Dark Blonde #7 to cover gray) but I have to retouch my roots every 3 weeks.
I want to get the same one you had done here in San Antonio, is there a specific way to ask a hairdresser what I want done? I know it’s a Keratin Complex Brand but I know there are lots of different kinds and I want them one you had done. Like one of the other viewers I had one done about 2 years ago when we first moved here and it dried my hair out and I had lots of breakage and it took the hair dresser about 2 hrs to do mine. I know now by watching this video it’s 4 hrs. Thank you Sweetie, your hair looks fabulous.😘
Thanks for this! I have gotten Keratin treatments before, but a different process. This is awesome! Also, what brand does she use? I am going to speak with my stylist...
Yes they were done like Lisa's only the Keratin was not left on as long as it was for her before being "ironed" in. Hope that helps. Leaves my hair so incredibly sleek and feeling awesome,
Hi Christy! I have a video on it I uploaded a couple of weeks ago. It explains it all, but its going pretty well! I am coming off a weekend where I derailed a bit but I am finding its easy for me to stick to because I am not deprived or restricting too much.
It looks amazing! Only “issue” I have is that I live on an island and I am at the beach almost every weekend so I’m not sure if the treatment will work for me. can you find out what flat iron Gracie uses?
Hi Molly! I am currently using up my Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo and and I condition with the Oribe Signature Mask (only 2 a week), I will use the Living Proof Conditioner the other time I wash. I typically wash 3x per week
Hi Lisa, I know you stated in a previous video that your hair color is a medium blonde Balayage; however, it looks like you have several shades of blonde, could you please elaborate on the medium blonde shades that is used on your hair. My hair use to be your color when I was a teenager and now it is very dark. Thanks for your time and effort. ❤️
Hi Jamie! Check out the video linked in bio all about my color and cut. Gracie has told me that the color she uses on me would vary on someone else depending on where they are starting from... for example if someone had darker hair than me she would use a different shade to achieve the same shade it looks on me
Thank you for sharing your experience! I SO want to get this done! Did I somehow miss the video you were editing at the salon on your nutrition/fitness?
Hi your hair and face look beautiful and your video was very helpful but you talked about the different types of keratin treatments and that we should try and purchase the one with no formildahyde but you didn’t show us the one that you buy that would have been super helpful. Would you mind sharing your products so that we know what’s safe. Marja
I too have the keratin treatment done every 4-5 months. My hairdresser uses the one that stays on my hair for 24 hours ....than I can wash it and style as usual. The only downside is that I can’t clip it or put it behind my ears or in a ponytail as it will crimp I too only use specific hair care products which definitely makes a difference and makes it last longer. It makes my hair so much easier to blow dry. I have curly hair which I’m not a fan of. 🤦🏻♀️. I’ll have to ask my hairdresser if he is familiar with this product. Thanks for sharing.
I'm due for my 2nd one in july! I love it. The only thing I wanted to ask is, I can only go 2 days between washes even though I use the Living Proof dry shampoo.. Any suggestions? 😎
Lisa J , yes, that's what happens. I go between 2 types of shampoo and conditioner. Lange, witch is paraben and sulfate free. The other is a coconut based shampoo and conditioner that is also paraben and sulfate free. I only use the conditioner on the lower part of my hair because if I use it on the roots it gets really oily. I have thick hair like you but mine is very wavy naturally so I have to use something on it before I blow dry and straighten. I do notice with the keratin treatment I don't have to use product to tame my frizzies.
That helps understand the process. Thank you! A question, would this work on frizzy, curly baby hairs? I have a section like that on one side of my head with my otherwise straight, fine hair and it is impossible to tame.
It basically builds on each... so the second time you do it (if you do it before the first one completely fades away) , your results will be a little smoother than the first time when you started with no treatment in the hair
Hi Lisa, I also had a keratin treatment. It completely removed my frizz. The biggest problem is the brassy tones I can’t get rid of. I have tried a toner , bluing shampoo nothing can Tone this brass. roseingeorgia
Hi there!! First, your hair looks beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your salon appt with us. 😊I have a few questions for you. Do you use highlights and lowlights in your hair? If yes, how does the keratin process affect your color? Can you get your hair colored along with the keratin process or should these appt be separate? Lastly, I live in the Houston area. Katy actually. Does Gracie know of a good salon in my area? I like my current salon and stylist. Just thought I'd ask. Thank you, again, for sharing your hair appt with us. Love all your videos!! 😊👍
As a hair stylist I refuse to do keratin treatments. One word: formaldehyde. Exposure might be minimal for the client but as the hairstylist we are exposed to so much more. To me it's just not worth it
Also if you're told a keratin treatment is "formaldehyde free" all that means is that they contain another chemical that later turns into formaldehyde.
Naomi Williams My stylist won’t do them either. Not sure how it plays with color treated hair. I am almost 100% gray and do my own color (root touch up every 3 weeks).
I know several stylist that will not do these and yes it damages the hair eventually. I will stick to my coconut oil, and avacado/Apple cider vinegar masks. 😉
I love the effects of the keratin treatment! I live in RR. Does Gracie do your color and cut as well? I’m in the market for a new salon because I’m tired of driving to William Cannon for my appointments. Thanks for another great video!
Would have been good to see what your hair looked like before you started the treatments.
What’s a good price to go for
Love keratin. It really does improve the health of my hair. I have used Nexxus Keraphix for 30 years, twice a week.
Loved watching this. I've had mine done a couple times before but I never knew salt changed it. I live on the beach. Too hard to get in the ocean and not get some water on my hair. Your hair is always beautiful. Love your hair videos. Thanks for sharing!
I am so glad it was helpful! I totally understand, I love the beach as well! Thank you so much!

Your hair looked great beforethe treatment
..And thats how Rachel got her hair! Had these done the past 5 years and am HOOKED.
This makes me want one so bad! This looks great and thanks for the tips about the different types at the beginning so I can be sure to get the safest one!
Thanks so much Erin and I am so glad it was helpful!
I just got a keratin treatment and i absolutely love it
This was such a helpful video! I have been thinking of getting one of these for awhile, but have had so many questions. I feel like you have answered many of them! 😘
So glad to hear that! Thank you so much Sarah! :)

I think it needs to be sulfate free. Ask them to redo the treatment since they were supposed to tell you.
Hey what is the brand of keratin you used? Hair is looking lovely
Hey ! You look amazing ! My question is that after your treatment does your hair also looks sleeker/smoother and frizfree with only air drying ? without setting them up through a blowdry
Hi just curious to know !!about ironing do u need special kind of iron or any flat iron will work for straightening ?
Awesome video. What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
Thank you Maria! I use Oribe Beautiful Color Shampoo and the Colleen Rothschild Hair Mask
Hey your lipstick looks great! May I ask what color pink that is ?
This was 5 years ago. Do you still get Keratin treatments? If so, how frequently? I just got one in December and trying to decide how frequently i should get this.

May I ask what is the brand of this keratin ? I have curly hair and I want to eliminate frizz and.keep curls
Love your results! How long before or after the keratin treatment did you color your hair?!
Is there an answer to this ? Anywhere?
Hi! you mentioned in the beginning of the video that you paused your keratin treatment during pregnancy. Wondering if its not recommended during pregnancy/ breastfeeding? FYI My hair dresser offers a formaldehyde-free option but im still paranoid.

Thank you so much! I do color my hair, I get balyage dark blonde highlights, my stylist and I filmed a video a while back on my channel all about my color and highlights, if you search for Lisa J Hair you'll come across it. :)
What about chlorine? Also how does working out 3-5 days a week?
Does it still stay straight ?
Hi Lisa, what brand of keratin is this? Thanks, Anne
Does the treatment help for dry hair as well?
You’re! Hair! Looks! Fabulous! Thanks for taking us with you!
Thank you so much Robyn!
Hi Lisa, what brand is the best for bleached hair? My stylist doesn’t Keratin complex anymore
I was wondering if it's ok to get this done if your hair is not thick but I want to get rid of frizz
Hi Kimberly! She uses Keratin Complex I believe
Looks great. Love this kind of content! Do you need to use special shampoo and conditioner?
Wow it looks really beautiful and your a gorgeous lady too
Does it repair the damaged hair ?and I really have a very small amount of hair due to postpartum hair loss so if I do this will it add more volume to my hair or will it be more flatter ?please help me
I’m thinking of getting keratin done. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Let me know if you do :)
So glad you did this video I’m considering getting it done now that’s it summer the humidity here on Long Island is awful and my hair is naturally curly but I wear it pin straight every day and it’s such a struggle in the summer
It is so tough in the summer! Would love to know if you try it! Thank you so much Paula! :)
I go 3/3 for my first keratine treatement and i am so curious! Hope i gonna like it and my hair will be less frizzy and more straight!
What lipstick are you wearing in this video? Pretty!
Would you mind sharing the shampoo and conditioner that you use?
Can keratin straigthen hair for months like rebonding
I need to get this done ! Next appt I have to get my tape extensions taped back up , I’m definitely going to get the treatment done on my natural hair . My natural hair is so thick, coarse and curly and I think it would do me wonders! Can’t believe I haven’t had it done before ! Your hair looks amazing 😘😘
Thank you Esra!
Which one would you recommend
In your opinion? Thank love ❤
Is it true that after u apply keratin, also helps it growin faster?
OK, yes! but it's not because of treatment or oils. your hair grows faster by increasing circulation to scalp. you don't need to have products to massage your hair.
you can buy a scalp message or just use your fingersn
Your hair looks beautiful. I appreciate the video because onetime when you asked for suggestions for future videos I asked about this ! Can you speak to how it affects color treated hair? My color is not complicated (L’Oreal Dark Blonde #7 to cover gray) but I have to retouch my roots every 3 weeks.
Hi Lisa! Yes, you can get color done and it doesn't effect it. I have gotten both done on the same day!
Lisa, this was so helpful. Do you know if you also need to avoid pools? I know she said the ocean would not be good for the treatment.
Thanks for this! I have gotten Keratin treatments before, but a different process. This is awesome! Also, what brand does she use? I am going to speak with my stylist...
The stylist said Keratin Complex. That is the same one I get.
Judy Howell Sorry, I missed that. Is yours processed the same as Lisa’s? I have had many Keratin treatments, but they were not done in those steps.
Yes they were done like Lisa's only the Keratin was not left on as long as it was for her before being "ironed" in. Hope that helps. Leaves my hair so incredibly sleek and feeling awesome,
I get keritan treatments every 8 weeks and love them.
So glad to hear! Thanks Tracey! :)
Tell about the nutrition program you started.
Hi Christy! I have a video on it I uploaded a couple of weeks ago. It explains it all, but its going pretty well! I am coming off a weekend where I derailed a bit but I am finding its easy for me to stick to because I am not deprived or restricting too much.
Lisa J thank you. I'll have to look for it.
can you have highlights ?
It looks amazing! Only “issue” I have is that I live on an island and I am at the beach almost every weekend so I’m not sure if the treatment will work for me. can you find out what flat iron Gracie uses?
Oh yes! That can make it fade quicker.. and that sounds nice! The beach every weekend! I will ask her about the flat iron. :
Great info! I never realized salt needed to be avoided. I had been considering it but my parents have a salt water pool!
Yes, I would definitely avoid salt if you can! Thank you Karen!
Your hair looked just as good before and actually fuller and more voluminous. What am I missing? Are you just doing this to reduce dry time?
Thanks! I do it to reduce dry time and frizz. :)
My question has to do with soft water. I believe my husband adds salt to our water softener. I’m guessing that would also be bad?
Another question...which hair products (shampoo, conditioner, etc) are you using these days?
Hi Molly! I am currently using up my Living Proof No Frizz Shampoo and and I condition with the Oribe Signature Mask (only 2 a week), I will use the Living Proof Conditioner the other time I wash. I typically wash 3x per week
Lisa J Thanks, Lisa!
You hair look so beautiful ! I love it
Thank you Noemi! :)
Lisa J
Very welcome
What products do you use to preserve the keratin treatment
My hair looks orange what dye can I use please
I think I may drive up from Corpus. What was the cost? I have paid about $250-$300 in the past for the Brazilian
Hi Laura! Gracie charges $350-$400
Lisa J Dear God! I would prefer to put that money towards vacation or my IRA
I would love to know what clarifying shampoo and shampoo and conditioner Gracie recommends. Thanks so much, Caterina
Hi! I know she uses an Oribe one
Hi Lisa, I know you stated in a previous video that your hair color is a medium blonde Balayage; however, it looks like you have several shades of blonde, could you please elaborate on the medium blonde shades that is used on your hair. Thank you for sharing your experience! I SO want to get this done! Did I somehow miss the video you were editing at the salon on your nutrition/fitness?
Hi! Yes, it went up a couple of weeks ago. Its the one titled I got a DNA test....
Thank you, Lisa!
Hi your hair and face look beautiful and your video was very helpful but you talked about the different types of keratin treatments and that we should try and purchase the one with no formildahyde but you didn’t show us the one that you buy that would have been super helpful.
Would you mind sharing your products so that we know what’s safe.

I too have the keratin treatment done every 4-5 months. My hairdresser uses the one that stays on my hair for 24 hours ....than I can wash it and style as usual. The only downside is that I can’t clip it or put it behind my ears or in a ponytail as it will crimp

Thank you so much Debbie and thanks for sharing your tips! I’ve heard of that kind of treatment before! :)
I'm due for my 2nd one in july! I love it. The only thing I wanted to ask is, I can only go 2 days between washes even though I use the Living Proof dry shampoo.. Any suggestions? 😎
Hi Michelle! So you find you feel more oilier after getting one? Maybe switch up your shampoo and conditioner? What do you currently use?
Lisa J , yes, that's what happens. I go between 2 types of shampoo and conditioner. Lange, witch is paraben and sulfate free. The other is a coconut based shampoo and conditioner that is also paraben and sulfate free. I only use the conditioner on the lower part of my hair because if I use it on the roots it gets really oily. I have thick hair like you but mine is very wavy naturally so I have to use something on it before I blow dry and straighten. I do notice with the keratin treatment I don't have to use product to tame my frizzies.
Are you able to get any wave or movement still with the kertain?
That helps understand the process. Thank you! A question, would this work on frizzy, curly baby hairs? I have a section like that on one side of my head with my otherwise straight, fine hair and it is impossible to tame.
Oh yes! It should!
I’m planning on getting my hair done tmr but i’m going to the beach the next day. so should i just not get it done or wing it ?
salt it’s your number one enemy, it’s abrasive and it’s gonna wash out the keratin
katherine guevara okay thanks youu!!
When you say it gets better and better the more you do it, what does that mean?
It basically builds on each... so the second time you do it (if you do it before the first one completely fades away) , your results will be a little smoother than the first time when you started with no treatment in the hair
Thank you Lisa for this video. I have been wanting to do this, but I was so unsure of it. You do the best videos.
Thank you so much Robin!
Amazing results! ❤ I recommend you to try Amazonliss keratin treatment
Its this clean of harmful chemicals? I want to do this on my 12 yr old daughter😊
It’s sucks. I tried it. Not worth it

Thank you Francine!
I really enjoy these type of videos! So thank you!!!
Can this be done on bleached hair?
So sweating takes out the treatment? I am a runner and I workout daily. So maybe this would not work for me?😒
You look especially beautiful today Lisa. Looking forward to this video!
Thank you so much Kit!
What was the brand that you used? Thank you
Keratin Complex
Thank you Judy!
Thank you!
you can color your hair same day BEFORE karetin treatment. I think you have to wait awhile to color it AFTER
As a hair stylist I refuse to do keratin treatments.
Naomi Williams Thanks for mentioning this. It was something I was wondering about and confirms that I will not be doing this!
Hey! I’m also a stylist for 15+ years, they actually make some organic keratin treatments now that work well :). No bad chemicals.
Your hair looks beautiful! I've never had a keratin treatment, maybe one day I'll try it
Thank you so much Joann! :)
Do you still get this treatment?
Can you color your hair with this treatment?
Also, your hair looks amazing!
I thought that keratin lightens the hair color
I love your hair!
Thank you Lisa!

I love the effects of the keratin treatment! I live in RR. Does Gracie do your color and cut as well? I’m in the market for a new salon because I’m tired of driving to William Cannon for my appointments. Thanks for another great video!
Hi! Yes, she does everything. She does my color, cut and keratin. :) She's wonderful! Tell her you found her through me if you see her.
I definitely will! Thanks.
Your hair looks beautiful! 💜
Thank you so much Mary!
