Exactly! Oh, Fort Zach, and the Keys in general, definitely doesn't always look picture perfect. There's often a lot of wind coming off of the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf, which affects the water quality. But occasionally like on this day, it was just perfect. We're happy it was helpful! ❤️
Hey Paul & Sarah, Another great video!!! Thanks for taking us along to Key West!!! So amazing that Fort Zachary Taylor is still standing!!! Yes, the wind can be so crazy in Key West!!! We got caught in a Wind Sand Storm on a Key West Beach & we were getting pelted so bad by the wind & sand that we had to leave in a rush!!! We even had sand between our teeth... LOL!!!
Thank you so much!! We're so happy you enjoyed it! 💓 It's so crazy how the weather can be that different day to day. Whoah! That sounds pretty crazy with the sandstorm. Thanks for watching!
It's so perfect on a good day! Add a little wind though and you're right, it gets pretty choppy. What kind of trees are those? The only thought that came to mind was pine since the leaves were needles. Maybe cypress?
Hello Sarah & Paul, we were about to say that Key West has the best beaches ever with no waves until you show the clip with the wind. OH my Gosh! 😅 The addition of the hamac is such a great idea! The snurkling looks fun too. Anne & Eric

Aww, thank you! Great to hear from you! Key West is one of our very favorite places to visit. We actually just came back from this summer's visit. It was just as beautiful as ever!
Thanks so very much for this informational video, my family and I are going in April 2023 and this really helped to plan out our trip to Key West. We will definitely add Fort Zachary in. ❤️ from Texas
We're so happy it helped you guys! We have to visit Fort Zachary every time we're in Key West. Hello to you in Texas! We've been once and had it on our list to come back and explore sometime in the future!
Awesome video! I’m a history buff, plus I love snorkeling. I vaguely remember swimming at Key West as a child. I’m definitely due for another trip down there.
Thanks so much! There's definitely a lot of history there with Fort Zachary and also the Naval base. I'm sure it was very strategic having those at the southernmost point of the US. Definitely great for snorkeling also!
Thanks so much Kenneth! We really did! Any time we get the chance to go back to Key West we love visiting there and we spend a lot of time at this beach. Thanks for watching!
Although small, a great beach to go to is Simonton Beach. It is fairly well sheltered to the prevailing winds so the visibility in the water is often good when the south side of the island is bad due to the wind. If you bike along North Roosevelt, you can see so many cool creatures just off the sidewalk in the water. I see little 2-3 foot long shark pups that will just circle in 1-2 feet of water, just saw my first sawfish there last month near the BBQ on the water boat restaurant, and you can see baby barracuda, crabs, southern stingrays, spotted eagle rays, juvenile nurse sharks, Cassiopeia jellyfish, horseshoe crabs, it is amazing. I've got videos of most of those things on my channel. For the past 4 years, I 'live' in Key West for the months of May and October and bike daily and scuba with Lost Reef Adventures whenever we have good visibility. I've cruised the waters of Fort Zac with my snorkel gear and my sea scooters.
Whoa! That must have been an amazing experience! We would love to swim with a big beautiful manta ray sometime. It'll happen one day! We haven't been out to Bahia Honda State Park yet but it's on our list. Thanks so much for watching! 😊
That's wonderful! We wish for you calm and clear waters (on windy days, it can be churned up). But no matter what, it's beautiful and we're sure you'll love it! We're pretty sure they do rent snorkel gear at the park, but you may want to call to confirm a few days before going to make sure they are still offering that. Oh, and we recorded underwater with our GoPro. Captures some great underwater shots. In case you're interested, we've listed our favorite adventure gear on our website: psadventures.net/gear/ Have a great adventure in the Florida Keys!!

Nice video - cute couple too. Wife and I were just there March 1st. We walked but biking next time! Loved the Fort and snorkeling there. I always worry about leaving valuables on the beach - glad you brought a friend along!
Hi there! So glad you got to experience this beautiful island too! Biking is highly recommended. If you can't bring your own bike next time, there's also a few bike rental shops in town. 😎

It's gotten very expensive to stay there but some ways to make it less expensive are to stay at some of the higher up keys and drive in or maybe even book a camping spot. If you go it's well worth either bringing or renting a bike to get around! Thanks for watching! 💓

Yeah when we first went to Key West we were thinking there were going to be so many amazing beaches because it's an island! We were surprised to find out there's actually not many and most of them aren't great. This one's definitely the best in our book though!
Fort Zachary has got to be literally the worst beach I've ever seen. We went there based on so many recommendations only to be met by rocks galore and washed out sand. I honestly cannot understand why people recommend this beach.
Oh, that's too bad you that experience! So... we have been there a number of times, and there's been a couple times that were not as pleasant. Really depends on where they are with any restorations (rocks, etc) and also how the wind is. We have another one to recommend! Have you tried Smathers Beach? 😊
You should've seen some of the wilder things we saw at Fantasy Fest! 😮😂 A funny detail is the nipple ring is leftover from my crazy 20's that I never ended up taking out, but just kept it. It always surprises people that back then I even had a tongue bar and ear rings! I ended up growing up a little bit but had to keep a tiny vestige of the past for ice breaking conversation! 😆

Yeah when we first went to Key West we were thinking there were going to be so many amazing beaches because it's an island! We were surprised to find out there's actually not many and most of them aren't great. This one's definitely the best in our book though!

You got it!! 🎉 Now that was a good movie! The remake was okay but it's hard to beat the original! 🚢
The cruise ships dump their sewage there
We love to go on cruises, but yeah, the waste has to go somewhere... Then again, all our waste from our homes goes somewhere as well...
Sorry to tell you this but Florida is a dump, Once you travel to Mexico you will agree 👀
We love all these places. It's great to have a number of beautiful destinations to choose from all over the world!
I immediately stopped watching the second I saw the nipple ring. 😳 hard pass.
😥😥😥
What a strange reaction! Somebody in a video has a nipple ring and you have to stop watching? Quoting from The Doors ... People Are Strange.
@@DEIGNANMAGIC I was just kidding. I love his nipple ring.
@@PSAdventures I wish I was there!!!
