- Grammy winning producer Butch Vig and engineer John Siket talk about meeting Freedy Johnston and the making of his seminal record This Perfect World. www.kickstarte...
I bought This Perfect World in 1995 when I was 22 years old and working a job on the road away from my hometown for the first time. As a very introverted and uncertain young man, every song spoke to me on so many different levels emotional...and still does to this day.
This is great, definitely one of my favorite records of all time. Also thanks to the movie kingpin which is how i heard about him!
Bad Reputation is, no shit, my favorite song from the entire decade.
Absolutely phenomenal album. One of my faves for decades. Title song is a treasure. What a voice!
As amazing as this album is... I always wonder if there were outtakes, or what songs DIDN'T make the cut... they must be just as amazing.
It is a great album. I remember buying and still listen to it regularly. Every song just goes together perfectly. It's just one of those albums you never skip through and may never learn any of the titles because the story just goes on through each so seamlessly.
Perfect World is a masterpiece, probably my all time favorite. As a guitarist, it's also one of the best guitar records ever. Great video!
This perfect world is the most underrated albums of all time...
Can You Fly?? How could it take so long to get down with that record?
great album. loved it for years. freedy i great
I want to hear the story of the album cover photo! Anyway, This Perfect World is this perfect album. Love you Freedy! I remember you introducing me to Butch (and other Garbage) in Madison. Great people, all of you!
I remember reading that the picture is freedy’s grandparents in front of the taj mahal
Butch vigg iconic for recording the Nevermind album.
Anyone who got to spend time with Kurt Cobain doesnt understand the significance of it. Meeting Kurt was like meeting mozart or Beethoven. NY unplugged was a historical concert and one of the best performances in music history.
Is there any way you can get a message to John Siket for me. We lost track of each other for a few decades. We went to HS together. Great video, by the way.
Go to my website www.freedyjohnston.com and contact my manager with a way for John to contact you.
I think Can You Fly is his best work.
Butch is a genius Nivermind & this perfect world 2 perfect albums.
It breaks my heart that he didn't get bigger than he did.
Hiw can that happen....him Blaze Foley...blows my mind
This Perfect World was my introduction to Freedy. I can't recall how I was made aware of him given the year it came out. It could be that I found out that both Marshall Crenshaw and Graham Maby played on it, so that would have been good enough for me. Maybe I heard Bad Reputation on the radio. Anyway, what an amazing, perfect album. And it still sounds every bit as amazing today as it did back then.
Major tunes
"Can You Fly" Caught Me Immediately. It Might've Took A Few Listens. But I Knew "This Perfect World" Before I Knew "Can You Fly.
Thank you so much Butch for helping make that album possible. Absolutely timeless work.
Its a masterpiece of an album - one of the best of the 90s
This album is one of the greatest sonic assaults on the senses. The song, This Perfect World, is like the, To Kill a Mockingbird, of modern music. Butch Vigg, Freddie Johnston; a couple of desperados holding me up and robbing my very soul!
Have you no heart? Oh yeah! You got mine 😊
I have been looking for the LP for years. I know anyone on this channel will never give theirs up,lol. Beautiful music and songwriting! Great interview guys 👍
Whew, I love the song and album, but "This Perfect World" is not a song I would play at a wedding.
"a lovely, brilliant album"
Truer words were never spoken
Evies Garden for the win
