How to Tie a Blended Chironomid Pupa-The Deep Blue Sea "C" Pupa

- Although an excellent choice for shallow water presentations, my Deep Blue "C" (Chironomid) Pupa pattern excels in deep water. The white bead and blended Steelhead Blue Buzzer Wrap body stand out in the dark, deep water. This pattern has become one of my favourites when targetting trout in deep water over 15 feet.

Very Nice!...I recall last spring dropping a similar experimental red butt purple/blue rib chironomid in 43 ft water & rewarded with instant success, so after destroying the few patterns I had & a great day , I was sure to tie up a few at Base Camp . Of course fish turned right off the following day with some unstable weather, but "Thats Fishin" I now add a coat of Sally Hansons over my Blue Light Cure.
Phil you said deep. How deep are you talking?
Hi Jill, great question.
For me, deep is pretty well anything over 15 feet. I often use this pattern, and others like it in water over 20 feet.
I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers, Phil
Thank you.
Hi Phil, from northern Michigan
Great looking pattern Phil.
I have become accustomed to blending thread bodies, but I've never thought to use the wrap to blend. Great idea!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks, Jason. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. Let me know how you do with your versions. Keep up the great work on your channel, too.
Cheers, Phil
