The second observation; why would you get a vehicle that’s specific for off-road duty when you couldn’t handle a couple of stone chips on your hood? I hear you. I will be 54 in March. I used to not want to drive my stuff to keep it nice. However, I realized that you can use a vehicle and not get the chips on it. Why compromise is my thought. I just put 10,000 miles on the C8 Stingray this year. Drive the heck out of it. But it still looks showroom due to that film.

Maybe you care less about being meticulous, but you can’t assume everyone thinks the same way you do. I’m 67, and driveway-detail both my truck and my wife’s car. I want to buy a Toyota. Not all dealers are that level of terrible. I bought the new 24 from a dealer that never sold above MSRP during the shortages. They are discounting everything. I’m in Pittsburgh, PA and there are good dealers all around. Good to not reward the bad dealers, but don’t think that there aren’t good ones out there!!
@@dilligafmofoker as a general rule, yes. But not at all dealerships. I’ve known the manager at the dealership for over thirty years and 6 cars me or my family bought when he sold at a different Toyota franchise. I asked him if it would be beneficial to take a loan out and get an additional discount. He said it really wasn’t worth it for me to do so. That dealership factors in finance spiffs and just discounts the cars. (There non Pros were at invoice.) I just work the otd and then see if finance will be beneficial. Not really these days.
I've wanted a 5th generation for years until I saw a test of various vehicle crashes and the 4 Runner faired the worst. I'm talking you won't walk away from it if it happens. @@Glasscitycarnerd Thanks - for a first 4runner buyer, do you think the SR5 premium is good enough? I just want something reliable will last 10 years - dont want to have to deal with a turbo engine. The only thing that is somewhat annoying is the silver trim in the SR5 (prefer the ORP interior black trim / carbon) and no auto headlights or AC/heat. I know you had the red one - were those items annoying or no?
Also - just city and highway driving and some dirt roads. No crazy off roading planned. Just want a simple vehicle that will last. My Taco is at 29k miles (oil changes and tire rotations
thus far)
@@MCGTX21 either one would be perfect. However the ORP has the additional off-road modes and manual shift lever. Those may be things you wish you have if you decide to do additional things. However the SR-5 is very capable off road. You can get through all on-road stuff most anything on forest trails, etc. Either way, you will be happy!
@@Glasscitycarnerd great, appreciate the feedback. I’m a basic guy, sr5p seems good enough for me, just wish it had the black trim. - did you have any rub with tires on the old red one? Heard the front will rub with the trd wheels and stock tires in reverse at full lock? In the trd pro they trim at port the front wheel wells from what I read.

Gas sucks on these but very reliable and tough
My c8 Stingray gets 24 mpg on the highway and this gets 19…😂
this vehicle sucking on gas is no different than the premium vehicles that use premium gasoline that cost about the same. My audi was literally about the same at the pump price. Only difference is it gives you less trouble and yes it takes a beating. It’s a truck and not a car after all. I’d rather pay this money for a truck at the pump versus a premium vehicle that’s given me trouble before. never looked back ever since.
love my paid off 21 tacomma keeping it for a long time lol these truck cost alot
Paid for is the best!!
I don’t know the first thing about getting a vehicle detailed, but yeah I JUST got a new 4Runner!! So is ceramic coating a paint job pretty much the gold standard of protecting it?
Paint Protection Film protects the paint and then Ceramic Coating makes is shine and easy to clean. The shop that did my Corvette and TRD Pro has some great videos to show you what it is about.

@@Glasscitycarnerd ok thanks a lot! I guess I’m behind the 8-Ball buying a new 4Runner…and then wondering how to protect it lol. Time to get up to speed and get protection before enduring any nasty rocks!!
@@JoeBuck-uc3bl it’s really worth protecting the hood/fenders at the least and ceramic coating it. Then keep it for a long time!
I want to buy a Toyota. It seems like a good vehicle to buy for the resale value and everything and then I walked into the Toyota dealership and saw how they treat you number one they don’t want to talk to people that have the money to pay cash for a vehicle, all they wanna do is review with hidden fees and some big finance deal I most likely won’t buy a Toyota, because of how I was treated at the dealership by a punk child who is wearing a salesman’s costume
Best not to tell them you’re paying cash. Pay it off on your first payment. Makes sure there’s no early payoff penalty.
Now the earlier 3rd & 4th generations, I don't know? Currently I'd love to get my hands on the new Land Cruiser after the "Bronco" type sales market evaporates. A new release of the FJ revamped would be awesome as well
I’ve seen some owners on FB Groups walk away from some bad wrecks. When I’m driving my 93 Celica I’m really aware of the size advantage most new cars have. Nothing is perfect but I’m sure the 6th Gen will be better.
Maybe compared to vehicles of similar size.... 4runner is better than any car
Took 5 months from when I put the $100 down to get my wife's 4Runner TRD Pro. But it's an awesome vehicle.
I just found out it’s within two weeks of arriving!
Do you like those tires ?
I love them. Wildpeaks are amazing all around tires especially with snow. I really recommend them!
I 50 I care n I bought the 3m film protector all over those rocks bounce off no damage to the car
Such a great way to keep these looking great!
Do you tow with yours?
I have a smaller cart that attaches to the trailer hitch that allows for hauling bales of dirt/multch and my pressure washer and mower. Never a trailer.
Very nice! What brand tires? Thanks
Falken Wildpeaks. Great tires!
XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF as soon as you buy it get it done. Do not drive without it.
It’s going straight to shop about ten miles away from dealership. If they aren’t able to trailer it, I will track wrap it for the trip.
Get protection film on that front part of hood. Easy solutions to the rock chips
I have a red orp and my daughter says I’m not allowed to trade or sell it. Still, I would have loved the heated steering wheel, but mine’s a ‘20. And there’s no color I’d switch. Do what makes you happy….or what your kid allows. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
I want to keep this, but, in full disclosure, I have a new Stingray and, yikes, eight collector cars. It’s the perfect vehicle for my son to drive, but he’s not going to be old enough for a few years. I’m not in a rush, but I’m learning towards selling.
What color pro u getting

How much you asking?
$38000
I picked up a 2022 sr5 and I’m sad it wasn’t at least a TRD Off Road 😢
SR5s are probably the best for 90 percent of what you need TBH. I’ve only used A -Trac once, most of my time just 4WD is fine. The better tires were the best upgrade.
Trd off road premium is superior to the trd pro
@@mysteriousoklahoma777 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
First world problems for sure 😂 I wish my 2015 SR5P had it :(
It’s amazing the improvements they added since my 21. The only thing I wish it had was cooled seats like the limited. 😂
@@Glasscitycarnerd yes :( when I look at the features the limited offers I get a lil jealous. But for some reason I just like the color matching and the front end of the SR5. Just wish the premium had the diff lock but then no one would buy the off road.
@@Glasscitycarnerd LOL, we just bought it by accident. I was looking for a TRD OR for the cloth seats. A new 2023 limited came up in the same price as the OR that I was looking at. You have your TRD Ivan Stewart Badge on backwards. Yellow first

@@Glasscitycarnerd - You must not live in California. I always hear about people paying off their homes and realize they must owe less than $100,000 or something. In CA it’s $300K or over you owe on a house. Gives me incentive to move. I want one of these 5th gen’s but it would take too much of a chunk out of monthly expenses. It’s ridiculous what they charge for these 4runners brand new. Way overpriced.
Lucky no windshield chips or cracks.
Absolutely. The new one is getting protective film that will hopefully prevent that.
Usually, people get the TRD Pro for the off-roading gadgets but heated steering wheel? Okay.
Got it for that too. Did I buy my Stingray because it tops out well north of 150 mph? No, but it’s nice to have it…..😂
I’m not sure if I could spend $50,000 on a vehicle that gets poor efficiency anymore. Sure when gas was cheaper 15 years ago maybe, but now? Nah. It’s got to average at least 25 or more
Seeing the cost of most vehicles, the capability of this, the long term reliability, it seems like a bargain in comparison to most things out there. I will make up the higher fuel costs with the lack of repairs.
@@Glasscitycarnerd well, I can’t argue that. Although the other side of the coin is that V6 engine doesn’t have enough power for me personally. I’m gonna wait to see what the hybrid turbos on the Tacoma’s are like when they come out around April. 326hp/465ftlbs sounds interesting
Damn look at her 😍 !!!....

all new cars are water based paint. BMW's and Minis are Really bad for this!!
Lucky you
I'm a Toyota fan boy but they do use cheap paint and dont paint these correctly. I offroad my 2019 Tacoma offroad often and have lots of scratches from brush, so I'm not picky, but one small dent I got and the paint chipped down to the bare metal. Although they're great cars and last a long time, I would get a Honda/Acura for my next vehicle. The paint is better on them and their tech is much better done, like their walk away locking, auto start, and other Honda tech features. Toyota's tech is quirky, but I still love my Tacoma as an offroader/camping vehicle.
Not a fan of the paint quality for sure. However, the new one is going to pop with XPel and Ceramic Coating.
your gonna miss it a pro isn't worth it lol
why trade it? if you can build it
