    A couple observations. When you get older, I’m 54, you care less about being as meticulous as you are about vehicles 😅. The second observation; why would you get a vehicle that’s specific for off-road duty when you couldn’t handle a couple of stone chips on your hood? Seems like it’s counter to your agenda to keep these things looking as new as possible.

    • @Glasscitycarnerd
      @Glasscitycarnerd  8 месяцев назад +5

      I hear you. I will be 54 in March. I used to not want to drive my stuff to keep it nice. However, I realized that you can use a vehicle and not get the chips on it. Why compromise is my thought. I just put 10,000 miles on the C8 Stingray this year. Drive the heck out of it. But it still looks showroom due to that film.

      @@Glasscitycarnerd it’s sad that you have to put something over the paint like a ceramic wrap. It’s a fakeness that doesn’t set well with me. But, I’m not against paint protection film the dealers put on the fenders and bumpers or other likely debris impact areas. So figure out my mental gymnastics on that one. lol

      Maybe you care less about being meticulous, but you can’t assume everyone thinks the same way you do. I’m 67, and driveway-detail both my truck and my wife’s car. Neither has ever been through an automatic car wash. I use car detailing chemicals from Adams in Colorado. I’m service-disabled, so it takes a long time for me and I use stools with casters and other “technology” to help me. And, I know I can’t do it forever - eventually, I will have to give in and let someone else do it. But, I wrenched on cars starting when I was 16. They’re too complicated now to do anything, so I lean into the detailing.

    Nice SR5! I got my 24 4Runner TRD Pro in Underground back in December and love it! Traded in my Jeep JL Rubicon for it. My wife liked my 4Runner so much we went back and traded in her Grand Cherokee for a 4Runner Limited in the Wind Chill color. We had kind of the same motivation. We wanted to get the vehicles to keep long term and new this was our last chance to get an old school super reliable Toyota. A lot of what reviewers complain about with the 4Runners is what makes me like them. The only complaint I have would be the camera's quality all around but I'm thankful they're there. I subscibed and hope to see your new ride when you get it!

    I don't drive a 4Runner, however, I too am extremely picky about protecting the paint on my truck. An annual FluidFilm in state that uses road salt is mandatory.
    For me, I find that not tailgating and not staying behind tractor trailers or construction vehicles greatly helps to prevent against stone chips on the hood. Generally speaking, and where practical, I stay in the right lane and about 2 car lengths from whatever is in front of me.........and it has worked well for me. Frustrates many drivers. Good! See ya' at the next traffic light.

    I'm a Toyota fan boy but they do use cheap paint and dont paint these correctly. I offroad my 2019 Tacoma offroad often and have lots of scratches from brush, so I'm not picky, but one small dent I got and the paint chipped down to the bare metal. Although they're great cars and last a long time, I would get a Honda/Acura for my next vehicle. The paint is better on them and their tech is much better done, like their walk away locking, auto start, and other Honda tech features. Toyota's tech is quirky, but I still love my Tacoma as an offroader/camping vehicle.
