This is a great Tutorial. I was So anxiety-riddled in graphic Design school (mainly cuz it was my first time on a Mac) that I Dropped out 2 yrs in. Watching you break this down ,so clearly and concisely, has made me wish we had YT and these types of tutorials way back then... I would've actually understood what the terrible and angry teachers at that Awful school, were trying to teach us. I was, especially, apprehensive about ever attempting to design Graffiti text/anything, but after watching this video I am excited about trying this out! ... also this helped me really understand the benefits and usability of Layers!! lol I'd ALWAYS forget to add that mf layer and have MELTDOWNS Every Day! ... so, much appreciated video!! Thank you!

I just came across this today. I am horrible at drawing letters so I'm making myself learn lettering and was looking for more lettering tutorials when I ended up here. I cheated a bit and made stamps of each of your letters (using screenshots from the video as a reference) and put them in a brushset so I wouldn't need to redraw the line art to play with them more later. I learned more about procreate from completing the first one (Letter A) I didn't know about using automatic selection for coloring. I still have issues with my colors not filling in lines 100% regardless of where I put the threshold, so the auto select let me clean that up. Looking forward to doing the rest of the alphabet! I didn't see a link to a color palette, so I'll make one for myself as I go.

Thanks James. My 13yr wants to learn Procreate and I suggested your page and he found this tutorial. He is wrapped and it doing one letter each day. He usually does his art the traditional way but his loving digital. I am hoping he will do a one of your landscape tutorials.

Awesome work James. Thx a lot. 👏🏼The lighting pen in the End of the Letter B is in my case not non blue white like, otherwise yours. Can you tell me why? Mine is just plane blueish. I use the same pen, same color profile.

Yo James, when I press the little Z in the corner I can’t get that stripy background you get when trying to airbrush my graffiti. Why won’t it stay that way? Instead, it stays as a white background that gets airbrushed as well.
Weird, honestly it’s impossible for me to understand what the problem might be without seeing it sorry

what is the size of the studio pen at 3:15
Whenever I press my pencil to the paper to make these dots sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. This is a pressure setting that I need to go into perhaps not sure about that. I can back it up and replay it when I’m not catching what you just said what you did and then I have the latest version procreate the latest iPad so there are some features that are kind of Different that I have to go into different places to find them but the pressure that I have to exert on the iPad. Feels like it’s gonna break the glass if I press too hard before I can even get those dots to show up so any help in that area anybody?

On the letter a, how did you select the interior at 3:52 every time I do it the entire page gets selected as blue instead of just the interior
You need to close any gaps
I'm stuck on A. When I go to selection and automatic and touch my letter, the whole screen goes blue and my first layer A is visible but white. The only layer selected and visible is the layer with the outline. I checked and my husband the outline layer and it looks closed. Do you possibly know why mine isn't doing the stripey gray background like yours? (3:57). Thanks!
Strange difficult to understand without seeing what you’ve done, but typically I’d of thought a small gap would be there. Assuming it’s not I’m a bit confused
this kept happening to me too. I had tiny gaps, once filled it worked!
The gaps were filled. My husband figured out that I had somehow created a reference layer for the original A. Once he got rid of it, everything worked. Thank you!

Could not follow because talking too fast. Do you know if there is a way to slow down your speech? I know that this is possible with some yt videos I watched, but could not figure out how to slow down this video. Hope you can let me know. Your work is fantastic. Not for these as there are too many colours used. Also unlike the more photorealistic images of my other tutorials the colours don’t have to be totally accurate here.

Without seeing your screen I’m not certain. If it’s blue it is blue it’s probably just the colour it goes to show you what you have selected
