Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like Yao was the only one who successfully incorporated a Hakeem inspired style in his post game consistently throughout his career.
VrQz Silent Yeah, I think Kobe was definately more inspired by jordan. And the nature of his game demanded more high post/baseline touches in the post, which resulted in fadeaway and turnaround shots.
Looks like Dwight travelled when he spun around. Also, the point is to do the shake and get a hookshot or something and not go for a dunk because he won't get that kind of space in a real game perhaps.
@asian dude Olajuwon is not teaching him how to dunk. He's trying to teach footwork, post moves, spin, hook shots. You're not gonna have the luxury to dunk all the time.
@asian dude because dunk often needs so much physical confrontation and risk against opponents like shaq. point of his teaching is how to fool them. and score smoothly. The dream never risk when he post up. he really didn't have to dunk to score constantly. that's why every 90s' legendary centers bend knee to the dream.
@asian dude and get called for many many offensive fouls against a smart defender who knows how to take a charge. Or be the target of a double team and then you definitely cannot contend physically against 2 people
Its amazing how much balance and control Hakeem had had with all his size. The only person who was nearly as smooth in the video was Kobe, and he is 6'6. All the big man looked stiff trying to do those moves. Respect to Hakeem.
Hakeem's body control is unparalleled, especially for a guy his size. The way he curls his body around the center of gravity and spins quickly while maintaining balance and control is just beautiful to watch.
wwbdwwbd it comes from his SOCCER playing days. Most athletes do not train balance and body control. I tell every kid athletes parents to buy them a BOSU BALL.
@@ButlerJ2 yes. WAS. He is a very decent player now. From gsw to Lakers, he is now considered one of the best defensive centers in the league. I am happy with his growth - from joke to a real center.

What's crazy is that if Hakeem came up today, his youth coaches would have made him extend his natural jumper to the three point line. God help you at that point
if you want to play like Hakeem, some basics: you got to dribble as fast as a small foward, you must have accurate baseline and turn around jumper to make your fake show threat, you must be very good at center basics like baby hooks from different angle
Honestly. Coming from a KAT/T-Wolves fan (fav player but I'm solely a Wolves fan), who doesn't even like LeBron as much as Hakeem, Lebron. Best post moves + Defense? Hakeem. But ALL AROUND is passing+iq+scoring+rebounds+steals+blocks+on ball d+off ball d+handles+shooting+finishing+clutchness. LeBron: Passing, IQ, Scoring, Rebounds, Steals (career 1.7 per game), blocks, on and off ball d, handles, finishing, dunks, and clutchness (see 2016 Finals). Hakeem: Scoring, IQ, Rebounds, Blocks, On and Off ball D, Finishing, Passing.
Umm, dude, you realise Hakeem could steal the ball too right? Career 1.7 as well. Hakeem also had good handles. If you wanna talk about clutch. How about the winning tip in Game 1 of 1995 NBA Finals. Hakeem was the most skilled center ever.
Mo Wat & MiNNEAPOLiSTiLLiDiE There was this guy that used to play in Chicago that was all around too with the complete offensive & defensive repertoire along with the intangibles. This guy had bball IQ, SCORING [ball in hand and catch & shoot], CLUTCH [2pt, 3pt, passing, rebounding, free throws, defending], will-to-win, finisher, quickness, on/off ball defense (learned @ school of Dean Smith), steals, blocks, underrated passer & rebounder (ex: see move to PG in '89), athleticism, hang time, great body control, hand-size, not turnover-prone, leader, post game, go-to-moves [fadeaway from outside & reverse layup from inside], footwork, fundamentals, creativity, handles, could use both hands, efficient, strength, mental toughness, stamina, etc, etc, etc.......then add the fact that his game went up in the playoffs, if you talked about him before or during the game (whether it be a coach, fan, the media or opposing player) or if he was sick or injured. Seriously, What do y'all think about him?
Jordan NEVER needed help/teachings/training from another Hall of Famer to be lethal offensively. He discovered and learned on his OWN. That shows who the real GOAT is.
The dream shake is the hardest to learn ..because it’s not just one move but many moves ..depends on the defense gives you and how to counter it.. and how to work on your footwork beautifully ..if you do it wrong it looks ugly and worst you traveling ..my opinion Hakeem , Jordan , Kobe were the best ..and no body even bother to learn it again either it’s so hard or they just want to shoot 3
I wish other legends took the time to pass on their championship level skills on to the next generation. Imagine if Larry Bird was giving out 3 point shooting lessons after his retirement or if Jordan was handing out flight lessons.

Swish Scope the prettiest low post player to watch ever
I would bet money he would clean up in some kind of pro am open gym to this day
I think Kobe and Yao are the best students who can utilize Dream's skill smoothly

Hakeem didn't bother teaching Dwight finesse moves I see, lmao
He did honestly and with D-MO also. Howard just still wanted to be a dick head and not do any post moves lol
