      I think a workaround for this is if you run the different variations in different chains you can then crossfade between them

    • @G8tr1522

      this gets messy very quickly when you think about how to fade in a parameter with discrete choices. Let's say a Macro is mapped to a waveform selector. How do you know when to move knob? how much? Do i move from sine wave, and jump to sawtooth? do i select the waves between those two? You'd have to manually set up exceptions between every preset.
      Using a multi map is a much cleaner way if you want to do something like this.

    There should be percentage value for different macros and all macros when using random control.
    Macro snapshots variations should have fade time between snapshots.
    That would be superb.
    Great work Ableton. I am happy.

      only hard jump. I suspect the main reason for not adding smooth transitions are is that a lot of parameter changes would not really work going smoothly between so if it's going to happen it will probably complicate the mapping UI even further. It's AFAIK just presets for now and it's a good start.

      @@pleggli yah, I'm impressed regardless. This is one of those features that I needed, but didn't know how I needed it, or where I needed it. I tend to spend most my time tweaking VST's, and this is basically an quick way to bookmark my discoveries.

    • @pleggli

      @@karlstenator
      It's easy to first create the presets and then create transitions in the automation editor manually where you can adjust the curves for each parameter at the same time since it probably won't sound right using the same curve for every parameter transitions even for the same parameter going between different presets if it's going to sound real good .

      @Ableton  Год назад +1

      Hi Sunne,
      Thanks for the comment.
      No. If a knob has been assigned a macro, then it's going to interact with that macro every time you turn the knob from then on.

    When you MIDI Map a controller to scroll through the Macro variations, yes it scrolls through the available selections but it doesn't actually change to the variation that is selected. I don't really see any practical application of this? Wouldn't it be better to actually change the variation so that you can change them on the fly? It would also be great to be able to do this from Push but I read below why this would be difficult to implement. But yeah, the MIDI mapping should definitely behave more intuitively.

    • @_revshark_
      @_revshark_ 3 года назад +1

      It's easier than you think to do this on Push. Just use the User Mode and map any button on Push to switch between the variations. Then u can change modes on fly and create stunning improvisations ;)

    Hi, Is the midimapping of the launchbuttons of the different macrosetings already fixed or is this still not working? It's still not working with Push2 or with the keyboard with the trial version of 11. Al what happens is the launchbutton changes but in every variation the macro's are set the same so at the end there are for variations with all the same settings.

      ya not ideal. cumbersome but a workaround would be throwing the two different snapshots as copy of the rack into two chains within a new rack, and automate a fade between them via the chain selector. i think the goal w this feature is more for sound design / experimentation / discovery than for composition but i feel u!

    • @A7exandersca7es

      I think the blame is more on akai's shoulders there with the limitations of push's hardware.

    • @Nomo_Popo
      @Nomo_Popo 3 года назад

      @@A7exandersca7es Akai just made the hardware. It comes down to the design. The more one wants to do things with Push the more complicated it becomes and you find the limits of the how it's designed. Ideally in the next iteration of Push, there'd be a designated 'Rack' button where you can do this kind of stuff. First the API needs to enable this kind of functionality so it can be scripted for midi controllers. Currently the API doesn't allow you to create racks or utilize anything from the new Snapshots function but I expect it to be there in due time (the Snapshots at least)

    such a great feature to add for the recall. I believe a lot of us out here had hacks to get around that limitation in prior versions by using the chain and midi mapping it with the same effect chain but slightly altered as a "snapshot" or some other nefarious means of max msp patches or preset values on the controller itself. Will save dozens of hours on projects.

      I guess the workaround would be to make an FX chain on the chain of the desired instrument, with one empty Dry channel and one Wet channel where any and all FX are 100% Wet. Then you can adjust the volume of that FX chain, which is at least somewhat getting there. I know it's not the same tho. Looks like the new Hybrid Reverb unit has its own Send knob, which is super useful; you could get around the problem with that effect, at least!
