1:57 Ay-Chung Flour Rice Noodles
On Day 6 in Taipei, the time came for Ying’s sister to head back to Bangkok and so Ying and I also checked out of our hotel and though we didn’t fly anywhere we brought Ying’s sister to the airport and moved to a new hotel. After checking out of our hotel I first wanted to make a quick stop at a famous Taiwanese street food restaurant called Ay-Chung, that specializes in serving flour noodles in a gravy sauce. The restaurant was located just a little walk from out hotel, and right next to Ximen station. We arrived to Ay-Chung at about 11 am, just after they opened, and already there was quite a crowd there eating around the shop. To order we had to go up to the front, place our order, and then they gave us a bowl of their famous oyster flour noodles. I first went over and added some chili, vinegar, and hot sauce to my bowl of noodles to enhance the flavor. The flour noodles at Ay-Chung are not legendary for no reason, they were actually quite tasty, with such a smokey flavor that it almost tasted like bacon. I can see why this Taiwanese street food is so popular and why many people in Ximending can’t resist a bowl.
5:58 Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
After having the rice flour noodles we headed over to our new hotel, which was called Homey House, and because we were too early to check in, we just dropped off our big bag and then continued on for the day. Everything took a little longer than expected, so we didn’t have time for lunch, but instead we had to go straight to the airport to take Ying’s Sister. We ended up going to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in the same way as we had come - we took the high speed rail to Taoyuan station then took a shuttle bus to the airport. The journey took about 1 hour.
7:46 Banqiao Station
After dropping Ying’s sister at the airport, Ying and I decided to take the bus back to Taipei from the airport instead of the train, and also I wanted to get off at Banqiao station instead of going all the way to Taipei Main Station in order to go to the Lin Family Garden and Mansion. The bus ride took a bit longer than expected though, and when we got to Banqiao station, the mansion was about ready to close, so we had to cancel that plan. We were quite hungry by this time, and after walking around for a bit and not finding any food, we decided to go to the nearest 7-Eleven and I had a Taiwanese tea egg and a banana to hold me over. We arrived back to our hotel, check in, and then Ying and I went out to eat for dinner. But we made a separate video about dinner which I’ll publish later.
That was Day 6 of this Taiwan travel guide video series. Thank you for watching!

Judy Lam Really appreciate it Judy, thank you for watching, and good to hear you'll be going to Taipei soon.
I like seeing you and Ying in the scenes together....ya'll were made for each other it's obvious. Great vlog again.
Neil Simon Thank you very much Neil, I'm really happy to be with her and travel with her!
Mark Wiens I don't know if you do it now or you might be thinking about it but you should have your own TV show. I would be happy if you just do what youre doing now but just for the financial side of it. You don't seem like a person who cares about money over happiness. But youre definitely charismatic and you have great pronunciation and presence. Just sayin'....You could be epic on TV. Good luck with whatever you do in the future.
I.... looooooooove these vlogs, Mark you should do more. :D
jimmy hallstrom Thanks Jimmy
That bathroom looked interesting. I can imagine Ying and her sister whispering and giggling as you toweled yourself dry. LOL Noodles looked OK so I'm assuming you have to taste them to appreciate. So funny to see you eating at a place like 7-11. Your reactions to the new bathroom are priceless.
Perdomot Thanks, yah probably true. I had no idea our bathroom was going to come with a Japanese seat, amazing!
Mark and Ying, A beautiful video. I am so jealous that I did not get to see all of Tiawan that you have shown. I did not get past the train station. So wonderful. I just got to view it via your eyes. Thanks so much!

jayisoldem56 Thank you very much!
wish I was there, as the food look so good. Mark discribe all his eating experience amazingly.
We stayed in Ximending area in Taipei. It's one of thr cheapest hotel in the area. And it went beyond my expectation. The hotel room has complete facilities, from slippers, to hair dryers up to washing machines. Better than the 4-star hotel where I stayed before. Though there was an inconvenience happened, it was all paid out when we started exploring! People are nice. When you ask something they will really approach you and if they sense you really need helped, they will really give an effort, which we appreciate a lot. I miss Taiwan already. Four days is not enough. I want to go back.
I just love chillies. :D They enhance the taste of the dish beautifully.
Really interesting to watch these videos from you two.
Love watching your vlogs Mark. You and Ying seem to make a great couple. Whenever I sit to watch your vlogs DAILY, my 2 boys always run in as soon as they hear the your intro music haha. Keep up the great work you do.

She is and cute
Nice coverage of the public transport and hotels. At least you had the Ay-Chung noodles =)
Thanks for sharing!! The oyster flour noodle soup is really good. I like to eat it with lots of chili sauce and add some parsley and Taiwanese style preserved vegetable to make it more favorable.
I love that type of noodles. The place I would go to get that has been gone for a while now and I miss it so much.
CrunchyTofu Good to hear that, too bad that old place is gone.

Taiwanese food is one of my favorites, they are very high quality and delicate with a mix of Chinese, Japanese, local and other influences mixed in. but I can understand why Mark doesn't seem as crazy about them as he is with Thai food. He's used to the spicy and sour and herby flavors of south east asia cusine, he likes lots of flavors and doesn't like if the food is too bland or sweet.
TheRealHero1 Thank you very much for watching and for the comment. Yah, I think the Thai and other Southeast Asian flavors are my favorite, but I still love the braised flavors and the Chinese foods in Taiwan as well.
Mark Wiens. I like Thai and southeast asia taste as well.👍
Majority of local Taiwanese people are not really into spicy food, when they claim that it's spicy, it's actually like a bit of heat like putting tiny bit of bird eye chilli
@@metalalive2006 unless you're like my mom lol she loved spicy food. 😉
2yrs behind but loving these vlogs
your all videos are awesome 👌 👏 👏

yyemenia yyemenia Thanks!
I sort of like it when things go wrong. you teach me,oh wise traveler, what to do. 7-11 tea egg and banana, ah-so! The up and coming vlog meal looks good. One of the buttons on the toilet heats the seat! LOL
7-11 in Taiwan has been known as one-stop junk food station. They are everywhere in Taiwan.
I like that you always have a good statement for something thing that is bad
Great video Mark
defjamblade Thanks
omg ,the food looks delicious 😍
That was a very nice video and music
I like this misua so yummy and spicy thank u😍😍😍
This looks so satisfying Mark i'll definately go there when i go to Taiwan. I first tried this in KLIA2 air port in Malaysia while i was in my long transit. And i buy this meal everytime i transit there. But there isn't any pork pieces like yours. So travellers out there if you want this dish in KLIA2 it's in Level 2 Shop No.34! I had it as a set meal with smoke plum juice and sweet potatoes fries in total 17.50RM which is 4.10$. The shop name is Shihlin Taiwan Sweet Snacks. Oh you can only go to this shop and it's building if you only go through the the immigration and luggage claim.
Hello Mark & Ying!
Thank You for sharing! Would like to know about Ying? Would like to hear her thoughts & likes of food? I really enjoy your kindness for other people. You are very humble in your manner. I appreciate your hard & all you do.🍜

Mark u need to come visit my hometown Tainan, that's where all the delicious street foods are.
David Shen Hey David, yah I really wanted to come, but ran out of time. I hope to visit on next trip.
Mark Wiens Hey Mark thanks for the reply. I watched all 12 days of your Taiwan videos and they were really great, they also reminded me of my visits to Taipei. I enjoyed ur last video the most since u ordered the milkfish, which is the fish exclusively grown in Tainan, thus, u will love ur food vlogging in Tainan if you decide to come one day. Another famous ingredient in Tainan is the locally grown beef, I guarantee you would fall in love with it. Keep more of those great videos coming, xie-xie!
No big bite hot dogs or hot wings at that 7-11 over there😀😀😀. But Mark makes any food inspiring to eat. Thanks for sharing
Keep the good mark
