  • 3D print real working impeller jet engine.
4.8V, 12A, pushing a 500g vice slowly across the workbench.
If this would work in a real RC plane? ...
    STL and blender files: www.dropbox.com/sh/us2pyxv7u9...
printed with rapman, 1/8mm, PLA, no raft.

Would be nice to see the thrust possible with an brushless....I mean that is a brushed motor! and it is nicely kicking!!

    Hello Christoph,
I printed the parts, they look great.
I can't find the central lock nut that you used to hold all the parts to the motor?
It is in your picture but not in the STL's.

    Hi Christoph
    Thanks about the stl files.
I try to print it and test in my airplane.
I didnt see how you fixed the impeller with the motor axis.
I want to build an rc outrunner motor in it .
    Regard Örs

hi christoph, I printed most of the parts of this impeller jet engine but impelleur_rotor_a.stl gives me only the central part no blades. corruptrd file? When i open the file in blender, i see de blade but when i slice the stl files created with blender, no blade!!!

    Hey!
I would love to get the file for this impeller design. I need to make some impellers for a project I am doing, and this would be a good place to start.

  • @pauljs75

The main goal of impeller on a jet engine is actually compression. (Unless it's a bypass fan design, in which case the fan stage does produce some amount of thrust.) Thrust is then developed by expanding gases due to combustion in the burner stage and passage through the reaction nozzles or vanes at the stator before the expansion stage turbines. If you were to put a restriction on it and measure the pressure increase, that would likely tell you if the design is any good.
Now if only you had access to one of those metal-sintering 3D printers.

    • @ChristophLaimer

I used a dc motor from an old rc-car. The dimensions match with the standard rs-540 motor (35mm diameter, 54mm length).

for everybody seeing this in 2018 DO NOT PRINT IT!!! it is a waste of filament. the files are not complete there a missing som stuff AND it is solid it does look hollow bout it is NOT trust me have printed 2 of this now and it is 100% solid where the engine go. i believe this is on purpose from christoph some sort of bad joke or just stupidity. so DOT NOT print it is a waste of time
