Chestnut is kinda ugly but it's nice kinda yellow the wood I have I wonder if where it grew im in east tn smokey man's had the biggest historical tree

I’ve got a staircase in my house built from chestnut. It’s beautiful. Not sure what’s going on with the ugly wood but anything I’ve seen has been nice. I’m in Eastern Kentucky, not too far away.
