Nice to see someone finally let loose on one of those hvlp machines. Open it up full throttle and let the paint fly. In a controlled manner of course. Impressive!
I just bought the apollo elite kit from you. I'm going to experiment on some mirrors and furniture, then ultimately move on to cabinets. It would be great if you would cover Renner coatings; how you select and prepare them. I have a local Sherwin Williams as well, I'm just wondering what coating would work best on cabinets. I have verified that the current cabinets are latex so I need to stick with that instead of oil.
Louis, you are truly the best finisher I have seen on the internet! Can you please please please do a video of your process using the SurfPrep sander and Renner products (i.e. how many coats, etc.)? I have some Maple shaker cabinets I want to refinish to a dark grey/blue as well as a whole house of maple trim/doors/window frames I want to paint out white. I know you are a big advocate of SurfPrep and Renner and I am impressed with this hvlp as well. At this point I would follow any procedure you would recommend! Thank you so much for these videos, I just wish there were more because most stuff out there is horrible if you want to do it correctly.
Thank you! Comments like yours definitely motivate me to give as much info as I possibly can! I have lots of new videos in the works and will absolutely do a video for you in the next few weeks.
Since im not sponsored by anyone I can say one thing about this unit-I have this unit and I love gun but unit not so much ( I use water based paint) and unit is underpowered- and I also have titan 115 cap sprayer hvlp that has so much power that I don’t have to Dilute anything just add a little bit Of florotrole And one more thing -Appolo costumer service sock
How does this unit compare to a Graco GX19 with a FFLP tip in regards to quality of finish, amount of over spray and waste? I’m going to spray a set of kitchen cabinets, interior doors, baseboard and window trim. For these applications which unit do you recommend?
Is there a Renner shop or Rep in the Indianapolis area. I am getting more and more kitchen/ bathroom refinishes. I am using general finishes at the moment, but the closest paint match is 5 hrs away.
I use turbine system daily but I spray a lot of lacquer so my needle is a 1.4. What size do you use for renner paints? I’ve used renner but always have to thin it to get it to spray good. Would a 2.0 be ideal?
Is that a small compressor motor you're running for the remote pot? If so, what are you running there? I'm thinking bout making a similar set up but with a 2 /12 gal. pressure pot.
Pretty impressive! About to build a wood shop in large garage. Use to have a Kremlin system back in the day! This looks BETTER! 2K a lot to invest for 'hobby shop', but finish is everything! Can I get a nice 20 sheen paint finish with Renner and a Apollo 5? How does Renner compare to M.L. Cambell coatings? You couldn't beat Clawlock for MDF prime. I know everything is waterbased now, so I'm worried I'm too old school to get the hang of water base finishes.
I've been studying this as well. BTW the Jasso elite gun kit is the best deal around with all the extras. I can't seem to find much information for cabinet coatings, but "catalyzed" coatings seem to be the thing. I'm not sure if my local Sherwin Williams has them, or if I need to order Renner online and simply hope for the best. Definitely something I'd like to know more about.
Hello L, I’m about to paint my cabinets white. I’m using. a gx19 pro finish system with a fflp 310 tip and using Bin shellac for primer and a waterbase urethane enamel. Do I need to sand all the way down to bare wood? I was just hoping to sand at 220 and spray primer and sand primer if needed to a 320 to apply top coat. What are your thoughts?
I would recommend sending with 150 when going over an existing finish. Anything over and you begin to polish the substrate. You don't need to go to raw wood just make sure everything is sufficiently scuff sanded
The gun is much easier to work with using fine finish materials. The turbine is above and beyond anything titan has to offer. The apollo has an actual digital read out that allows you to fine tune your air pressure.
The nightmare of cleaning the pot makes me wish I bought the giant one on the cart. Would be nice to just leave the paint in the can instead of dealing with this.
It is a bit easier to work on cabinets and get into tight spaces. You can also spray upside down. Another big advantage is being able to spray more material. a pressure pot holds 2 quarts or 2 gallons opposed to 1quart.
Hey bro I have the titan 115 with the a7700 and I want to start using the renner . Trying to leave the solvent .. wich renner product do you recomend me
The cost of Renner is actually far cheaper due to the application cost. Renner products are high solids and require fewer coats which make the product much more affordable than a low solids, thin film coating
Hello Louis, thank you for the informative videos, you seem like such a nice young man. We (husband and I) are very interested in a Apollo system for short and long term goals. We were disturbed by an interview We watched with Chris “The Idaho Painter” and Bill Boxer (representing Apollo) at the Las Vegas AWFS show. Bill Boxer stated the manufacturer of the Apollo motors say the motors life span is approx 500-600 hours. I may be expecting too much of it but, if I figure on using the machine very much, that doesn’t give me very much time. Do you have anything to add to this that may help us understand better.
Hi Cindi! This is true, however Apollo has gone to great links to extend the life of the motors. They also offer a 5 year warranty! They will last forever if properly maintained. It is important to be mindful of the dust in the area while the unit is running. I am actually now an Apollo distributor if you would like to call me and discuss further. 346.345.8951
@@justinm4219 true. they’re a mess. They leave a damn good finish, but you have to mask the hell out of the area and throws a lotta dust all over in the air

Great video. Nice to see it in action spraying an actual kitchen island. Wow so little over spray.
Good video I have a couple of Apollo guns that I really like. Really want to get my hands on some of that renner and see what it brings to the table.
Shoot me an email. I'll get you some
This is a very cool setup. Not sure I would want a 30ft material hose on my remote pot but it's definitely a cool option to have.
Agree. Seems like a pint of material wasted to prime the hose. But I still may buy it anyway.

louis Jasso That would be wonderful! I eagerly await your next video!
Minimum overspray! Just add a negative air chamber. Excellent work man.
On the 2 quart remote setup, how much paint does the 30 foot fluid hose take? Give or take.

Very nice, what needle and cap set are you using ? Kinda looks like a 1.0mm
What do you set your compressor and pressure pot to?
How safe is to use isocyanate based crosslinkers in this scenario? .. Obviously there is no vapour cartridge that can protect from it.
Is that a small compressor motor you're running for the remote pot? If so, what are you running there? I'm thinking bout making a similar set up but with a 2 /12 gal. pressure pot.
Can I conect my compressor to preshure pot ?
Thank you
How does the apollo compare to the 9.5 pro comp
I have a similar one, works good for waterborne, is that lacquer? Thanks.

Hi where did you get the fun and what brand thanks God bless you
what a fine finish , only to be touched up with a 99 cent chip brush ???? what's with all the runs ????
Hey, I have a titan cap spray 115. Would you suggest using that to spray the renner 643 and 851?
Hey Edward! My dad uses that setup with renner but not the 2k. Honestly man I wouldn't know if it would spray the 2k or not.
How many coats needs with that sistem??
Can u run the 30 ft hose without the assistance of the air compressor? Using only the turbine air ?
No.

Daniel make sure it’s not maple or you could scratch the hell out of it with any paper under 320.
What is the difference between titan capspray 115 and the Apolo?
The gun is much easier to work with using fine finish materials. The turbine is above and beyond anything titan has to offer. The apollo has an actual digital read out that allows you to fine tune your air pressure.
Is the lining of the pressure pot supposed to be nonstick? As much as I love my Apollo, cleaning the 2 quart pressure pot is a nightmare.
The nightmare of cleaning the pot makes me wish I bought the giant one on the cart. Would be nice to just leave the paint in the can instead of dealing with this.
I have the apollo what niddle would I have to use to spray emerald urethane?
1,3 mm
What do gain by not having a cup at the gun full of paint? Seems like having to clean that long hose sucks.
It is a bit easier to work on cabinets and get into tight spaces. You can also spray upside down. Another big advantage is being able to spray more material. a pressure pot holds 2 quarts or 2 gallons opposed to 1quart.
It also helps with viscous materials. The compressor pushes the paint out, leaving the full power of the turbine to atomize it.
Hy how much does it cost a hvlp system like that, and how can i buy it. Im from spain
Around $2300 American. You can check out the website hvlp.com and see if they have options in Spain

Are you comfortable using 2k products?

The cost of Renner is actually far cheaper due to the application cost. Renner products are high solids and require fewer coats which make the product much more affordable than a low solids, thin film coating
Yes you’re right . It’s. Cabinet repaint can I use bin shellac as primer? Or what primer do you recomend me ?

Why are you spraying with such a narrow fan? I would set it to 5 inches and finish in half the time!
So youve a bias view because you work for the company
Looking like to slow process, with FFLP tip for airless will be faster.
Airless and AAA are Faster but lose ~50% more material to overspray
@@justinm4219 true. they’re a mess. They leave a damn good finish, but you have to mask the hell out of the area and throws a lotta dust all over in the air
Spraying is probably 10% of your time when refinishing.
