The Men's Triple Jump Event kicked off at 12:32 (Local Time), at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, on August 21, 2021. The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F). It would be a good estimate to assume that at noon the Temperature was 26°C (~78°F). According to Diamond League's official records for the Competition, the wind varied between 0.0 m/s to 2.5 m/s ( 0.0 ft/s to 6.6 ft/s). The City of Eugene is located at an Altitude of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level.
The Men's Triple Jump event featured a strong field of seven Tokyo Olympians: former Arizona State Sun Devil Chis Benard (USA), Max Heß (Germany), the remaining five were Olympic Finalists: Andrea Dallavalle (Italy), former University of Florida Gator Will Claye (USA), former EMU Eagle Donald Scott (USA), Olympic Bronze Medalist Fabrice Hugues Zango (Burkina Faso), the Olympic Champion Pedro Pichardo (Portugal).
Side Note: Pichardo is also the Reigning European Indoor Champion. End Side Note.
Pichardo's dominance in the Men's Triple Jump is such that he did just two jumps during the competition: his first jump (17.24 meters) was good enough to qualify for The Final Three (which officially is the Sixth Jump of the Competition), then he waited for his closest adversaries to catch up with him, which they did until their fourth and fifth jump respectively to qualify for The Final Three. Then to put the cherry on top of the cake Pichardo did his best and last jump of the competition, his second jump: 17.63 meters. Good enough for the win, two weeks after his Gold Medal-Winning Performance at the Tokyo Olympics. His winning mark at Hayward Field represented a decrease in distance of 2.49% with respect to his Personal Best of 18.08 meters (2015).
