I was a little girl when this came out but I wanted to be grown so bad music was phenomenal & my mom & dad kept music like this bumpin in my home .. Peace & Blessings To Eddie Kendricks ❤️🙏🏿
Definitely MFSB backing this classic. Thanks for verifying that fact. Gamble & Huff with this fantastic band and Joe Tarsia tracking and mixing. They don't get the enough credit for the hits they are behind.
Nicely done D Lee as you have on many near-forgotten '70's R&B tracks. I'm glad you have embraced the US soul classics and applied your magic to so many...
Got that Tramps vibe......I can mix their tracks with this perfectly..then mix Love is the message as an excellent finish...You worked this..Thanks 😊 🙏 😊 🙏
I heard some of some of your remixes when my friend DJ Vidal has played them. I din't it was you. I started goind to clubs back on 73 and have been collecting music since then. What you do to dance classics is beyond words! Long live dance music!
Very good job ,from days when music was real . There are a lot of so called DJ's out there today that try to mess with mixing these classics and really screw them up ,however you did a very ,very good job.I am a old club head from way back in the day at 66years old now.We want the young flocks to respect our music from back than that a lot of musicians put there hearts into making real instrumentally skilled works of art, and not this electric bunched up stuff they call House today . Some of its good but so much of it is just some person twisting knobs on a panel and calling themselves a DJ.Your work is proof of a real DISC JOCKEY
Agreed, indeed, and with you for sure... I most DEFINITLY ...concur! At 61 years of age, club kid since 1974, DJ since 1977 to 1989, Ballroom and Latin instructor/choreographer since 1994, and a lifelong music lover (of all genres) you speak for us!
Best mix out of 10 so far, congratulations. Engineering is nice . I have very to a remix, vocal wise lol this brother was way before their time. This is one of those prophetic songs
1977 and Motown does Philly. Great Allan Felder track, as you say it bombed here in the UK, but as a lover of Motown and Philly I think this is superb. I've got a copy of the single, and play this lots to this day. This is a fabulous extension of a great underplayed track.
One of those songs I listened to back in the day and love, but somehow I didn’t remember for a very long time. Got the comp awhile ago and left it sealed until I had time to open it up and listen, and to my surprise and delight this one was on it, remixed and crafted with love, leaving the essence of the original. Happy to have it on vinyl; it’s absolutely wonderful. Thank you!
Good Disco era Dance record ! If ya still not paying attention to the lyrics...bought the cd again in 2001 Heard the lyrics on Sept 10 and woke up to the news on the 11th ...😳
this dope track was already mixed up, for & with the no.1 HOUSE group 'TEN CITY' from the states. it was bangin' hard back then in 1994. nobody should've waited that long for a joey negro extended mix of the original. already mixed /edited by greats like albert cabrera, roger sanchez and cj mackintosh. you gotta listen to that banger first. plus it's dedicated to the memory of mr. eddie kendricks. not forgotton ! pray & obey the ALLMIGHTY ALLAH ( the ONE & ONLY LORD ) the only CREATOR, the GREATEST. HE has no partners & no kids ! HE is the ONE, and we are HIS creation. but honestly, i don't know, if the end is near and we will be going up in smoke. but there's still hope !
In He is a Friend Of Mine. Eddie talks about his relationship with God. In Going Up In Smoke, Eddie sings, fell a blaze, disobeyed the world is going down. Two sides of your believes. The late great "Cornbread " Eddie kendricks. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
He’s written some things right here. Jesus also known as “The Word” is definitely coming down soon to destroy. Sinners played, disobeyed, who’s gonna take the blame? No such thing as a burning hell, but there will be a destruction, we gotta get it together individually 😢
If you didn't hear this in a disco back in the day you weren't there.
OMG This just moves me. Listening in 2023
Almost 65 and Eddie is one of the greatest male singers of our time, that to me has sadly been overlooked in the UK. What a voice.
68 this summer!!
I am 62 and still loving this type of music
Great music is ageless!
And why not ,62,72,82 etc brilliant
Amazing what can be done with real instruments, real live drummer and a great song...not to mention Eddie..Miss these days and all that went with it.
I was a little girl when this came out but I wanted to be grown so bad music was phenomenal & my mom & dad kept music like this bumpin in my home .. Peace & Blessings To Eddie Kendricks ❤️🙏🏿
Your Mom and Dad did right by you!
The Musical Arrangement With EDDIE'S VOCALS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL BLEND OF GENIUS "
❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉😢😊
♪ Talked to my friend again today
Forty days, forty nights
It rained all over the world to be exact
Sinners played, disobeyed
The word comin' down, that's a fact
Some people took it for a joke
Just can't understand
They nailed our Savior to the cross
But He told them all He would rise again, rise again
I talked to my friend again today
This is what he had to say, he said
We're goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
And we ain't got no hope, we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
And we ain't got no hope 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
I talked to my friend again today
Don't be afraid by what I say
Don't wait till judgment day, start to pray
Stop the hate, killin', now
We'll all have to go anyhow
Everybody's havin' tons of fun
But who's gonna take the blame?
Each day the sun gets close to earth
Soon we'll all go up in burnin' flames, burnin' flames
Talked to my friend again today
This is what he had to say, he said
We're goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
And we ain't got no hope 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Oh, I talked to my friend again today
Everybody's havin' tons of fun
Who's gonna take the blame?
Each day the sun gets close to earth
Soon we'll all go up in burnin' flames, burnin' flames
Talked to my friend again today
This is what he had to say, he said
We're goin up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
And we ain't got no hope 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
Hey, we ain't got no hope 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, goin' up in smoke
Goin', goin'
Sinners played, disobeyed
The word comin' down that's why we're
Goin' up in smoke and we ain't got no hope
Oh, no, no, no
Goin', everybody's havin' tons of fun
Who wanna take the blame?
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke
We ain't got no hope, 'cause we're goin' up in smoke
Goin' up in smoke, goin' up in smoke

Eddie sings with a lot of heart!
Sprung brought me here.
Love this?
Alguien se ha dado cuenta que Mariah Carey utiliza algunos samples de esta canción en Meteorite?? De nada 😉
TILT !!
Mariah Sampled this for her hit, Meteorite, both are classic hits
Good mix. The most negative song ever.
1980's "aint no jive" WBMX chicago,,, however this version lacks the soul and movement of the original
