Thanks for the video man! I have 6 acres to mow every week and I've recently been trying different mowing patterns to cut my time down. I knew that on paper, a circular pattern should be the quickest. On a 60" zero-turn rider (3" once a week) my original time doing a mix of straight line and 45-degree cuts took 2hr 50min. Got it down to 2h 20min breaking the yard up into 5 smaller racetrack patterns. Doing concentric circles expanding outward from my house to the edges is the quickest at 2 hours even. That gives me over one extra day per year which I've rolled over into other yard work hah. As a bonus, since I'm mowing in expanding circles it spreads the grass clippings out so they never build up even if I'm a few days late.
I mow different directions and different patterns every time I mow. Also mow every 3-4 days at 3-4", with my full N-ext liquid plan, my neighbors hate me.
10 minutes to mow the lawn, LUXURY! I try to rotate my cut pattern. the loop pattern results in an hour less time of 2.5 hrs compared to the other patterns, but I am not crazy about how it looks and there were a couple of difficult areas that I could not traverse at the angle I needed to. I cut my lawn 2-3 times a week. I never wanted a giant lawn but here I am wishing for a bigger mower. 1st world problems, if we are still considered that.
Mowing is my me time when the family doesn't bother me because they know I'm in my happy place. I try to always double cut and I vertical, horizontal, or the 45 degree.
I see where you're going with this.. I'd rather double cut (maybe triple) my lawn everyday rather than lose time sitting in traffic for an hour each way to and from work, when it would normally take 20 min..Atlanta traffic sucks &$$.
This time of year I can cut grass 3+ times a week, heat of the summer I can get by twice; every time I cut I go a different direction as I mulch. I don’t mind it too much, gives me a little break, a time to unwind if you will? I get it tho, when ya have kids that keep you running or other things time does become an issue!
The lawn maintenance is my personal escape. I tend to slow my pace as to make it last. Cut every 2-3 days it’s almost my pets utopian world. Wanna save me time? Someone come pull a weed or two. Great coffee content and the start of my day👍
I used to do the "round cut" when i was a kid. My parents lawn was the better part of an acre. My goal was to get it done as fast as i could. 😂 As the robo mowers get better and come down in price, that's going to be the future for the average person. I'm using the Landroid for the backyard. It's nice to have a consistently cut lawn for the kids to use without having to worry about cutting it.
I think I can spare the 2 extra minutes per Mow for the straight lines. Heck I spent 6 minutes and 23 seconds watching this video and it was good.. I think I'm the only one on my block that mows. they're grass every other day at this time of year.. But it's at about 3/4 of an inch in the Pacific Northwest South of Seattle . "5 iron perennial Rye grass."
Obvious addition here is this, for people that dont want mowing to take much of their time they should use a wider deck mower on a higher cut. That way they mow fewer days every month and cover more ground per minute while mowing. Pattern is in the diminishing return category imo. 🤓
I disagree on the dthatch. It wont work year 2. I Had 100 gallons of 14-0-0 left from last season I just went to stir the tote and it was pretty nasty. I got most of it back into suspension but it was chunky on the bottom.
Mowing helps get more walking in, it’s completely enjoyable, and makes things look good. For us that love the lawn, it’s a huge benefit in all areas of life so take your time. For those that hate it, get it done and go do what you love…lol.
Mario Andretti method leaves you finishing in the middle of the lawn. Now you got to pick your mower up and carry it off the lawn or risk *ucking up your stripe game
Yeah, but it really doesn't add up in a meaningful way. It's not like you can bank that time. And it's not like you are going to do anything meaningful with that minute of time
I did a challenge where I skied 70,000 vertical feet in a day. Every time the lift stopped or there was a small line, it kept me from my goal. That’s how I see tasks that can be done more efficiently.
It adds up accross multiple tasks. Save 2 minutes mowing, 1 min trimming, 1 min blowing, that’s 4 minutes. In the same day you want wash the car, go to the gym, and other things… save a few minutes on each and you saved a half hour to an hour in the day. You can definitely use the spare time if you do multiple tasks efficiently and get more done in a day.
I don't consider time a factor at this stage of my life when it comes to mowing. What I am impressed with is the way your lawn has rebounded from just a few weeks ago of buried under snow and snow mold and how it is looking now. 👍🏻💚🦸🏻
Thanks for the video man!

definitely something to think about ! will give it a whirl myself

That’s awesome
You always got something good big JOHN.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks joe
Very well explained again brother you are making me a fan
Thank you
Let it mow, let it mow, let it mooooow!
I'm at home on the range... on the Deere, maybe with a Lager or Pilsner! Very random patterns some days.
A nice mid strength beer and a ride on mower can do wonderfully amazing things

Nice. Diamonds are forever
Getting ready to place a gcf order for summer, can i mix 9-0-1, greenkick and seak for nice sumer cocktail
Sure. But you don’t need to do the sea-k unless you really need lateral growth
@@Lawncology thanks I have tttf and kbg lawn. Hopefully I can survive the summer.

Got that right!
Agreed, Atlanta traffic is horrible!!
It's all about "Enjoy The Mow"
That’s for sure
How good is that awd husqvarna? Hard to find in my area for sure
@@TheNightSnacker it’s great
Try the hybrid racetrack =p If I find my drone (dont ask) soon I'll record it

The automower has the true saver because think about that… even at only 10 minutes, that’s an hour a week I can do other things like make videos!!
@@Lawncology and you should keep making videos for dummies like myself, so I can learn a few more things!!!

Looks like I’m gonna try the racetrack method next time I mow.
Two giant stripes
What is turnaround?

@@Lawncology These last few videos have been very fun.
They get people thinking out of the box and having fun while doing it keep up though good work.
@@richardharwell thanks buddy. Just working through my list of ideas I had this winter!
Patterns are the best. Lawn stripes all day, baby. Then freak out ur neighbors with a double cut on Friday for the weekend to really piss them off.😂
Lol
Yeah but those 45s look so d$mn tight!😎
Indeed

I think an automower 😂
So, straight lines it is if we want to spend more time on the lawn. Let's make it a double cut

I totally agree! Slow down, don’t worry and enjoy. I just do that when I’m mowing the green
Make my kid mow once every 2 weeks at 6" height for maximum lifelong time savings. 😮😅
😂😂
How much time would I save if f I quit watching lawncology hmmmmmm starts to add up to hours……

Or the obvious choice. A robo mower.
Yes
