I was an avid customer of mainstream news media from a young teen growing up thru the late 80's up until are 2016 or so. And for decades whenever the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan's name came up, it was in reference to negativity. I can admit that I was kind of indoctrinated in a way because I just assumed it was true.
One day in 2016 or so his name came up and I decided to see for myself. I typed his name into RUclips and chose his first appearance on Donahue in 1984 because I was familiar with the name. I was so impressed by how he handled the venom coming from both the audience AND the host that i ended up binging on all of his Donahue appearances into the 90's.
If you haven't seen them, do yourself a favor.

I Remember talking with KAM in Compton, a year or 2 before the Gang Truce and he was ahead of his time then. I was like, nah - should … but won’t happen, too many hurting and don’t know how to heal. The conversation we had was like a soliloquy, caused me to self reflect and internalize the effects of my environment on my behavior and development. We didn’t agree on a few things, but self love, reading & research, staying mentally & physically fit, and the power in words stood out enough to cause a change. S/O Craig
