That yarn tip to measure mileage was SUPER!!!! Thank you. As always you guys share some of the best content offers for those of us who like to wonder our great North America landscapes. Thank you both for all you do to inspire and share. We appreciate you.
Yarn! What a great idea & not marking up your maps! After 45 yrs on a pc; (commodore 32!! lol was my first computer & the first home pc in the world & I took cobalt in college, which is now extinct - lol), sometimes not dealing with pindrops & saving highlights; is amazing. I am beginning to enjoy staying away from my pc & iphones
I don't know how I've managed it so far, but I still use a flip phone & haven't caved in getting a little soul-sucking black mirror yet. I use my chosen apps on my laptop. Figure I spend too much time on in front of a screen already.
Yeah I've heard from other RVrs that reaching your campsite near 3pm-ish is ideal too. Even when I was a kid I didn't like scouting around unfamiliar places after dark. _Especially_ if it was off-road.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Mike and Jennifer! Thanks for sharing all of your resources of choice. This will certainly help some of "newbies" to avoid some problems, yet, find some really neat destinations. Love your "330 Rule," too; makes a LOT of sense! Y'all Be Safe!
You 2 are amazing! I didn't want this video to end. I'm getting my RV this month and hitting the road so your info is invaluable to me! THANK YOU so much!
We can’t wait to be full time and visit all these great places. We prefer to get all the info online because we will have limited space to keep books and maps but I can see how that would help. RV Trip Wizard looks very helpful. Thanks. Alice
l learned the hard way to never count on online maps that require internet / cell signal to access while on the road! A nice old fashioned, well worn, paper map in my glove box for the win!
The yarn is a great idea. I plan our trips initially using the maps like you do, but was using Mapquest to find distance and travel time between stops. My IPad is a great help when planning at home, but we keep a Good Sam Campground Directory, maps and an atlas with us in the event we need to find an RV park and do not have any type of internet connection. For many of the more popular sites, reservations are a necessity, but some RV parks are not flexible or understanding if your plans change due to an accident or breakdown, which has happened to us on two occasions. Luckily we have only lost about $300.00 in cancellation fees. Thank you for sharing. Always enjoy your videos. Safe travels!!
i use google map n type in camping and u will see a bunch of camp sites next I click on what his has inside like pool store fishing etc..... then if there's on I like then I like to look at allll the reviews n rateing must be over 4.5 for me to look at it that my secret I always stay at a provincial parks always they all have security n gates which I like
Wonderful information here. And listening to you guys doesn’t stress me out! Lol! You make me feel comfortable as you explain so clearly and concisely on all subjects you discuss. Grabbing those books and my yarn (love the yarn trick!)
I think you made this a while back so I have a couple questions: 1. Are you able to still use this method since covid? 2. How do you stay flexible with your plans if you have to book months in advance? In other words if you book all your spots in advance, what do you do if they close things down because of covid or something? Doesnt it throw the timing off for your whole planned trip? I say that because we took a month long trip to the northeast but I booked all places to stay in advance. We felt like we were always staying on a timeline to get to the next destination and therefore were not able to be as spontaneous as we would have liked to be. Of coarse you never know in advance how much you will like each spot but because the reservations are already set then you have to stay on a plan. Lol I guess I want my cake and eat it too. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing all those good recourses, there is so much to see and explore out there. Even with all the planning, I just can't seem to avoid the delays from the inevitable traffic crash ahead, gapers block or endless road construction which brings traffic to a crawl for no reason. Yes, IL and TN that means you. I do like your 330 rule!
I just subscribed! After owning a VW Westfalia for years, I'm looking forward to taking delivery of my new (reliable!) rig in the late spring. This video was great and gave me lots to look into and use. Now...just to find a new road atlas!
Never trust any traveler with a perfectly folded map! I always start my planning with a recent Rand McNally road atlas (very cheap at Wal-Mart). I like picking up sightseeing resources along the way, such as brochures and stuff at state welcome centers, local events magazines in lodging offices or lobbies, and local papers. I used to just drive (in cars) until I got too tired to continue, which once resulted in a 27-hour drive (with lots of coffee but no rest breaks) from central Texas to California in 2002. The older I got, the dumber that strategy became! I instituted a hard 12-hour limit in 2005 for solo driving and modified it to a daylight-only rule (driving at night makes it hard to dodge critters and debris). I'll probably stick to that after buying an RV but be more willing to call it an early day as I'll have my lodging with me. "A man's got to know his limitations."
Wow, I thought I was pretty hardcore driving 8+ from the SF Bay Area to Orange County, and that was during my college years. Never again! Being woke on the side of the road by CHP is not fun, especially when you don't remember when you pulled over...
@@celestepalm6949 Try waking up in the midst of negotiating a curve in the Tehachapi mountains between Mojave and Bakersfield at 3:00 AM. Actually, DON'T try it!

Hahahaha... This is so cute! Books and paper maps! This is so darling. What you save on campgrounds, you can buy another book! All Kidding aside, this is very informative and absolutely adorable... :-)

Thank you for the videos. I am thinking of buying a Leisure Travel Unity u24tb van and I was wondering in your opinion, do I need a tow vehicle? Or can I disconnect at the rv camp and drive the van to where I want to go?
I just enjoy your channel so much. Great destinations and photography mixed with great information. Do you make camping reservations in advance or do you play it by chance?
Most times, we just settle on a place at the last minute. If we are unsure we can find a place in an area, we do reserve. But I'd say that's no more than 2 out of 10 times.
Do you call for reservations as your planning or when your on the road? How can you be flexible if you have to be at a certain campsite on a certain day.?
I love your videos! I am also quite security conscious. If that is your real home address at 5:31, I recommend obscuring it. Thank you for the excellent videos and podcasts!!
I don't have a you tube channel but I think you should Add commercials so you can earn money on these wonderful videos. Check with you tube on how to do that. It's really good passive income.
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing the helpful information.
That's the first time I've heard of the "330" plan. Love it! Thanks for all you guys do. My wife and I really love watching your YT videos. : )
