    I drove a couple of laps with a professional driver in this car at Speed Vegas. It felt like a 911 on stilts to me. The driver was easily keeping up with the Lamborghini in front of us. Granted that was a customer driving a supercar for likely the first time. The Macan's handling ability was surprising.

    I drove a Macan T a few days ago and preferred it to the GTS. Why? Just so much more nimble and chuckable. I was surprised by how quick it was, whilst I was surprised by how slow the GTS was - relative to my expectations of both.

    • @ziggy149
      @ziggy149 Год назад +2

      I'm always confused when someone says the GTS is slow. It's 0-60 in 4 sec. That's legit fast - and how fast was your expectation? Also, straight line is for the scat packs. Did you drive it on twisties and off camber hills?

    • @colin5577
      @colin5577 Год назад +3

      @@ziggy149 Yes - I have other Porsches so was let loose for a good solo drive. Not saying the GTS was slow. Or bad. I just expected a little more noise and drama from the hottest Macan, I guess. It was great, but didn’t get under my skin. I preferred the T. It was more fun on the twisties and you had to rev the nuts off it, so there was bit bit more work involved in hustling it. I just found it more fun.

    The MK2 Macan S or Turbo is still unbeatable with the correct engine and options. Porsche can’t beat what they have already created. The interior glass touch centre console is a downgrade IMO I’d much rather have my centre console with physical buttons. You know exactly what and where you are pressing and when you have pressed it. Plus the glass will be covered in finger print marks after about 2 minutes of driving.

      0-60 in less than 5.8 seconds for an SUV from a 2 litre petrol is still pretty rapid in the grand scheme of things. For around 50k I don't think much beats this. I'd personally go for a 6 cylinder X3 30d which has the same performance.

    My 2016 Macan turbo engine completely failed last week with 72K miles on it. No warning signs, nothing. Just lost all oil pressure in an instant and we found the oil full of metal. I loved my Macan but will never buy another Porsche.
    My Panamera breaks every three weeks and I thought Porsches where reliable but that has not been my experience. They're great cars, when they work.

  • @kindface

    I had the first gen Macan turbo back in 2015.
    Loved everything about it……except one:
    Porsche, if you’re listening, please give us the option of sports seats for front passengers? Please!
    The default seats, despite upgrade and lumbar support options at additional costs, just ain’t doing the job to hold the driver intact from lateral shift for slimmer-girth drivers.
    Never getting another Macan again until sports seats option is offered.

    A polite request... Im asking All car reviewers and Auto Journalists to do the same. Please show and let us know detailed information about the tyre that comes with the new vehicle (Brand, type, summer/winter/all-season, speed, size and general auto industry tyre reviews grading of the tyre - meaning, good, average, bad))
    Why? 2 Reasons...
    1. The tyre is the most important safety feature of any car, as it is the ONLY thing that connects the vehicle with the road, regardless of how good or poor the car is itself.
    2. By Auto Journalists and car RUclipsrs doing this, it will hopefully start vehicles manufacturers taking note. It may even hopefully push them towards going with best ranked tyre manufacturer, or at least offering different tyres for a customer to have a choice that will be put on the vehicle, with the best available tyre, as well as a tyre that is suitable for the time of year that it is sold.
    For example, living in Northern Scotland, UK, every time i pick-up a new car, often in December, regardless of European car manufacturer, they 'only' put summer tyres on it for the UK market. Yet the safe and sensible customer focused safety thing to do, would be putting on All Season tyres as a minimum. So for last 10 years, every new car i have had (5), from picking the car up at a dealership, within 30 minutes I've had to drive straight to a tyre specialists (If road conditions allow and no snow or ice) and put on Winter Tyres and in recent years with tyre technology, All Season tyres. This is often an extra £1000+ cost on top of what I've just paid for the vehicle. It is crazy and frustrating car manufactures will not listen or change and car nothing to the safety of their customers, certainly in the UK market.
    Thank-you..

      The point of this car is that you get all of the superb driving dynamics of the more expensive cars, all the quality, all the looks, etc. that make it a Porsche. You pay less, and you don’t get all the straight line speed. If driving challenging, rewarding roads somewhere is part of your routine rather than trudging along on highway commutes or trying to flex from stoplight to stoplight, then that will probably be a trade off a prospective buyer will be interested in.
