Informative video. I just got this and am dosing it with a Peri Pump so I put it in 5 times a day to break up the dosing. Nice to know it works overnight. It is leaves the water so fast I think dosing slowly over time is the way to go to get a consistent readings.
If you dose slowly I would do it in the overflow so it goes directly into the socks and gets taken out by the skimmer. Like 1.1ml a minute pump would be perfect for this application
I’m using HW Reefer right now. I used Brightwell in the past, but now I’m going to switch to Fritz since they had it on sale for a smoking deal. I bought 5 boxes.
I was at 8.0 and now I'm down to 1.8 I don't know what I'm gonna do and cant bring myself to use this stuff. YET. I bought the cheapest salt I could find and just gonna keep changing it and cleaning marine pure and sand bed. I am FOWLR but I love my fish. I would like to ad coral though.
My phosphates are currently at 0.3 ppm what would be the safest way to lower them with this product i have a 24 gallon reef tank mixed coral. Is there a certain amount or time period i have to follow to lower them? Thanks.
Hi! Tysm for this information. U do great at explaining phosphate info…! I’ve been searching RUclips for 2!!! Days about this.. all others. Not so good at devolving the information!😢😢 plz lmk how to understand what my 36 gal tank phosphates should be ? My tanks green n cloudy 😢 so scared to leave this Phos-Orzo hanging in front of my filter for too long also very important to know is what test kit I should get for my 36 gallon tank freshwater that is, to test levels. I have test strips. I do not see the phosphate level covers all things water in my freshwater tank. Tia. ❤ plz Advise. Thank you 🙏🏻
I am doing an update on this as we speak. My entire view on phosphates have changed. But a safe number to shoot for is 0.1 ppm phosphate. I use the Hannah checker to measure it. I believe in a more wholistic approach now where there isn’t just one product that will reduce it to where you want. But it’s more of a multi pronged approach. Reduce feeding, increase filtration, use phosphate E, find the source of your food that has the most phosphates in it and then find a substitute for it. My upcoming video will be done in about 2 weeks. I hope it helps!
Water changes do not help lower phosphate, just nitrate. Your rock has bound phosphate that it immediately releases into the water column to reach equilibrium. This happens within seconds. The lower your phosphate levels, the longer it will take to have a lower equilibrium in the water column. Especially once you are under 0.10 Try diluting the phos-E 1:10 with RODI and slowly drip it or put it on a dosing pump. Check phosphate levels at least every other day.
Popped back up to 0.2 😢. It’s definitely not a long term solution. It’s more to get it down and find other means to keep it down. I may end up dosing it once a month to bring it back down. Still running GFO, phosban, and a cheato trash can 😆
@@shallowreefing your not running carbon right? Also, maybe check source water such as ATO for phosphates? Not sure if gfo or phosban would maybe strip the phosphate E out either?
@@JCSReefing yeah I run carbon with it. The fresh water is 0 phosphate and a feshmixed saltwater is 0.02 so super minimal. I think it’s from the sand. I’m just gonna up my water change game and always siphon the sandbed.
@@shallowreefing never used phosphate E but maybe see if carbon could be stripping the remover out a bit of the water column? Just throwing ideas around! GL and happy Reefing! 🤙
Does not work for fresh water 😢I used a whole bottle in a month in a ten gallon tank with brand new gravel and filled with distilled water was good for a week then off the charts so I tried this stuff no luck 4 platys two filters I feed a little each day it’s gone in one minute. I’m lost
That’s pretty crazy. If I had a 10 gallon tank I would just do water changes. It would be way easier than measuring out all the amounts and testing. Probably way cheaper to do water changes too
Refugiums aren't really for phosphates really, it works great to reduce nitrate. Have you ever tried carbon dosing? If you have high nitrate and phosphates, that will work best. Lanthium is hard to get it out once it is in.
Not really so. I ran a refugium and tested with hanna and the refugium was so successful it bottomed out my nitrates and phosphates. Tested using hanna checkers. I got dinoflagellates after that. I shut down the refugium shortly after to save the system.
Consistency is the key. Gotta do those 10% weekly water changes. But if you see in later ICP testing videos I never get any lanthanum in my system. Check out my most recent video on phosphate removal. I think it is better than the single Brightwell phosphate e video.
I checked my ro water brand new months ago brand new filters and found out I had been dosing 100ppb for 2 years top up and warer changes I now run a extra pod on my ro system filled with gfo now I font use any on my tank anymore just on water supply I run 38 to 50 ppb o.18 ppm
wtf, why has it taken this long for me to find your chanel? this is amazing content gonna benge all of it today
Thank you soo much! I got tons of videos!
hello, are we suppose to dose daily?
Phosphate E works best when put directly into the skimmer neck. This is the way WWC does it and I've done the same for years.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Just take the cup off and right into the reaction chamber?
@@alexisramos9064yes, or just remove lid as i do.
What kind of hannah phosphate tester are you using? Theyre multiple and im confused on which one to get.
I use the ultra low range

Same here buddy im battling the PO4s but its very tough battle because all of the rock and sand are saturated to that point .33 for me too.
Everyone I know has high phosphate levels right now. No idea why either.

Wow mine is that high too and I'm trying to get it down. I'm also doing a blackout to kill off the turf algae, and I hope to get my tank recovered.
Bad ass view from your desk
Tank looks amazing bud
Great job!
Thanks! It really does look good after a water change
Great looking tank you have going - following along - great video on this one
Thank you!

I would do a 12 gallon water change and get it to 0.15. That’s the easier math to do.
@@shallowreefing that's 50 percent is it safe to drop them so quickly?

Your link to the calculators website isn’t working
I just tried it and it works from my phone by clicking on it. Not sure why it’s not working for you?
Tank size pls
Have you noticed any changes or problems with your fish after dosing Phosphate-e?
Nope. Fish are all alive and healthy!

Be better off doing small daily WC in a tank that size .
No conversion chart so I don’t have to do the math?
I just use the link below cuz math is hard 😆
I don't think water changes reduce numbers like that.

That Hannah tester for phosphates are not that good. The Alkalinity tester is the best
I have the Hannah and the salifert. They are both pretty close to each other
Get a Icp test , my Hanna ulr showed phos at 53 = 0.182ppm 🙈 while Icp test come back at 10ppb = 0.031ppm 👍😁
I definitely need to do one soon
If youre trying to get rid of cyano you should use chemi clean instead it has worked for me everytime!
Dont use lanthium use gfo
Lanthanum takes out less trace elements than GFO. GFO strips way more traces than I wanna mess with. I keep it as a back up if something bad happens
80% water change
I’m not gonna change out 160 gallons. lol I only have 60ish gallons of saltwater mixed up on hand. And another 70 of freshwater.
